its all in the OP ;)

also gonna update it with lonesyndal´s matte screen protector, should be quite handy for lots of people :)

@lonesyndal: thats not quite correct, both models can sport the fingerprint scanner, its up to the reseller/vendor whether or not they order a chassis including it from clevo. so the differences are just cosmetic in nature.

I'm going to have a SSD and a HDD (5400rpm, 7mm) in my Clevo P650SE. Does the disposition of them matters?
I can also have the Travelstar Z7K500 (7200rpm, 7mm), but i'm kinda worried the the heat can affect the SSD.

Yes it does! I have a fingerprint scanner on my P651SG. The different finish to the chassis is the only difference between them.

GPU and CPU temp are both in the 50-60C range when these stutters occur, they happen from the moment I start the game up. My laptop is always plugged in and power profiles for both NVIDIA and Windows are set to Performance.

I have noticed that the are no stutters when using the iGPU. While the performance isn't amazing, it's consistent! I have noticed that driver version 344.75 is slightly better than the rest for the stuttering, it's just strange that not everyone is experiencing this issue with similar setups and driver versions.

That would be much appreciated, I'm very interested in seeing how your systems GPU handles these tests. I'm going to try our a few more driver versions from LaptopVideo2Go and see how they affect performance.

They work fine. For Windows 8, you have to go through the account settings from the right side bar.

hmm.. I don't have win10 on my sager but do on my old beater dell D630 and the scanner works fine to login on it. Might just be driver related for our laptops. Did you try and load the fingerprint driver for win8? Not sure if that would fix you but win10 does have biometric enabled.

Hey guys, just got my laptop today. It got the 980m 4gb card.

Tested out Diablo 3 and Shadow of Mordor, but after like 5 minutes the graphic driver just crash and then i get blue screen with: Video_tdr_error ... nvlddmkm.sys.

I tested with the drivers that came with the computer and the newest ones, same problem with both. Updated my windows 8.1 now, but still same issue.

Anyone had the same issue and know what to do ? Or should i just RMA ?(really not wanna do this since, but if its the only choice..)

    Cheers

check ur temps when this happens, might be some instability causing this due to misaligned / loose heatsink or something...

My gpu temp is max 72*C and CPU is around 60-70 Max.

Can also add that when playing games like CS:GO there is no problem(not as demanding i guess)

You have to setup which fingers will be registered to the password in use. To register a scan in Windows 8, you have to go to the PC Settings (menu in the right sidebar) > Account

I am not familiar with Windows 10 sadly. You can try looking at wherever the OS has account settings at. Mines the P650SG and it works fine on Win8. I may have to check back later if you want me delving into research.

I would check this thread over at Geforce forums that addresses TDR errors and crashes. It provides some troubleshooting tips that may fix this issue for you, its worth a shot!

    https://forums.geforce.com/default/...-tdr-errors-display-driver-nvlddmkm-stopped-/

Another useful tool for your problem may be TDR Manipulator. It allows you to enable/disable the TDR Behavior in windows.

Ugh, the Clevo website is abysmal for driver downloads. Only the Asian servers are currently functional and they download at ~40KB/sec... what is this, 1995? And then Qualcomm kindly decides to obliterate its driver download page for the Killer Wireless products... gee, thanks a lot.

Some screenshots in Windows 10 showing where you need to go (very similar to Win 8.1):

    1 - Start Menu - PC Settings Win10.jpg

    2 - PC Settings - Users and Accounts Win10.jpg

    3 - Sign-in options Win10.jpg

    4 - Fingerprint Win10.jpg

Remember you need to have a password on the user account you are wanting to use fingerscans on!

    Good Luck!

Loving my laptop so far! I have noticed some frame drops in games but maybe once every 45 minutes to an hour, I just figured it was loading part of the map or something but it could be the gpu utilization that some have mentioned. Not enough to bother me too do something about it but I will keep an eye out.

Also, is it just me or does left + right click on the track pad not act as middle mouse button? I like to press both to open and close tabs on my browser and it doesn't seem to work and I couldn't find any options in the settings.

Noticed over the weekend that Clevo posted an updated Hotkey package. New one is now 3.09.21 and only thing I see is that they removed the toggle for SoundBlaster X-Fi3. Not sure if anything else is improved but seems like my fans behave a bit better when setting to custom now.

    OTHERS Hotkey driver 3.09.21 for P6xxSE\P65xSE-L\P6xxSG\P6xxSA. Hotkey.zip 189902 2015/1/6

Just letting peeps know you might want to try it out or update.

Hi dudes, is it really worth going for the 980m over the 970m? I know its better....but is it £278 better?

Unless Witcher 3 isn't playable on high settings @ 1080p with a 970m then I may have no choice....

vRAM on 970M is 3GB for its soldered counterpart. High settings yes, no ultra. Plus being a soldered machine, why would I permanently get it stuck on second best?

Checked it out, tested the tdr but it just freezed everything for me.
The other fixes didnt seem to work either.

I had gpu-z running when i tested out shadow of mordor/diablo3/arma3 and the gpu was only using 45% capacity.
Btw, Arma 3 seemed to work fine and also CS:GO.

Edit: The gpu is at 99% load, just me misreading info.

I downclocked the clock with -135mhz and now shadow of mordor worked without crashing. Maybe it fixed the issue ? i will test some more and see.

    This was when i played:
    Date , GPU Core Clock [MHz](986.8) , GPU Memory Clock [MHz]( 1252.8) , GPU Temperature [°C](63) , GPU Load [%] ,(98)

Usually the only times I see lack of GPU usage, its due to the following:

    -Bottlenecking/Throttling
-GPU power not fully needed, so it stays in a lower power state or idle
-Unable to perform at higher settings

Not sure what the current situation is until I'm off work. 12 hour shifts only do so much.

Same here, it is supposedly something related to it not being a WDM driver

    Hi All,

I have finally decided to take a plunge and go for the Sager 8651 withthe IPS screen, 16 GB RAM and the IC thermal compound. I have a few questions before taking the plunge. Please help a brother out :)

    1) I'm planning to install Linux along with Windows, and I've noticed that the Killer wireless still doesn't have Linux drivers, and to me that's a deal breaker and i would go with the default option. Is the Killer Wireless card worth waiting for the linux drivers?

2)Warranty - Do i go with the 3 year sager warranty or a 3rd party accidental warranty/insurance like squaretrade or safeway

    Regards,
    FM

Sager Warranty does not cover accidental, and costs $150 for three years. SquareTrade warranty is $300 and includes accidental with a $75 deductible per claim, or $389 with no deductible. With the CPU and GPU soldered, I would definitely consider one or the other because anything goes wrong with the CPU, GPU, or component on the mainboard, it will likely cost $600-$900 to replace it. Honestly though, 2 year warranty seems to make the most sense considering the depreciation of laptops, and cost of warranty is only $79 for Sager and $210 for Squaretrade. By this time in two years or so we will be on to much more powerful and power conscious components that your $1800-$2000 laptop will likely be worth $500-700, if that.

Fingers crossed. I work in warranties myself and if you are clumsy a squaretrade warranty is worth it. If not and you don't overclock I would just wing it but I buy every year practically. I'm in the htwingnut school of thought.

Can you add the extended warranty when your initial warranty is about to expire? So like 11 months into owning a laptop.
