On the P650SE can we have a 9.5mm HDD and a 7mm SSD (Such as the MX100) BUT with the case of the ssd removed?

Thanks for the quick response, Jaybee.

I have another question: Would it be worth removing the stock 8gb RAM and upgrading to 16gb (2 x 8gb kits of Kingston, g.skill, corsair)? I would mainly use the laptop for video editing, gaming, and school work.

Ok finally put in my 2nd IPS after the first one developed a purple streak, lost one of my screws in the process. I was able to order some replacement LCD screws from eBay though. If anyone needs a replacement screw to save you the research the size of the screw is M2.0x3.0mm flat screws.

Hello, you guys who own the P65xSx with the IPS scrren. How does the 25 ms feel? is it a gamebreaker when playing games or can u survive? :p

    thank you

depends on the thickness of the PCB inside the casing but in theory it should be possible.

no biggie, thats what NBR is here for :) why not just slap in another 8GB stick? that would save you some money and would result in the same, unless ure planning to upgrade to higher-speed RAM such as 1866 o 2133 mhz. if ure unsure about compatibility, just go with one of the big name brands such as corsair, kingston or crucial ans u should be good to go.

best laptop brand ive come across thus far, no exaggeration :) im a total clevo fanboy and proud of it :D

all the reports thus far pertaining to that 25 ms response time were completely positive with no ghosting or tearing issues observable :)

My desktop monitor has a 5 ms response time but there's barely any difference between the two so I wouldn't worry about it.

I thought the 25ms response time was for the 4k monitor, not the IPS. Is the IPS monitor really that bad? 25ms translates to 40 Hz.

Neither addresses my question. I'm not interested in debating with you whether or not 25ms is an acceptable response time for a gaming laptop.

Yes the IPS is a 25ms response time, unless you are replacing it yourself. I believe the LG that I am using and most others who have replaced it has a 11 or 12ms response time.

Interesting. Is there a retailer you would recommend buying a display from? Additionally, do you happen to remember the SKU of the replacement display that you purchased?

EDIT: the IPS display offered by Xotic PC may be different from the one mentioned so far. The Xotic PC one is labeled "LG Brand - SKU ssc878", while the one mentioned so far is a "AUO B156HAN01.2". Unfortunately I can't find any information on the LG panel.

Also if you guys haven't seen, Clevo has added P6xxSA laptops to its site (Sager NP8650) with the new GTX 965m.

A few pages back I posted a follow up on my 2 weeks after thoughts... To sum it up I basically found this laptop to be flawless it is the perfect laptop!

Fantastic keyboard too probably the most comfortable one on a laptop that i have typed on.

Also some posts about the stock lg IPS display... Its great. I do not see any ghosting at all. I was worried when I heard it was 25 ms but I can't tell. And also have found no need for the Samsung 16ms display that I had bought before hand. Although I am curious how the Samsung compares. But like I said its silly to swap since I'm impressed and very happy with the LG

Hope splintah can elaborate on his findings as I believe he has now used both pannels

Got my laptop today, first impressions are very good! The quality of the 1080p IPS panel is great and I have no dead pixels which is always a concern when getting a new display. What a huge upgrade from my previous laptop with a 1366 x 768 display, the increase in screen real estate is fantastic for productivity. The keyboard to no surprise isn't as enjoyable to type on as my KUL-ES87 with MX Clears but its definitely a lot better than what I expected based on past experience with laptop keyboards.

I was a bit worried about the WiFi performance of the AC 7265 after reading about some less than favorable experiences with it but I am having no issues here. For reference, I am connected to a 5GHz WiFi connection from my Netgear R7000. I am getting the same exact speeds as my desktop connected through ethernet.

Performance is great when working in multiple VMs with heavy multitasking and gaming performance is fantastic. Laptop GPU's have improved a ton since my last purchase some years ago (a Toshiba with an Nvidia 330M). Very happy with my purchase so far.

Here's my take on the Stock LG IPS for NP8652. My screen model is LP156WF4-SLB5. My usual setup involve an external monitor Viewsonic VX2753

My stock LG IPS has a 35ms response time according panelook and my external claims 2ms response time and 1ms GTG. Anyway I played Dota 2 and Witcher 2 real quick on both screen and I can't really tell the difference. Maybe it someone trained would be able to but I think most people should be fine.

Also I think at lower brightness (=<56 according to clevo control panel) the stock LG IPS appears kinda yellowish even if it looks better. Just a pic to show my point.
    [IMG] (Brightness 56)
If you turn up the brightness (to a point where it's a bit too much for my comfort) It will better compared to my external TN due to high contrast, etc. Take what you will from my experience. I am considering replacing but since I'm using mostly external anyway, I'm going to settle with this screen

Hi all. My P650SG is due to arrive tomorrow (after a long wait for the 4K screen!)
When I'm at home, I plan to have it connected to an external display for gaming. I only plan on using the inbuilt display for work and when gaming away from home. Trouble is, I've never hooked a laptop up to an external display before. I've done a bit of research on docking stations and there seem to be many issues with lag and max resolution, so they don't seem like a good option. Is it possible to just connect a display (either a Dell 2408 or 2711) up via DVI and stick a gaming mouse in a USB port? It sounds obviously simple, but if so, why did people ever bother with docks?

I wouldn't mind having a laptop display with 120hz and Lightboost capabilities like my desktop gaming setup but the experience is totally acceptable for me.

I think people use docks for extra ports because there's nothing wrong with connecting the peripherals directly to the laptop

There are two versions of the 7260 WiFi cards, the ones with mPCIe and the others with M.2.

hes right, the statement means to say that there are indeed two different versions of the 7260, one for mini PCIe and one for M.2 ports :) in opposition to that, the successor card 7265 only comes in M.2 format

Hey good to hear that the display has worked out for you. I actually replaced the stock TN panel with the LG IPS that I ordered so I only have experience with those two. The first IPS I ordered developed a purple streak on it, I'm not sure how but it was sitting on my chair for a while and I can only assume something heavy was placed on top of it. I replaced it with the same model, I just re-ordered it from eBay. Everything is working well now and still really loving the laptop.

What is the response time of the original TN panel vs the LG IPS panel that offer in this laptop? How was the color reprodution? Is that a significant difference between the 2 in term of color reproduction and response time?

Waiting for my 8651 with Sharp 4k to get shipped through Gentech, so hyped. But I take it those screens are hard to come by due to high demand and I shouldn't expect anything till the end of the month?

wickette/Cakefish/other owners -- could you please comment on the fan noise with the fans set to max?

I know it is cool and quiet in general, just wanted to know how it compares against the P150SM series in terms of fan noise.

LVDS screen how is it possible ? Maybe the np8652 comes with both LVDS and eDP, i tought it was just the p67xSx.

The yellowish LG is sadly a problem that affects some lg screens
