Any idea where i can grab the cheapest 775dm2? I want one with atleast a 1080+ 8gb/16gb ram. Storage i can add myself and the cpu and weird but a 6700k is cheaper in the philippines vs amazon rofl. Hoping i can sell my current rig anytime soon so i could get myself on to the pascal train already

What do you base your opinion on though? You haven't put forward one source of information other than your own opinion.

I'm not defending anything, I go with what works. It's funny that you class AS5 and MX-4 as low grade though, that's just ridiculous. They are high end pastes and always have been. Not being the best doesn't make them low end.

I didn't miss the analogy at all, you're just talking a whole load of nonsense to try and justify your preference of paste while belittling anyone who doesn't agree with you.

If your choice is based on performance, mx4 isn't the best choice as other say.
For conservative use or safe use, non-metal paste like gelid extreme and grizzly kryo will do.
If you dare to take some risk for better cooling, liquid ultra/pro or grizzly conductonaut will do.

In my case, I delided and inside IHS I've put liquid pro, outisde IHS gelid extreme.
MX4 is a nice one too but is not the best you can get in the market nowadays.

All I can say it it's likely user error ie. Heatsink not making good contact, not enough pressure applied, not enough metal.
However the more likely answer is these machines are underwater going from the temps. Which is a pretty pointless test if they're all sitting pretty at idle-like temps.

Honestly though, that graph is about as reliable as a fart in a hurricane.

Clue #1 the reviewer is a dropkick is AS5 is number 3 out of all those TIMs! Number 3!! Just no way.

Clue #2 ...with another Arctic Silver product as number 4! Again.. I'm not buying that... unless he's paying me *wink* *wink*

I'll eat my hat on this, Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra on air knocks a minimum double digits off every time. I'll never use anything else now.
No other paste comes remotely close. It's not even a contest.

Sure as the sun rises every day, CLU will absolutely rip AS5 a new one everytime. That's how I know something went horribly wrong on this graph.

AS5 is fine if you just want something between your AIO. If you're on air and your OC matters then a metal paste is the only way to go. Plus it's durable.

We all contributed tests against regular TIMs way back when in the Alienware m18x forums if you want more evidence. I don't have a link but you can search it.

Probably the best evidence is all our benchmarks and the temp readings. Then try and see how close you can get with AS5.

Belittling everyone? Let's stay on track here.

I think it's clear that you've fell into your own trap. You're clearly missing the points being made here and you're refusing to accept the reality that there are a lot of people on here who will disagree with you. Do you realize that?

You're trying so hard to defend a petty tube of paste ROFL, when we're just trying to let you know of the best and how it's an oxymoron to use something like MX4 (hilarious) on a high end machine, when there are better options.

We're making recommendations based on real world experiences.

How much for your MX4? It must be really special for you to get this rattled up about it. Wow.

    End of story.

Neither FHD nor 4K panel doesn't have actual refresh times under 16ms needed for 60 fps, one can pick either and be happy with it.

The fact that they are not fast enough can actually be good as they create a motion blur that helps with lower framerates.

    That is a cool comparation!

    Is Arctic Mx2 so bad?

I could get Kryonaut if it makes a difference in the long run, but some effort is implied.

It's that those old pastes are pretty obsolete in today's World with much better offerings to choose from.

I'd go for GELid Extreme first, then GC Kyronaut if you can...that's just my 2 cents :)

Ok, I've seen this specific set long ago. In fact, I referenced it when someone was looking for something cheap to check spread and contact so they didn't waste expensive paste they had bought (asked if toothpaste could be used to check).

The truth of the matter is mounting pressure effects how well the TIM works. You may not like Tom's Hardware, but check out this review:
    http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/thermal-paste-performance-benchmark,3616-19.html

If nothing else, you can clearly see mounting pressure's effect on performance of different TIMs (flip through all four of there tests before responding).

If you check the TIM link in my signature, it shows an insane amount of TIM being used by idon'tcare in a different form. He showed too much TIM barely effects the end heat when compared to too little TIM.

Obviously there can be application errors, but @Scotster, you trying to compare your temps to others with AS5 being a degree different than their application of some other paste (if I skimmed correctly) is improper. Because of variance in the silicon, some chips run cooler than others. To assert yours being almost as cool as another user's cpu using a paste shown in multiple TIM roundups to have a larger delta than 1 degree from the pastes they are using means that temp is responsible by another component, such as the CPU, a better heatsink in the Clevo lottery, etc. To assert anything else is ludicrous, including the assumption that other users do not know how to apply their paste, which is an insult to advanced users that have pasted insane amounts over the years.

Now, I won't talk **** on MX-4. In certain cases, primarily low pressure cases, I've seen it go toe-to-toe with ICD, although in other situations it doesn't compare AT ALL. But AS5 can have a delta of up to 4-5C (check medium pressure in the above link as a reference) under certain mounting conditions. To put this in perspective, increasing the multiplier to add 100MHz on an overclock can take 3-10C to accomplish, depending on jump in voltage, silicon, etc. So a better paste can, by itself in certain cases, give you one higher multiplier which can make a world of difference in benches.

So, this fight, generally, makes no sense and I'd have to say use a cheap paste if you are performing mods in an evolving project. Once the mods are complete, use the highest rated pastes, including liquid metals, to seal up your machine until maintenance time. AS5 is not as good as other pastes you can get at similar prices but with better thermal properties, but, to be fair, became the pace car a decade ago. Still, I don't recommend it, instead pushing mx-4 and noctua nt-h1 as the low cost TIMs, if cost is a concern which seems absurd for the machine on which it is used. ICD, gelid extreme, and thermal grizzly Kryonaut are all my high end recommendations (excluding liquid metal for the moment and depending on plans for use and future replacements, as well as expertise in application of the user). Of course to those that know what they are doing and have checked contact, etc., I recommend CLU our other liquid metals.

Old testing and less controls. After application and measurement, they added the info to the table as an ongoing list. This is why I look at multiple TIM roundups, throw out the outlier tests that seem to be inconsistent or unreasonable, and see what the independent consensus is in the end. See my last post just above this one.

I was actually just about to order this from HIDEvolution until I saw the GPU and CPU both reach into the 90's under full load. Is this common?

I'm assuming the person who said this did not have the fans on 100%. They had the 1080, by the way.

I don't know how these are called in English.
Some kinds of thermal pads on my memory and nvme sm951 256g for cooling.
My samsung memory is OCed @3000 with 1.25v.
I was kinda worried about memory temp which I can't even measure in a simple way.

Looks like they have a heat-spreader (sticker) attached to the memory, and a different heat speader attached to the SM961. Does HWINFO report anything regarding temps for those components?

Well, mine went back today to PCS for a repaste and screen change. The waiting continues :(

marios50: dont forget that I tried it in a P775DM3-G and you have a P750DM2-G. However according to Clevo's webpage your model should support it too. Have you tried the sticks 1 at a time? Also try to do a default settings restore before putting in the new rams.

On my first benchmark after booting up I got 90+ degrees on cpu and gpu, not sure if it was my post or another you are referring to.
But after putting a -110mv offset on the cpu and changing to the overclock fan profile all in the control panel software I am now seeing max gpu temps in the low 80s and max cpu temps in the mid 70s when under max load for long periods of time.

Yet another post I completely agree with. For some reason even the level headed guys are picking up my point wrong. I'm not really sure how else to put my point across but I'll give it a go.

I understand that there are better TIMs out there, the options you have mentioned at the end are the ones I will be looking to at some point down the line, other than Grizzly (just for fun to see what I can get out of them). My entire point right from the beginning is that certain members were coming across as complete fanboys by trying to ridicule a perfectly acceptable paste (MX-4). I understand that it's not the best that you can get, even potentially for the money, but it is still a perfectly acceptable paste to use on a machine. One member referred to it as toothpaste while the other called it "junk".

I was simply arguing against that nonsense. I backed up my argument showing that in similar conditions the MX-4, AC5, etc will hold their own against even the big boys in play now. Granted there will be a small delta difference at the top end, but not to the point where you would refer to them as toothpaste or junk. I get that when trying to eek out the last bit of performance it's an easy hit to replace the paste but it's better to see how it performs as is for a base line IMO. The way some people come across on here is that replacing the TIM will see a MASSIVE drop, which is almost always not the case. Poor pasting is more a problem than the paste itself IMO.

I really liked the results from Grizzly BTW but I'll never use it again given as after a few months it was done and my temps spiked, it's fine if repasting is a common occurrence though. My current laptop is running AC5 and it's been absolutely spot on for 18 months now.

To add my 2cents: As I got an Inspiron 17r SE for my wife, it was pasted with mx4. Under idle, temps went up to the fifties, under browsing it reached the seventies and under full load it spiked up to the nineties.
I disassembled the whole rig then and repasted with TG Kryonaut. I got temp reduction from idle (40°C) to browsing (55°C) and under full load (71°C).
The paste job firstly done with mx4 wasn't that good, which may add to the horrible results. But I am sure that Kryonaut made a significantly difference, not only because of the better paste job afterwards.

Unfortunately I haven't documented that, but after my own experiences I would classify AS5 as Low level - good for browsing, mx4 as Mid level - decent gaming might be okay and Kryonaut as High end - good for ocing and heavy duty gaming.

After half a year Kryonaut is performing with exactly the same temps as stated above. So no decrease in performance yet.

But please, take it with a grain of salt!

I feel the same about pasting tbh I think some are priced accordingly and all the results/reviews you find aren't worth the time. If you've had a personal experience with one for example mx-4 and it was good then you wouldn't be negative. However there could be better for your system, it all comes down to what you find to work best for you. I doubt everyone out there has nothing but praise for the high end (sometimes cost alone) we will all have different experiences. I can see the benefit of listening to users recommendations for their experience but bad mouthing other products is a waste of time.

for the record mine came with mx-4 paste I will be repasting but only because I choose too, not because I believe mx-4 isn't a viable paste. I want to try the liquid metal and see if it shows an improvement. With my computer idling/browsing at 30-35 across the board and after undervolt not going about 75 degrees I'm happy for now.

Well I've been playing intensely the past few days and the GPU stays around 83 at 100% load. CPU never goes above 8p after undervolting it by 100mV.

Are you undervolting using Intel XTU or the Clevo Control Center?

I found the service manual and have uploaded it for posterity.

Incidentally, does anyone know if the HDMI out on this system is 2.0, or is it still 1.4?

Question about undervolting the CPU -- if you go too far and it results in an unstable system, do you risk not being able to get back to the app and reset the voltage level? Or is it something you can reset in the BIOS?

If you undervolt using the app, it will reboot if you go too far and then the settings are reset. If you use the bios, I think an nvram reset is needed.

I was reading through the manual and in order to get to the RAM slots under the keyboard, you need to remove the CPU heatsink assembly. This isn't something I have to do on the P770ZM, so that's definitely a step back. If I'd have known, I'd have ordered upgraded RAM from HID from the get-go. At least 2x16 GB kits exist now.

Can someone confirm what type of hdmi port is on the 775dm3 or the 750? Really hoping it is not 1.4..

About the Delid I know that you did it yourselves, I thought those heatspreaders and thermal pads have come factory fitted, no warped HS made me think that Korean Reseller is quite better..

If you use ThrottleStop to undervolt, it will be able to detect and revert changes from unstable voltage resulting in crash/BSoD/etc. If you use XTU/BIOS, you will likely need to clear the CMOS.

The best thing about Korean reseller is that they sell it a bit cheaper than other resellers.
The bad thing about Korean reseller is that no customization is allowed.
They only sell two models of p775dm.
    1) 6700k 1070 8gb FHD 1TB HDD 256NVME
    2) 6700k 1080 8gb FHD 1TB HDD 256NVME

NO LCD configuration, no OC memory pre-order, no delidding by reseller.. no nothing. :(

How do you even undervolt in the BIOS? I was not able to give negative value for offset...

Playing a very simple game last night and my fans kicked in big time. Not a demanding game either. Definitely needs a few tweaks this machine

Hm, the tone has become a bit rougher I have to admit.

Basically, as always, there are Top Performer pastes like ICD, Kryonaut, GC Extreme and naturalmente CLU on Top of these. I can confirm this from my own experience. BUT that does not mean that other pastes are crap, mayonnaise or something else. They are just not as "so good" as these mentioned before, which in turn does not mean that they shouldn't be used.
If you have good temps with any paste you use, then you're good to go. It only matters, if you reach 85°C and above or want to squeeze out every bit of performance.

My personal price-performance paste is ARCTIC MX-2. Very good performance and cheap too. I would use it for every days use and standard gaming.

P.S.: Master @Papusan and @Mr. Fox recommended me to using CLU and it was golden, because it is fire&forget. Once applied, you let it run for years without beeing concerned about loosing performance.
