@pwooster Tornado F5 has it's short comings like first the Hardware - The HDMI and DP are at 1.4 and 1.2 while the Clevo ZM/DM and DM Pascal are at 2.0 and 1.3, Next is the GTX1070 in the MSI vs the 1070 / 1080 option, 120Hz FHD 60Hz FHD too I guess, 4K, 3K true 120Hz vs FHD 60Hz only on MSI. Now comes the crucial part the sBIOS - Svet's BIOS vs the Prema also the vBIOS too.
The F5 doesn't ship with a GTX1080 and the MSI cards won't plug into this since a) - the 1080 without power connector is custom shape and needs new HS, even if you forge one It wont fit b) - With power connector won't fit since there's no auxiliary ports available on the F5 mobo, or the hardware doesn't ship with that from what I have seen, maybe I could be wrong in this part... Now comes in the adoption rate. Clevo machines adoption rate is higher than MSI Barebones iirc so more people to help you out or share with.
But the build quality of MSI should be better than Clevo. Oh yeah both machines need to get a repaste / undervolt as well, But the Clevo Heatsink is a hit/miss and the more unified than the F5 but the Clevo machines run louder...
Now decide what you want![]()

Sub-zero room temperature is amazing for 6700K :-D I went for 6700K but am a bit concerned with these hot potatoes now.
Would you recommend going for 32Gb 3000Mhz or stick to the 2400-2800 range? -

I meant the size of the rose bouquet
Go for 3000MHz

Could someone else please also try 368.71 to see if its really working good or I am just seeing some placebo effect?
This driver feels much smoother than the others and the input lag seems to be lower too.
When installing this driver I get black screens. What I do is wait a few minutes to make sure everything is installed in the background, then force shut down and restart the laptop. The OS will boot and I see the last page of the driver setup screen. After this another reboot for the drivers to load. -

Also, sorry to be annoying because im sure this has been answered in this thread....
I have one ssd already installed. I want to go buy one more and take the back cover off and install it. I remember something about having to remove heat sinks to do this?
Is this only for the third and fourth ssd's?
If I can just pop a second m2 in without taking anything more than the back cover off, Ill run out and do that right now.
Please and thank you -

I mean, the slot is empty, next to the HDD... -
Safe to assume you mean an M.2 (2280) SSD and not the 2.5" SSD?

Even the keyboard can be taken out without taking the heatsink out.
So far, the only thing that you do need to take the heatsink out for is either repaste or changing CPU / GPU. -

I'm using XTi something non-samsung and it works well so far. Samsung is almost entirely TLC, so it might wear off fawster in time... -

But other than my fingerprint issue this lapppy is so beast mode. I have a macbook pro and ive had a sony vaio and also hp and compaq laptops. I dont think build qulity is better on msi or asus. If it was all aluminum it would feel just as good as my apple. I got mine through AVADirect so her name is AVA. I think they did a perfect paste job. So for now im leaving as is. But they did sent the rest of the tube of paste. had prolimatech pk5 paste installed with my order on my 6700k/1080 combo . Got a free copy o f gears of war 4 with my gfx card and it runs about 45 fps at ultra 4k and never goes over 75c mabye 78c on gpu and cpu. When running firestrike ultra its about 85celcius. Ill post some screenshots soon! But im at work now

HIDevolution has the best options in terms of CPUs - Factory Delidding (without voiding your warranty), Silicon Lottery CPUs, faster RAM options upto 3000 MHz. upon request, more options in terms of SSDs/HDDs, FREE Prema BIOS/VBIOS.
Benefits of Prema BIOS:
- The ability to disable other drives connected to your system without physically removing them from your laptop, this comes in handy when installing Windows as you never want to have more than one drive connected at the time you are installing Windows otherwise the Windows setup will place the boot files on the 2nd drive it sees which hurts performance and makes it a headache when creating system images or restoring since the boot files are not on the main drive.
- The ability to overclock, increase Turbo Power Limits and System IA/Core Current Limits
- The ability to enable Intel Speed Shift Technology (it is disabled in the stock BIOS)
- The ability to run RAM with speeds higher than the standard 2133 MHz. I am not talking about overclocking here, I am talking about actual RAM sticks that are rated to run at 2800 MHz for example like the G.Skill 64GB 2800 MHz kit I have. With the stock BIOS, they will not run above 2400 MHz. In the case of the P870DM3, the stock BIOS now supports up to 2666 MHz. I believe but not more, so the Prema BIOS is a must again
- The ability to enable CSM for those who want to install other OSes like Windows 7
- The ability to undervolt the CPU as the stock voltage is way too high which causes the CPU to overheat much quicker and thus throttle under load.
- The ability to enable or disable CPU AES instructions or Virtualization
- The ability to disable hibernation from the BIOS
Benefits of Prema VBIOS:
- Power throttle disabled
- Over-voltage slider enabled and adjusted (up to a maximum of 1.2v)
- Activated and adjusted thermal slider (to keep it cooler if desired)
- Core overclock slider limit raised
- Power consumption meter activated
- Fixed 3D voltage base-line in order to stabilize OCs and voltage-match both cards in SLI systems (based on average ASIC)
- Thermal protection @ 92c (once*91c are breached the system throttles volts and clocks in order to protect it)
- Protection against Furmark and Kombustor GPU burnout (AVOID those software even with stock vBIOS)!

You mentioned 70% of the 6700k run hot? The solution is a silicon lottery cpu? First i dont know what that is , and why does it help?Georgel likes this. -
So i got the 950 pro. Downloaded the manual for the 775.
Where is the second ssd slot? Even the manual only shows the one slot
Keep in mind im dumb ( Canadian).
Maybe im missing something?
UPDATE: i am dumb. They call it a m.2 sata in the manual. I found the spot for the second ssd. Ill try to keep quiet for awhileLast edited: Oct 24, 2016temp00876, Papusan, jclausius and 1 other person like this. -

I have seen many users here complain about high temps even at stock speeds. The 6700K is a hit or miss, 50-50 chance to get a good one. Even if you don't want to overclock, spending a bit more to get a Silicon Lottery one ensures your CPU will run cooler overclocked or not. Giving you better thermals and longevity since the CPU won't be running hot constantly.
This Silicon Lottery CPU I got (rated to run @4.8GHz in a desktop) can run @ 4.7 GHz not very stable, 4.6 GHz stable but with higher temps than I would like in a laptop for prolonged use (94C) or running super stable @ 4.5 GHz all day long with max temps of 85C no matter what I throw at it.
Silicon Lottery CPUs are binned CPUs, meaning, they were cherry picked out of the lot and due to their excellent silicon wafer, they run cooler, which means, you will run much much cooler on stock temps and if you want to overclock, you will be able to overclock higher and probably run cooler than a stock 6700K on stock speeds even while you are overclocked.
The difference is night and day and worth every penny. After having had this great experience with Silicon Lottery CPUs, I would never buy a system without one if I had the choice.Georgel likes this. -
77c-79celcius max after running uniengine heaven at extreme settings for 1 hour @ 1280 x720 lol just for kicks .
Max 308 frames per second !Attached Files:

I immediatly ran the uniengine heaven benchmark at 2048x1536 resolution(the max setting for heaven) and the temperature has only risen to 81celcius. Im running it now with gsync enabled no rise in temp so far. on the 4k screen it absolutely beautiful and buttery smooth!!!! I will let it run for one more hour and see the temperature. Edit ...... i just realised you can set a custom resolution in uniengine . Im setting it to 4k native res now and seeing what happens
Attached Files:

Ok so this is crazy after setting to 4k native resolution of 3840x2160 the temps are actually going down to 74-75 degrees celcius!!! What!! Its a little jittery at 8x anti aliasing and caps about 20fps but if you put anti aliasing to 2x its Super smooth and locked in at 60 fps

Ok sorry for so many posts but im just a little hyped to share my results this is 4k resolution ith tesselation set normal and and detail set to high gsync off and 2x aa . Max 97 Fps! And if you turn off ambient occlusion you gain nother 20 frames per second. I try to get the temp in the top right corner if you look closely at the photo. 78celcius and ive been running this test non stop for over 2 hours now
Ive found that at 4 k resolution even on low settings the detail and clarity are f graphics doesnt really change it looks absolutely amazing no matter what settings you use . At 4 k on low to medium settings i was able to achieve 180 max fps ! This is just blowing my mind right now. Even on gears of war 4 which im trying now its absolutely stunning. Im going to try the witcher 3 nextAttached Files:

I've finally got it working, thanks for @Phoenix
Eventually I needed to reinstall windows, now I have it under total control. For now, I try to run it completely vanilla, no changes, without XTU or CCC installed. Cinebench R15 scores are ~835 and temps are okay, so if it works like this, I'll keep it like this.
I figured out how to stop it from booting -> stopping then booting again. I took both RAM sticks out, battery out, and kept pressing power button for a long time, this flushes the BIOS away. Now it starts normally, works somewhat normally and is okay as temps. Fingers crossed that it doesn't stutter or crash anymore, once again, thanks to Phoenix for helping me set it up, I finally understood what to do.MotoBlaine and Spartan@HIDevolution like this. -

Ok in 2-3 weeks I order the P775DM3 with a 1070 and QHD 120hz Screen, i would have waited for the 1080 but our IT branch got closed so at the the end of December im unemployed sadly, but yeah 1070 should do.
Getting probably
16GB 2800-3000 MHz DDR4
6700K
256GB SM951/961 NVMe
500 GB SSD for Games
and will reuse my 1TB from my current NB

Yep, on P775, Bios battery is soldered.
But you can reset Bios by taking out battery, RAM modules, then keeping power button pressed for a while.
I think that to properly reset vBios you need to take the card out though...
By the way, Cinebench R15 graphical test is made for CPU, no? So both Cinebench R15 tests run on CPU, no? -
for Cinebench R15.

but it isn't THAT bad tbh, i wouldn't even nearly consider the upgrade if it wouldn't be possible on my side. Just sold my P771DM-G for good cash too
, will go the 1070 route then hopefully Volta will be compatible with that book
