    Again, flip it ...
Would I want an user to be able to change it in the firmware-CMOS? Hell no! The ability of an end-user to cut off their own display or, worse yet, send the wrong signals to it, is a bad, bad thing. ;)

What would have been more interesting is if the same 40 (or whatever) pin-out would automatically enable LVDS, instead of using packetized data, if a specific cable was plugged in. I.e., the cable itself included a resistor in it to enable the LVDS logic, and support FPD. And to ensure the cable wasn't used with the wrong panel, I'd have the panel-side of the cable be keyed. So you use one cable for FPD (resistor and panel-side connector option B) and another for ePD (no resistor and panel-side connector option A).

That would "dummy proof" it for even the technician. ;)

Right. I guess "unified" normally means something else than what I'm used to? Maybe "single, multi-standard" would be more appropriate?

Oculus hardware will be affordable but it does sound like it will require a $2500+ PC to play it as they intend it.

Received my p650se from PCspecialist yesterday, just finished setting it up.
I ordered the 3k screen and all the rest basic as I have my own SSDs and ram.

Loving the machine so far, seems quiet with good temps. 3k screen is gorgeous. Keyboards is lovely to type on.

My only negatives so far are:
    1. screen flex, wow there is some serious flex in the screen. I almost feel afraid to put it in my laptop bag for a days travelling.

    2. The psu is freaking huge. I am going to keep this one in the office and try and find a smaller unit for on the road (even if that means less wattage and I have to undervolt to keep power consumption down).

undervolting wont do u that much good, better to switch off / restrict 3D gpu clocks and the cpu turbo boost :) thats what i did when using a 120W psu on my P150HM instead of the modded 240W...

    Hey guys,
    I own a south korean laptop Hansung e54 bossmonster lv. 60, which is basically P650SE ( ÇѼºÄÄÇ»ÅÍ E54-BossMonster LV.60 (1TB) Á¾ÇÕÁ¤º¸ Çູ¼îÇÎÀÇ ½ÃÀÛ ! ´Ù³ª¿Í (°¡°Ýºñ±³) - Danawa.com)
I've noticed that on 3dmark firestrike similar configurations results webpage, guys who get almost 1000 more score points have fairly similar GPU frequencies - 1059 MHz, when I'am getting maximum 924 MHz, with power settings both in windows and nvidia control panel set to the max. performance mode
What's the deal there? How to turn on this boosted mode?

Yes this is the reason we went from seeing one/two screen support up to six using displayport. WAY easier to implement those extra display port connections.

That is exactly the sort of things I do. I normally use xtu to undervolt and lower multipliers, cap games fps and lower clocks. Using a kw meter without any of that I am averaging 120w so I can easily get the draw under 100.
Does the clevo 120w work ok in this model?

    thanks

you just have to make sure that the connector type is the same (barrel type, 2.5 mm inner diameter, 5.5 mm outer diameter), otherwise u can pretty much choose any PSU brand that u like :) the 120W AC adapter that i used was actually designed for HP/Compaq machines :D

My screen is shipping! But I don't have that fancy tool that WingNut uses to pry it open. Tried searching for it but came up with no results. What is that thing and where can I get one? I have a plastic gas card that is expired so i may have to use that, but I have no idea where to start. lol

Nice which screen did you get to upgrade?
Speaking of screens, I know you said the stock screen was OK but after calibrating is it still OK or better.
Would love to see pics of before and after of the same image to see what difference the new screen made.
Just watch HT video for tips, he makes it look easy but with my luck I would screw something up.

What i do is use a guitar mediator, you can also do it using... your hands :), remove the bezel carefully and progressively, Clevo (at the opposite of Dell) don't use glue between the bezel and the screen. use your nails to push the bezel toward you it shouldn't be hard at all nor dangerous for the screen/bezel.

The question I have is multi monitor support.

Can I run three external monitors from this laptop?

Absolutely. I have 3 external monitors connected via the outputs on the machine itself, and one more display via a USB Displaylink adapter. (Internal display must be disabled for this setup to work)

Three displays from the laptop are:

    Hdmi --> Hdmi

    Mini-Displayport --> Display port adapter

    Mini-Displayport -->DVI adapter

And a picture of the setup my P650 is running....although this pic shows my old razer blade pro powering it :)

As Apple showed with Thunderbolt, you can actually drive all sorts of packetized data over any interface designed for packetized data. It's only a matter of the support at each end, as well as the cable.

In all honesty, there's really no reason the PC world cannot have an unified docking station interface, and no, I don't mean over USB (which is grossly inefficient). In fact PCIe should have allowed this years ago.

I wish Intel had something like AMD's HT, instead of its separate QPI and DMI, but still, even PCIe would be enough for common docking station needs. And it would be OS agnostic ... which USB is not, because it utterly lacks standards (let alone the bandwidth is insufficient).

Does anyone know and dates or speculation when the P650SG will be coming to the US or at least when we'll be able to pre order? I've been hearing 3rd-8th of December for Europe, does this date still hold true for the US? Is it also true that the P650SG will be realeased at the same time as the P670SG or will it be later?

    Thank you in advance.

P651SE from multicom.no, they call it p651s for the 970m version and sg for the 980m one.

I picked the LG IPS, glossy. The original screen is a decent TN panel... its decent... bottom viewing angles were terrible with inverted colours though... I am glad I made the switch, it was super easy once you get over the fact that the bottom hinge covers are kinda scary to remove... the LG is nice =D

We have the SG up for pre-order and also the 17" cousin of it, the Dia 1614 (P650Sx) and the Dia 1714 (P670Sx), ETA for both is around the same time (hopefully) Mid-December.

I dont really understand why all these resellers have the 970m 3gb but dont offer the 970m 6gb. Even the msi gs60 that has been out for a bit has the 970m 6gb offered in it!!

My dream (to all usa resellers):
    - Sanded finish
    - IPS 1080p with low response times
    - 970m 6GB

Please make my dreams come true thanks!
And also, from reading the many pages here, many people would love the same preferences to pull the trigger too.

Does anybody else have graphical disruption on boot? it last for about 2-3secs before windows loading screen. It is odd as the cards is working perfectly in windows.

Also, does anybody know where I can check for an updated BIOS? (in case it this is causing it) I checked clevo but I cannot find any drivers on their site. I also checked Sagers but couldn't find the model listed.

I intend on using this laptop for professional video editing (Premiere Pro) and I'm looking into different SSD options. In your opinion, would a MX100 suffice? Or would it be a major bottleneck? Would 840 Evo be better? Trying to get the most out of my money here ;)

I'm thinking about ordering an NP8651 but I've got a couple of questions:

    1) How is the build quality? Will it hold up if I have to carry it around everyday in a backpack?

    2) Should I stick with the standard TN panel or upgrade to the IPS LG panel that retailers are now offering? Does anyone know if the response times on the LG panel will be too slow for gaming?

    Thanks

Ask them to send out a proper one, but as above, that's the cable u need and very easy to get if you don't have one on hand. Looks like this, u would have to have one lying around?? Old computer/monitor.

Worst case for me is probably Far Cry 4 which is playable at very high settings but regardless of quality settings seems to stutter exactly the same. Even Unity seems to run more smoothly than it.

The fps will be in the 60s but there will be these chops in the framerate that from my past experience is due to poor optimization no other way to really describe it. Its definitely not the machine it runs everything so well its actually amazing given its size.
