ATTENTION NOTEBOOK ENTHUSIASTS!!!
Nvidia has decided to block overclocking on their mobile GPUs starting with the 347.xx driver series, calling it a "bug" that was corrected!
If you find this as unacceptable as I do, please take part in the following petition started by our follow NBR brother iata and survey by MySn in order to bring this development to a halt! Otherwise, machines like the P65xSx series will NOT be developed anymore in the coming years, due to (understandable) lack in mobile enthusiast hardware!
Thank you in advance, much appreciated!
Great news everyone! It seems like the ****storm emanating from the mobile enthusiast community made Nvidia rethink its position:

Thanks for all your support in this, lets hope Nvidia stays true to its word and releases an overclocking-capable driver next month! If not, you all now know exactly what to do
Alright folks, in anticipation of my new rig I thought I'd start a respective owner's lounge

i like where this is heading....
alright, enough for today *yawns* time for bed!
if anyone´s got any more infos than ive already provided in the first post, let me know!
cheers and good night fellas -
I'm really looking forward to getting the P65XSE, but I'm not sure where to buy from. I kinda wish I could get the P651SE, but so far the only vendor I've found that carries it is in the EU, and it would cost WAY too much to get it shipped to me in the US (I'm on a ridiculously tight budget). I'm also hoping for one that sells to the US that will offer a CPU upgrade. This will be my first upgrade since my Precision M4400, and since I don't get many chances to buy a new laptop, I need to get as much system as I can.
So far, these are the system builders I've found that are offering versions of the P650SE/SG (brushed) and/or P651SE/SG (sanded):
Mythlogic (P650SE/SG): Dia 1614
Eurocom (P650SE/SG): M5 Pro
Schenker (P651SE/SG): XMG P505 Pro
pcspecialist (P650SE/SG): Defiance 15
Aftershock PC (P650SE/SG): Aftershock S-15
Scan (P650SE/SG) 3XS Graphite LG1520
MONSTER® (P650SE) TULPAR T5 V4.1.1
If anybody knows of any others, especially those that are selling in the US and offer a CPU upgrade, please share!Last edited: Dec 11, 2014 -
Awesome this is great. What I'm looking for! So far this looks like my next laptop.
reborn2003 and Dabeer like this. -
@dabeer: bluemobility and xtreem in poland are also offering the 651 version at a ridiculously low price (because its poland i guess! ) go ahead and check out their configuration pages, i for one thought their prices were insane (identical config that i ordered for like 600 less :-O)
but if push comes to shove, would it be so bad to get the 650 instead? its just looks, after all, and the important thing (especially on a tight budget) is performance -
Edit: I wonder if I'm getting bad currency conversion rates, but those are coming in at a base price that's about $150 higher than I can get the 650 for here - and that's before importing!
-
aaah, gotta love those cheap-a$$ US prices
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yeah it can make sense to import on occasion.
-
are there any of these models that have IPS?
-
ummm....different model? thats the P157SM not the P65xSx...
-
I just tried configuring the P651SG on Bluemobility and got an insanely low price, While the listed price is 6200zl ~ 1500, I got a quote of 5000zl ~ 1200 on checkout with free delivery and free 3 years guarantee ? Is this site reliable ?
-
whats ur definition of "listed price"? try and redo that config, see if the checkout sum still says the same. this early in the game, its usual that sellers often change their pricing on a daily if not even hourly basis back and forth... saw something similar over at the schenker website, albeit with a smaller scale.
-
The listed price on this page is 6220zl, but when I configure and add the PC to my card, it became 5000zl. I tried making the preorder and they sent me a confirmation email with the price at 5000zl too, dunno why.
Anyway, is this reseller reliable ? I tried to search for some reviews but I find nothing. -

Thanks to jaybee83 for opening this thread! Yes these models should be a good seller for Clevo - Sager!
-
No clue, but beyond that you might want to reconsider, that appears to have no HDD, SSD, or operating system. If you plan to add all these yourself thats fine, but don't want you making a mistake. It also only has 4gb RAM.
Edit: You can add those all in the configure page, just reminding you to do so. -
well, i just hope u chose payment on delivery, cuz then it doesnt really matter if that reseller is trustworthy or not, ull just pay for what u get in the end
edit: welcome to the team larry, hope u already have a machine ready for HTWingNut to test and review for us NBR folksldkv likes this. -
I just got an email from them. Actually the price of 1200 is not included with tax. The real price is 1500€, about the same as other resellers in EU, which is a little out of my reach . Guess I have to make do with GTX970M then. -
aaah so there lies the culprit ive made the same miscalculation several times in the US already, just cant get used to those price tags without tax/wage/tips included
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Yes, I have to pay that lovely 20% when I bring a system in too, a least it is just VAT and no other duty.
-
The decision has been made, the order has been placed. Come early November, I will be a proud owner of a Dia 1614 (P650SE) from Mythlogic!
-
Can the laptop boot from the m.2 drive?
-
thats a very good choice my friend!@dabeer
@belegdol: yes it can! both in sata3 and pcie mode
just realized....this is gonna be my first ever uefi/switchable graphics/4k display/non-PATA non-SATA hdd supporting machine i feel like such a newbie, exciting! -

-
I would love to see the HT review of this. DO IT HT!

Question: what's the difference between the sanded and brushed metal chassis?
-
-
its just a different way the metal chassis was manufactured. the upper layer was either sandblasted, which results in this almost black (and i guess kinda rough/non-smooth) texture, whereas the brushed metal would have a rather shiny and smooth finish.

I really like how Mythlogic breaks down the M.2 options in the Clevo P650Sx, including offering the Plextor M6e x2 and Samsung XP941 x4 options. The XP941 seems to be the clear winner, and the only one really worth going for if one is going to go for PCIe. However, I am a bit concerned with some of the heat issues that some articles are starting to cover when it comes to PCIe connected M2 devices.
Anyone else heard anything? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Usually if you want a config that's not offered on the website you can call and ask for something specific.
-
concerning the heat issues, afaik schenker includes thermal pads with M.2 devices that allow them to use the chassis as a huge heatsink. i guess when push comes to shove we users have to come up with our own solutions in order to keep those M.2 drives cool n stable
-
Hi All, I am looking to get one of these the Clevo P650SG. Shipping here from pc specialist in the UK is the 12th November. Can't wait.
-
welcome to the humble P6x0Sx home my friend im also already counting the days until all components will be available at my reseller. so far it looks like ill have to be patient until end of november/beginning of december. BUT: my trusty old P150HM has been revived and is already on its way back, so theres something to pass the time with

check my sig for the config im waiting for but yeah, waiting on 980m/4870hq and the UHD display, theyre all available a bit later. its funny, the higher end the hardware gets with this model, the longer u have to wait for ur machine
-
any pics and videos of sand vs brushed finish ?
-
u can check mysn.co.uk for the sanded version and mythlogic/xoticpc websites for the brushed version

I've got a credit with XoticPC for now just sitting there until I decide on things, though with all these new releases, I'm holding off another week or so to see whats coming up. -
ah ok, so no preorders for sager and resellers? huh...
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Until sager give the go ahead/details there is not much you can do.

Guys what do you think of those 100°C furmark temp ?
If I choose a 4710HQ+repaste IC7,, it should erase any throttling even with furmark no ?
The second review stated 94°C which is quite high but far from catastrophic.
I'm hesitating between a fangbook edge 6GB 970m or a P65x 980m 4Gig -
well as they said in the review, that 100C was just when using furmark AND prime95 in parallel for one hour. during regular gaming sessions they did not encounter any throttling whatsoever
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
100c as a highest peak temp worst case loading will be ok.
