Something like this looks a little more protective (it's made from "ballistic nylon": http://www.xoticpc.com/slappa-ballistix-ptac-matrix-laptop-sleeve-for-156-larger-laptops-p-4953.html

Am just not sure whether it would give a snug fit or not on a P65xSE

The have them for sale in the UK here: http://www.slappa.co.uk/laptopbags.aspx

Same mouse I ended up getting. Best gaming grade wireless mouse out there. Also can run on just 1 battery to cut down weight. It ended up being too heavy to use two batteries for longer gaming sessions as my hand would get tired. Very nice and responsive as well as an excellent choice for this laptop.

If I flash the EC and BIOS from XMG on my Clevo, will the BIOS splash screen change or something?

I did get this mouse too, vouch for it! For the bios you will get the corresponding logo (xmg, premamod...)

yes, the bios splash screen will change into a green XMG logo (looks pretty sleek, btw ;)), but only if u flash the bios. flashing the ec will not bring any visually discernible differences...

edit: updated the OP with the latest news regarding Nvidia´s infamous clock-block on mobile maxwell :)

I'm continuing to have problems with my Mythlogic Dia 1614 (Clevo P650SG) shutting down seemingly randomly. This started after I updated the EC, the BIOS, and the hotkey software (3.09.21) with new files that I obtained directly from Mythlogic. I flashed them hoping to get rid of some graphics stuttering. I have attached a picture of my BIOS screen. If anything looks amiss, version-wise please let me know.

Observances/things I have done about the issue:

    • I've set windows not to automatically reboot on a blue screen and to do a full memory dump.
    • When the laptop 'crashes' there is no blue screen
    • I have about a 1 second warning that it's about to crash, you can hear the mechanical hard drive park, the monitor fades to black, and the machine powers off - This process *feels* almost like the laptop is shutting down because I have asked it to shutdown. But I haven't and Windows apparently isn't aware it's happening either.
    • There is no memory dump created
    • Upon the next boot up, Windows declares that the last system shutdown was unexpected.
    • After each of the crashes I manually do a chkdsk /f on both the SSD boot drive and the D:\ mechanical drive. Not once has there been any file system issues after one of the crashes. I find that some what strange, in my experience it's not uncommon to have orphaned file segments after a Windows crash.
Any recommendations of what to try next?

    First of all monitor :
    PCH temperature
    GPU/CPU temperature

Motherboard failure is my opinion, if there was a problem with the BIOS you would've seen the forum already flooded ;).

I'll take a look at the temps to see if anything jumps out at me.

Anything is possible, but I don't feel like motherboard failure is likely, given the timing of this issue starting immediately..... and I mean mere minutes.. after flashing the EC/BIOS and upgrading the hotkey software.

A 10 minute CPU stress test in Intel XTU reveals:
95C max CPU temp, 90 average
    0% Thermal throttling
    3% max current limit throttling
100% max Power Limit Throttle, 54% average
    3.32 GHz average CPU frequency

The max temp definitely seems higher than it was before the EC/BIOS/Hot key software upgrade

    Guys,

My touchpad has just stopped working. I clicked on it and the cursor disapeared. No cursor appears if I move my finger on the touchpad and none of the clicks work.
Rebooted the PC to no effect. The fingerprint reader works fine as well as the plugged mouse. Any idea what's wrong?

Even weirder the keyboard "stutters" e.g. it will occasinally miss a key I type (every second or so)...

Edit: reinstalling the drivers did noting.

    Thanks.

LG makes superb pannels.. You won't ever be disappointed.. I have an LG TN 60Hz display: LG Philips LP173WF1 is the model... It's gorgeous for a TN display, great viewing angles.. I wish the colours were a bit better but it's probably my lust for an IPS display :D

Those temps are not too good.. Try repasting.. I was initially thinking it might be HDD fault but from the looks of it, it seems to be overheating.. However your computer shouldn't be shutting off at 95C... More like 100C++..

I'm thinking this is most likely a hardware issue, would most likely need to RMA it.

It's not shutting off related to temp at all. In fact it shuts off when idle or browsing the web more often than not. It did not shut down at all while running a 10 minute CPU stress test or a 30 minutes memory stress test in XTU.

So, from what I understand, the SAGER 8652 (Clevo p650SG) can have a 7mm+9.5mm 2.5" drives stacked one against another.

I know it -can- be a problem with heat for HDDs being stacked in Desktops. How much of a problem would it be to have a...

    seagate 2TB 9.5mm 5400RPM (2.5") drive stacked against a WD 1TB (7mm) 5400RPM drive
(then having both run with Intel SRT 64GB Cache's split from a 128GB M.2 SSD with a 256GB M.2 SSD as a boot drive?

I know that having the Hard-drives inverted, one right side up, one upside down should ensure that the intake holes aren't blocked (the label that says: DO NOT BLOCK THIS HOLE)

You can decrease to 90-91 by a simple repasting, from the looks of it, it doesn't look like an overheating.
However no way you can reach the PCH temps ?

Try reflashing your bios using XMG files (no sager only clevo)

I have looked through the various distributor/reseller and decided to go for Mythlogic Dia coz I can select without HDD to save weight (only a pair of m.2s) and also cheaper. What do you guys think of Mythlogic and is the screen from their unit the proper IPS model? Anything I should watch out?

If you have removed the keyboard to install mem you may have gotten the smaller ribbon cable disconnected. It's really easy to pop out of the motherboard connector if not careful. If you haven't removed the keyboard then maybe it's just the cable not connected or has come loose? Might be worth it to pop it out and check the smaller mylar ribbon cable.

I would email XoticPC and ask them the exact model of LCD in that system. According to HTwingnut he said that the standard LCD display in the P650SE was subpar. I'm in a similiar conundrum because I don't know whether to order the standard TN panel LCD or order an upgraded IPS panel, but with the caveat that the response times are higher and may introduce ghosting.

Can anyone with the IPS LCD in their P650SE tell us their LCD model and the results of this ghosting test:

UsaPatriot, im confused, i thought the stock screen was a TN screen?
So ghosting comes into play when the fps is higher than the screen can bear?

Thank you! What do you visually see of the moving UFO's when running the test? Is there any blurring at all?

The stock screen IS a TN screen. There are upgraded IPS options also available but the model of the IPS screen seems to differ depending on the reseller.

EUROCOM specifies an AUO B156HAN01.2 for their M5 Pro/P650SE.
Still waiting to hear back from XoticPC and Prostar.

I love it. It's the best screen I've ever had on a laptop and have no issues with it.

There is is a bit of blurring on the ship as it moves by but honestly i never notice that kind of stuff playing games like evolve or bf4. and the blurring doesn't really bother me at any rate so if you absolutely can't stand any blur you're probably better off getting a sub 1ms TN screen. but i think the color and viewing angles more than makes up for some blur.

I'm not entirely sure, I think they're indicative of the particular characteristics of your LCD screen or Windows display settings. They're not as important as the moving UFO tests and their interpretation though.
This is good to know. I understand a TN panel would be slightly more responsive but because I do color sensitive work such as video and photo editing, I think I could put up with some slight blur for better color accuracy and reproduction.

Just offering my experiencing in terms of display options. I purchased from XoticPC with the IPS panel option but they accidentally sent me the TN panel. The TN panel is the stock configuration and I extremely highly recommend you do not get it. The colors are absolutely terrible as is the brightness. Color shift occurs when I tilt my head up to scratch my neck... Long story short, do NOT get the stock panel (TN). Spend the $45 extra and get the IPS. I believe the IPS is a LG model but I can confirm for sure when they ship me my replacement.

there isn't a $45 upgrade anymore on xotic, its just the ips, if i go 1080, ill definitely get this! i saw your posts a while back with side by side comparisons and the tn looked pretty awful... i don't care if i have a little blur, that was bad
