Pretty sure that was when they tortured the hell out of it with Furmark and Prime 95 at the same time and not during gaming when it handled everything thrown at it on high or ultra settings with no problems.

Hey, I think I messed something up.

    IMG_20141205_211134.jpg

Notice the huge gap under the esata/usb port? I have no clue how I did that but is there any way that I can fix this? I haven't noticed this since I put the bottom plate back on. I really wish I caught this sooner. :c Anyone else get this issue?

Can u put a USB or esata in it and very gently bend it back down? Honestly I don't think it is affecting anything.. Just a visually and Hardly noticable

I don't have an esata plug, but I tried a usb and it will not go in. Like if you saw it, you can tell that some of the port is behind the plastic... Could just be that I have to open and realign it by hand.. But I'm just nervous about snapping it.

Check htwingnut's review, referenced in the first page of this topic, I am pretty sure the figures were solid and showing a bit of room for overlooking even with stock psu

remove bottom cover again and reapply. It looks like it's just hung up on something. Easy to fix.

Sorry for the newbie question - I was charged for a Eurocom M5 PRO (P650SG) but I keep receiving wrong info on the product and actual shipping date (they keep pushing it back. Since nothing has been really processed except for payments, or shipped, is it unethical to cancel my order now (and will they do it willingly?) and take my business to XoticPC? I am worried about the experience so far and with the feedback I keep reading up on with them.

I can confirm that the Killer N1525 Wireless AC card (M.2) does work with this machine. The card is smaller width but it fits. Unfortunately the card that I received had a damaged connector pin, so I was unable to test at full speed, but single wire was getting 30-32MB/sec consistent.

Ouch! Looks like the port socket is kinda skewed. Just open up your laptop enough to see if this was forced into being skewed like this, in which case there can be damage done to solder joint holding this socket on MB, or check if the socket itself was soldered to the MB in skewed position.

why dont u just ask the reseller / vendor in question? since theres more than just one 1TB drive out there, different shops would use different HDD models in their machines :p

From what I experienced on the MSI GT72 and GS60, yes. Need to do some testing with P650SE still, but if it's anything like in the MSI laptops, it's much less susceptible to ping spikes and bouncing transfer speeds and had a higher sustained sequential transfer speed over the Intel. (~ 60MB/sec vs 45MB/sec).

Me maybe monday or tuesday morning worst case :).

THe intel 7265 i way better than the 7260, and it's gaming ready :). No need to buy a killer 1525 for that.

The 7260 is very laggy and the connection is very irregular. This is over with the 7265. For people wondering.

Just a minor update on my situation. Got it unhooked!

    IMG_20141206_100227.jpg

Just as you guys said, somehow when I was reapplying the base plate It got hooked behind the inside of the chrome bezel. So taking tfast500's advice I wedged a usb plug into the slot diagonally which gave me enough leverage to lift the bezel. It then snapped back in place! Well.. Now that I was recovering from the heart attack that event gave me, I was relieved to find that its also working as it should. Lesson learned. Always check the perimeter of the laptop's ports when closing the case!

    Thanks for the help guys!

Anyone else having a problem with USB devices requiring a lot of power over the USB bus? My portable USB displayport monitor will only give me backlight flicker, even with both USB ports plugged in giving it power. My 256GB Flash Drive also won't stay connected when transferring data over it (disconnects). I know these devices work, because they've been flawless on my desktop and my W230SS / Thinkpad Yoga, but not the P650se....

Is there a USB utility / Driver I didn't install somewhere?

I pulled the trigger and ordered the p651se from mysn (p505)... I've already got my own ssds from black Friday deals, a 512Gb crucial mx100 and a 1Tb Samsung Evo. Which one would you recommend to use for the operating system? Would it matter which one to place closer to the bottom of the laptop?

Honestly it won't matter... U may want to use the evo since it will be faster but honestly you wont notice the difference :) I would put the one you use for the OS to the top assuming it will get better airflow.

    Hello everyone,
This is my first post and I think I owe this to all of you. Over the last two weeks I read all of the Gigabyte P35x and this thread and everything else I could find about those machines. With all your help I decided to order a P505 (P651SG) from MYSN.de .
I ordered mine on Nov, 27th and I opted for :

FHD IPS Display (turned out to be a AUO B156HAN01.2)
    I7-4710HQ (no option)
    GTX 980m
    4 GB RAM
    no Disks
WLAN Intel AC 7265 (Killer N1525 AC card not available)
    unbranded

At that time the estimate for 980m was Dec. 3rd . While waiting and getting excited the date changed to 5th and then to 9th. So I could relax..... I thought...... to make it short, it was delivered to me on thursday the 4th !!!!!!!! Sorry I kept you waiting ;)
I really was surprised and hurried up to buy the rest of the internals :

    1TB Crucial M550
2TB Samsung Spinpoint M9T, SATA 6Gb/s 9.5mm (which is Seagate now)
    32GB G.Skill RipJaws SO-DIMM Kit DDR3L-1600, CL9-9-9-28

Thursday night a Win8-experienced friend came over and we installed all the hard- and software and made some clonezilla-images. Everything went smooth (with some help of HTWingNut's review-thread - Thanks !!) and we were finished early in the morning. I mounted the SSD facing the cooling vent.

    My first impressions :
    - solid construction, good build quality (no crackling or squeaking noise, little flex)
    - very minor keyboard-flex
    - no annoying noise from the fans, very quiet at idle, only wind-noise at full-speed
    - good display, just a little backlight-bleeding at the lower edges (only visible on black)
    - a bit more heavy than expected : 2780gr or 6lb - 2oz with the current configuration
    - i really like the touchpad with the seperate buttons
    - the PSU is HUGE (180W), for traveling I need to find a smaller one if possible

I have not repasted yet since I wanted to make some tests before. Undervolting is also planned, but later. In the meantime I have installed a lot of my personal stuff and everything is working so far.
I had some problems with WIFI-disconnect/no internet. Switched my router from n+g+b to b+g and now it is stable. But I have to confirm this....
I use it on my lap when on the couch. Sometimes the intake vents are blocked but CPU and GPU temps are between 40 and 60C with light usage and the bottom is just a bit warm, not annoying.
I can't provide any game-benchmarks for now since I don't have any up-to-date games yet and FarCry4 is still downloading. Will also try some Star Citizen later.
The following tests have been done using HWinfo/GPU-Z without notebook-cooler, flat on the desk, 20°C, no OC/UV :

    3dMark11, Standard, no scaling :
    3dMark11_1.jpg

    3dMark11 Temps
    3dMark11_temps.jpg

    3dMarkBasic, Standard :
    3dMarkBasic.jpg

    prime95 Temp (4 min. run)
    prime95_temps.jpg

prime95 XTU, looks like throttling due to max TDP
    prime95_XTU.jpg

    AS-SSD-Bench
    as-ssd-bench Crucial_CT1024M5 06.12.2014 22-02-08.png

I'm really happy with this machine. If I could wish for something, then I would like it a pound lighter, everything else is perfect. But I can live with the weight.
BIG thanks to MYSN.de for letting me be among the first...
Now go ahead if you have questions...
Thanks to all of you, Praedaedae

Would Crucial's power loss protection make it a better candidate for the OS? Also according to this it appears the Crucial would be faster with application startup, while evo would offer better gaming performance, though not sure how reliable is their info.

Very nice Praedaedae, you seem to be the first to have the SG.
Congrats and enjoy your new laptop
When ready can you post some temps during gaming? Would be great to see how it performs .

Question about temps and fan speed:
Right now, it seems like my fan speed is based only on CPU temps. This is a problem because I undervolted my CPU and it runs very cool. However, because of this the fans run REALLY slow and the GPU ends up getting stupidly hot. Since this laptop has 2 separate cooling systems, does it have 2 different temp fan trip settings? Or a common trip (Eg. Set to 65 degrees; will spin up fans when EITHER cpu or gpu hit that temp). As of now, it looks like GPU temps are completely ignored

Very nice temps Praedaedae! Curious to see what improvement can be achieved on the temperature by repasting / undervolting / laptop cooler. Unlike the p35x, it clearly looks like we have an out of the box ready to play laptop without thermal throttling. Can't wait to see the in-game Temps!

    I also have a question, slightly off-topic:
Anyone have a guide on undervolting the CPU (or even GPU) in laptops? Like some article you people consider reference material? I'd like to read about the whys, the hows, the pros and cons...

I'm gonna Google this topic real quick while I'm at it.

I was just wondering, if you don't install the Intel VGA driver, does that mean that the Intel integrated graphics can't work, and thus that Optimus wouldn't be able to work, leaving the dGPU as the only graphics interface?

EDIT: Well then again, that doesn't really make any sense to me, considering some generic driver is loaded up when you first boot to display Windows. I dunno, I feel dumb, but would still like an answer if anyone has one :p

No. Nvidia graphics are turned on when needed and are displayed 'through' the Intel graphics. So you need the Intel HD driver for the Nvidia graphics to work.

    Good morning,

    @ alaskajoel :
I tried 3 different USB-Sticks and my external Toshiba 2GB 2,5in HDD. All of them had no problems and worked without problems. I'm using the driver from the MYSN.de website.

    @ IKAS V :
I will play some FarCry4 this afternoon and post some results later

    @ Sebi97 :
I can definately say that my fans are working independently. When I run Furmark the GPU-fans spin up. When prime95 is running the CPU-fan gets loud.

    @ jeanjackstyle :
repasting/undervolting will be later when I have time for that. I'm not planning on using a laptop-cooler and as it looks so far, temps will be fine without.

bro, once optimus is in, it's there for life man. now I wonder if the video ports are wired to dGPU or iGPU...

also an ot question, did most of you guys decide to keep the sager logo and take it out? the logo itself isn't that great but without the logo it looks kinda weird, I'm just curious

    Igpu.
But optimus is great the only problem is the extra heat on the processor package because of the always on igpu.

Is there any actual evidence that Optimus heats up CPUs? As far as I know, directly comparing the temperature differential due to Optimus in the i7's in the G751 or GT72 to the P651SG or P35X is impossible due to the radically different cooling systems.

Everything displayed is linked toward the Igpu, if you could directly output what's displayed via the Dgpu it would heat slightly less, but an electronic Chipset (hd4600) is working when using optimus so without doubts it heats.

ps :anything compared to the P35X v3 is radically different since their CPU cooling sucks.

Just had a slightly awkward phone call with a Scan rep. She was very polite and all but was sort of confused as to why I was calling. I just wanted to double check that my order was still on their system because a) it isn't listed under the 'outstanding orders' section of my account b) the payment has never left my account c) I'm paranoid that I won't get it before Christmas. She said that I'd already emailed enquiring about the status of the order a few days ago and got a reply, which was true, but because of the reasons above I just wanted to triple check everything was still in good order, she didn't really understand that I think! Embarrassing! :p

She said they have definitely received full payment, but what is confusing me is that the money has not left my account. It was reserved when I placed the order but then never actually left, it just became available again as if nothing ever happened. What could that mean? Scan say they have the money but I also definitely still have the money in my account. Is this some sort of bank error?

Sure, but where's the evidence that it makes any meaningful difference? I could even see the argument that the iGPU will output less heat with Optimus since all its doing is passing on a signal and no longer has to render the desktop whenever you're in game.

Well, outputting the signal to the screen isn't something negligible even if pre-rendered !
Look at the difference of temperature between the Iris pro and the HD4600 during tests, with optimus. (even with the same CPU frequency and with the dGPU on) : here's your evidence i think.

Well yeah customers don't usually triple check things^^. If they said everything is ok, then multiple phone calls/mails won't change a thing, except pissing them off and make them feel you don't trust them ;), it's hard to wait ...^^.

Well seeing as the payment never left my account I think I had a valid reason to be concerned (also I am getting increasingly paranoid that I won't receive it before Christmas as time goes on :p). But she assured me that they have received payment. I just don't know why the money is still sitting in my account as if nothing ever happened though. I didn't press the matter any further, as only a fool would ask to be charged twice. I can't think I'll be lucky enough to get a free laptop on top of the free Samsung 850 Pro 1TB I've already received - no one is that lucky! Right...?

They will actually charge you when they dispatch your product, first they authorises the amount to verify you have enough funds, then bank reserve it up to 3-7days. Unless seller claim the amount during reserved period, bank will return the money to acc holder, but seller still can claim the amount after that period. In your case its pre order so scan only authorised the payment, they will charge you when they dispatch.

Yep they can charge when dispatching your order like amazon for instance. One thing is sure, they won't give you a free laptop

when did you pay ? sometimes a bank account takes time to be updated. here in France a bank transfer toward UK takes 3-4 working days to be seen on your online account.

That's what I thought but she told me they always take payment when the order is first placed. And she confirmed they have already received payment

On the 18th November. The money was on its way out, listed under my pending transactions and taken out of my available balance - but then went back into my account about a week later without ever having left fully (if that makes sense). And it's still there, fully available to spend. There's nothing listed on my bank statement about it. But she was adamant that they had already received the payment. I don't know what's going on!

That's because their payment processing system show it as payment processed. System will automatically request money from the bank when they dispatched your item and they don't have to authorise it again.

In simple English if a seller authorise payment from your account they can claim the money anytime without asking you.

    OK, that makes sense now!

Under 2 weeks, can't wait. They say only 1-2 working days from receiving the chassis (Friday 12th) until dispatch (next working day delivery) :D

Sorry if this is a dumb post... But after checking again the series of posts about screen connectors I want to be sure: if I order the laptop with a 3k screen, will I be able to install the sharp 4k on the cable/connector?
