I have not overclocked so everything is stock. I have been playing Mass Effect Andromeda with auto fans and getting up to mid to high 80's.

And with the Prema BIOS do you mean that they will not help flash it or the BIOS will not work at all? XoticPC looks like to be a partner of Prema bios and they sell Sager. I don't mind flashing the BIOS when it is released just wanted to see if it would be compatible.

It's general overhead rather than encoding, the other generations suffered from it too.

thats why u gotta go for 128-256gb type LOL. i remember my first SSD being 120GB for $200 and i thought it was a steal LMAO. however optane on the other hand probably wont drop much in price tbh because number one its intel, number two theres only 2 companies micron and intel, and number 3, its meant to replace ram once the endurance part is fixed. i'd expect 128gb for like $400 i'd still get it, no need for silly raid game anymore.

this would actually work out pretty nicely inside 870KM1, a 128gb optane for boot drive, two 960 pro in raid0 for work space (storage, vmware, video editing, storing games etc). all thats missing is a better heatsink for cpu and hope upcoming coffeelake 6 cores would work in it.

we need to have those more. the article came out a whileback and theres no more new news about it yet so maybe another few yrs before it reaches consumer side of things. onething for sure is that samsung would push for consumer end side of things a lot faster than intel cause intel wants to m!lk for as long as possible. IF taken a direct comparison with its saying 70% lower latency in read, then it will be closer to optane's performance. as for endurance wise, right now optane is broken in terms of endurance so samsung got a shot in this.

    Off topic
Is there any reason to name 7th gen Intel processors as kabylake
    8th as coffeelake
    6th as skylake
    Who even decides this?(rehtorical Q)
I mean why cofee, sky , kaby?

XoticPC is a Prema partner for their brand of laptops only. I think it was in the DM2/3 thread, but Sager will not allow Xotic to flash Prema. Your only shot would be the PM @Prema himself and see what he might be able to do when the KM1 BIOS is ready.

    woah @Papusan
"Pricing for Optane Memory M.2 2280 modules start at just $44 (16GB) and peak at $75 (32GB). The operating system recognizes the new products as addressable storage, just like a regular hard disk drive or solid-state drive. Intel told us that support for the drives as cache starts with the latest 200-series chipset products that feature an additional four PCI Express lanes over the older 100-series chipset."

"I'll be one of the first to take advantage of the new 3D XPoint technology in a RAID 0 array with three 32GB M.2 NVMe drives configured in a 96GB array to test what the technology is capable of." LOLOLOL

looks like caching is just gonna straight out use the m.2 2280 form factor but at only 32GB lol. can't even fit windows

    So BOOM
    Skylake
Next time they thought that they weren't doing a new thing for the 3rd year too so like a morning ritual for many people
    CoffeeLake
For the kabylake i don't even want to know what was their thought process

thats interesting, but im sure people will find ways around it. the only real issue i see here is, support from IRST and intel will make that only latest IRST version support and capable of reading optane which can only be installed on windows 10+.

ultimately, it is still a m.2 pcie device and bios will be able to read it, and should be able to recognize it as a mass storage device hence we can install windows on it. just speculation at this point but only educated guesses as i donno $h!t about windows.

if not.. then i could always refuse to use IRST as it benefits me little to none in none-raid 0 scenarios i only really install it for write cache boost, which optane will cover it with it's performance regardless. or i could install windows on say, SSD and then image to optane and force boot off optane m.2 afterwards maybe etc etc

Finally got mine today from hidevolution but unfortunately I am stuck on the "Hi there Lets get a few basic things out there" set-up after choosing express setting. I'm facing the same problem as this https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...ere-lets/06d8432f-5a94-4cb9-8549-72517cbf5cc7.

Corrupt windows 10 installation? This is disappointing especially for its price! I was expecting that it will work out of the box w/o hiccups. What solution should I do?

I also noticed that there are no printed reports on the benchmarks performed. Is this a normal situation?

I am getting NP9876 soon. Just wondering if it'd be possible to use RAMs @ higher frequencies (e.g 2800Mhz, 3000Mhz, 4000Mhz etc.) on it without any problems? The default limit for RAM seems to be 2400Mhz but I am thinking maybe there is a way to go beyond the limit? XMP perhaps? Thanks.

You can set higher speeds in the BIOS, up to 2800mhz is easy, 3000mhz can take a little playing and beyond that is exploring the edges for SODIMMs at the moment.

That 9 minute waste of time made me also wonder if it is only worthwhile for the three people on earth who would be running a Z270 chipset with a spinner HDD as your boot drive.....

If it worked awesome for SSD caching that's the cherrypicked test they would have done

I wish, but NVIDIA killed 3D VISON license support for the internal screen on Notebooks since the introduction of the GTX9xx(M) series due the lack of ODM customer...they could just enable it in the driver but sadly it's still a license thing just like g-sync.

Question for the P870KM1 users out there... I hear the 7700k runs warmer than the 6700k. curious to know what overclocks are you guys running on the 7700k and what temperatures are you getting while gaming (with the heat of the 1080 sli) and the cpu. Also temperatures under some kind of stress test like Aida 64.

    Thanks in advice

After using the MSI SteelSeries Keyboard, I'd never wanna use a laptop with any other keyboard. Other than maybe, an Alienware if they offer us socketed hardware with decent cooling in the future.
