    Hey thanks for the info.

I just returned it and they were verry friendly, no problems at all.

Can you do a test with prime95 (ver 28.5) with the small FFT test. It gave about the same results as when I was rendering.
No need to run the test for long, i just want to compare with what i got. My results were 95°C - 100°C while throttled to 3.450-3500MHz instantly.

I was planning to write down the batch but forgot it... :(

Do you know if changing the keyboard lighting is easy? My reseller only offers it with white backlight which kinda sucks a bit. I want a proper laptop not some posh Applething XD

You can change kb colours using hotkey utility.

Thanks bigspin. According to the guys at Mountain.es, their model has only white backlight with three degrees of intensity. I can live with that but, well, I'll miss all those fancy colors...

hmm...that's unusual..Clevo P75x/77x comes with multicolour KB. Try Fn + / (num pad) and see if hotkey utility show KB colours option.

Glad that there were no issues on returning, I wonder if they'll test it themselves now.

Also, I've been trying to get an USB stick ready with all drivers on it, but I couldn't get anything to download from the clevo.tw site, and with the mysn site the bigger driver downloads keep getting interrupted (video and wlan), any other way of fetching those? Is video just the Nvidia driver? Since it seems slightly bigger than it.

EDIT: nvm, derp, US servers work on clevo.tw, just not Europe

Yeah figured Nvidia was it, and somehow on the site of Intel I couldn't get the download to start, might be an issue with my current laptop (or just their manual download site).

    Hi guys,

I am looking at P770Zm for portable workstation use (Need lots of CPU power while carry-able during flights. And nothing else basically). As the laptop shares heatsink between CPU and GPU, will a 4690K+965m combo will run much cooler than 4690K+980m combo?

And I wonder which reseller has the FASTEST shipping. Xoticpc price was good but their processing time was 7-12 days..

Our quoted production time is based of what Sager is currently estimating. If you go with any Sager reseller you'll run into the same build time. Sometimes they will be faster then that but typically always provide the same 7-12 estimate. You could PM the other non Sager resellers to get their current estimated build times.

rit ships with a cd/dvd with the drivers on it, but yeah its always better to look for them yourself on the manufacturer website (nvidia, intel, etc....) that way you're sure to get the latest versions

only if you FULLY stress them at the same time... stressing the cpu allone already gives crazy temps though... and since they share some of the cooling Im pretty sure things will get even hotter.
The gpu probably can take it since it maxed at 70°C during stresstesting (furmark) but the cpu not so much (if you get the same high temps as I did that is).

maybe i keep the money and wait for broadwell hoping it will run cooler than the haswell i had and this time i'll wait and see what ppl on here report about it.

Yeah, if you need the CPU power and can wait awhile it's just smarter to wait for broadwell. I got the suspicion the P7xxzm was designed with 65W chips in mind to begin with (Broadwell's K-series TDP). I don't need too much CPU power so I'll roll with a 4790s.

we'll just have to hope that the 65W tdp broadwell model aint gimped and is indeed fully unlocked, since its NOT going to be a K-series cpu class (only skylake S is shown to include K series models as seen on the latest intel roadmap)

btw, i can really recommend www.station-drivers.com as a one for all solution when it comes to drivers :) been using it for years myself!

Cheers, I'll take a look at it :)

You can find a manual on the clevo.tw
direct link to zip with pdf: http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftp_download.asp?sno=5371&no=1

This is the extended version though, XMG has a shorter version.

    @Dragawn,
Thanks, but this is a user manual. I'm thinking on buying this laptop without a WLAN card and i can't find a disassembly guide. I don't think i'll be able to dissect it without breaking something :)

Ohh, don't worry, the WLAN card should be under the keyboard in a m.2 slot. Shouldn't be too hard to reach, I believe 2 screws need to be undone in order to remove the keyboard, one is marked and one isn't, atleast that's what I've heard.

yep, thats correct. one of the four screws holding the backplate in place is also attached to the keyboard. another screws has to be undone beneath the backplate and its marked "KB"

then flip the machine over and use a small screwdriver to push aside the plastic clips holding the keyboard in place. be careful though, these clips are very tiny and can thus break pretty easily!

i installed my ram in the two slots under the keyboard, figured it would be better to place the ram away from cpu&gpu to save a bit of heat :)

as for the service manual, its not available YET, but u can be sure thats gonna change sometime soon ;)

First remove back panel and then remove two screws (below PIC)

    http://tieba.baidu.com/f/q---C7DBB7...8fa513d1ce94f5a3e6d55fbb3fbd935.jpg&imgsize=1

After that you need to gently remove tabs which holding KB (below PIC)

Then lift it up slowly. Do not do it too fast or you'll damage data cable.

So I got my NP9772 today. It was delivered to the office of my complex, so I was unable to refuse the delivery upon receiving it.
HOWEVER in light of this situation, I picked up the package from my office and called UPS, they told me that since I haven't opened the box yet I could still refuse the delivery and they are coming to pick it up tomorrow.
You guys have noooo clue how bad I want to open the box.. like its killing me that its just sitting there and I can't even look at it haha.

... Its to the point where I almost want to say screw the warranty... haha But I can't afford to risk something happening

My Clevo is steaming ahead without issues so no problem for me to wait. (Helps ease my pain that i can play games on the PS4 at ultra cinematic 30fps) Anyways loving the idea of a desktop CPU married to a mobile GPU at a slim 17" form factor. :) Thanks for the info.

I just found out that Prostar actually is a reseller with a good rating on here (and is listed in the list of sager resellers)...

So I'm wondering if the warranty that comes with it is just sager warranty and not Prostar, because if thats the case, then I should be able to do what ever I want and just use the warrant through the actual Sager site

That would also mean I wouldn't need to return it..

I plan on calling Prostar in the morning and seeing if its possible to get permission from them to do things (such as add SSD, swap out ram, and possibly repaste) to avoid breaking the warranty through them in case it isn't just Sager warranty.

If they tell me no then I will continue the process of returning it

Are you interested in specifically Batman-results at 3K or 980M at 3K in general?

I did a number of tests on the P35X v3 with 980M and 3K playing Shadow of Mordor. As far as I know that game has no AA apart from resolution scaling which I left at 100%

FPS comparison in Shadow of Mordor at 3K. The CPU throttled at the higher settings:

This is Shadow of Mordor at 3K High with the 980M oc:d +135/+500 MHz and the CPU capped at 3.0 GHz to reduce throttling. Gameplay smooth, fps 45-55:

@CHRiTTeR - Prime 95 results from last night:
Auto Fan - Throttled to 3.42-3.56 dependent on set (after 30min of running)
Max Fan - Throttled 3.56-3.82 dependent on set (after 1hr of running)

So it seems the throttling depends on the benchmark used. Will find out more on this as time goes on.

I need to get in there and repaste. My project of moving data from hard drive to hard drive has taken more time than expected (surprise, surprise).

I noticed that one core is regularly running about 7 deg. lower than the two highest and another is 3-4 deg. cooler than the two highest. Says something is going on with contact and transfer. Need to find out if it is b/w the IHS and HS or between die and IHS. Time will tell.

So has anyone else that placed there order recently a bit upset with Sager on the back order of monitors? Only one selection on xotic and sagers website was suppose to be back in stock yesterday 2/3 but now not stated to be back in stock till the 12th. Placed my order on 1/23 and was told everything was in stock for a smooth order but yet still sitting here waiting :(

Sager has been getting the screens in stock but not enough to fill all existing orders or not enough to have enough for all new orders.
They have been getting them in on the dates noted, but they have been getting less then ordered. Those that come in stock go to orders that have been waiting, then they push the ETA dates out to the next expected delivery.

Feel free to PM me your order numbers and I can check with Sager to see if they were able to get one for your order.

Hey thanks man, looks pretty close to my results.
Did the temps also spike up instantly or did they gradually get higher?

I observed the same difference in temperature between cores.

Concerning the difference in benchmark results... I highly suspect the benchmarks that use the AVX instruction set and do more intense floating point calculations are the ones that get it hotter. (And those happen to be important for fast rendering... so yeah...)

@Dragawn , congrats with the laptop man, hope it works as expected

So I just got off the phone with Prostar.
The technician told me I AM able to add an SSD or change out memory. He said I could even repaste if I was comfortable with my skills.
He did advise me against taking the components out of the laptop though. (the CPU or GPU)

He did say however that if I were to damage the laptop doing so that it would void the warranty.
Adding SSD - wont do any harm.
Adding Ram- wont do any harm.
Repasting - it came with stock paste.. so I'm pretty sure that needs to be changed, this is the only thing that I could think of potentially messing up
(such as improper heat sync mounting, or too much/little paste), but I'm fairly certain that none of this should be an issue.

Be careful. Very very careful. Lol

But seriously, it still seems like repasting yourself with them is a back door for them. I'd probably bench it first before repasting. You may be happy with the results. If not, when first repasting take picture or videos of what you do. So you have proof in case you get a bad heatsink like bigspin did and they can't try and pin customer fault on you. I've seen very few instances of bad heatsinks though.

Part of the reason I stick with sager. My first sager had bad mobo. Rep treated me like I was competent when I explained all my troubleshooting procedures, had me try one more thing, then issued RMA. Laptop was back in week. At first I was very disappointed, but the service and turnaround time had me sold.

Be careful with the repaste, my reseller (I went to check out a P771zm at his place today, it's a very sexy thing indeed) warned me that the GPU isn't covered as well as intel's metal lidded CPU's. Nvidia's GPU has the silicone right away, damage it and you might have ruined the chip. Although being careful to remove the paste with some isopropanol and a soft cloth should do the trick I imagine. I'd still rather get him (or someone else experienced) to do it for me though if I ever have the need, as I personally have no real experience handling hardware besides for dusting it and installing an SSD.
