With the latest EC, auto fans are pretty quiet under high load. I prefer over clock because the extra noise is worth the drop in temps for me.

It shouldn't you can always undo it, and they wouldn't be able to tell really, unless you like fry it or something.

I was wondering if anyone could answer this question: is there a 3K (i.e. 1440p) 120Hz panel that would be compatible with the P650RS? I recall seeing a Clevo with a 3K 120Hz panel but it might have 17" laptop

Do you think that there is any chance an OLED panel might come out that could be retrofitted into this laptop?

Is it possible to refit a 670rs or rp with 1440p 120hz or 1080p 120hz with gsync? How about p650?

Thanks for the great news @gooface! Happy to see that the external display lag has been resolved, my system hasn't even begun assembling and I'm already stoked about it! Hope the team at HID flashes the latest BIOS and EC before sending my P650RS-G across :biglaugh: I'm glad it got delayed a bit since I got my exams coming up too :bigwink:

Oh AND WE'RE GETTING GEARS OF WAR 4 WITH THE GTX1070!

This is an interesting question. @Meaker@Sager I'm assuming the panels in the P775 aren't compatible with the P670s right?

Are you guys able to pull anything from the clevo driver page? For me it says pages are unreachable for europe link after sending a request for a couple of minutes. Same thing for usa and asia link.

That comes down to mounting, cable connector and cable. I don't know the clevo factory options off the top of my head. What exact panel do you have in your machines?

Just updated the bios of my p650rp6-G (15" with 1060). The update process ran iteself as soon as you launched the EFI shell. no typing involved.
    Versions are now:

    Bios old: 1.05.01 new: 1.05.03
    EC old: 1.05.02TR1 new: 1.05.04

I figured out how to solve my washed out colors when in mshybrid mode with external display: when you go to the nvidia resolution page dynamic range doesnt show unitil you select 2nd screen only. There you can change limited to full range.

Apart from that my old problem still persists with dedicated mode and external montior. If you reboot with hdmi attached everything is cool until that changes. Then a process called system starts running at 20% cpu usage and keeps all core speeds around 3Ghz.

Also with mshybrid and external monitor, chrome still feels a bit choppy(not extremly but far from smooth). This however seems to occur mostly when chrome is the only thing on screen, if its on the side or something else like a load window or whatever is layered ontop of chrome, it scrolls normal and smooth.

Exel apperrently shows the same choppyness when hdmi is plugged in.

Also this EC feels verry agressive compared to the old 1.05.02tr1 version. Cpu and gpu are round 40c and it randomly starts to slowly rise up and goes back to quiet again. Also seems to kick in way to hard when the cpu has some load on it.

Has anyone had this issue on their Clevo 650RS/SAger NP8153S where the system process uses high cpu? I traced it to the ntoskrnl but don't know what else to do. I've already tried updating my network and Bluetooth drivers as well.

If I want to limit fps (for g-sync purpose) do I have to instal MSI Afterburner or just RTSS? I install RTSS alone, set fps limit, and... nothing happens... 190fps in DOOM 2016...

I wouldn't bother with it atm. We have run tests and gsync doesn't appear to work even when fps is limited below 60fps. So you basically have to use vsync atm or get some tearing. I used Riva with afterburner and it worked fine for me though.

Has anyone tried dual booting windows 10 and ubuntu? Ubuntu gets stuck on the loading screen while installing and I spent a couple hours debugging to no avail.

Just confirming that flexicharge seems to be working for me after bios update. I'm at 91% and "plugged in, not charging" in windows 10

EDIT: Flexicharge only works after you change the setting in BIOS and you do not shutdown. Once you shutdown the notebook flexicharge is "forgotten" (though the settings in BIOS don't change) and you need to redo the settings in BIOS even if it says your previous settings. I restarted and entered/exited BIOS without changing my flexicharge settings and it still didn't kick in win10 unless I enabled the already enabled flexicharge settings.

So I can't remember where I found the post on nvidia forums but someone said to try Gsync in Windowed mode. I set OW to windowed mode, turned off the frame cap, have Gsync on and NVCP vsync off and can't see any tearing. Gsync settings (fullscreen or fullscreen+windowed) doesn't seem to do anything. Can anyone else test with other games? I have P670 running at 75hz.

Fullscreen + GSYNC (vsync off) = ~84-85 fps, 2 tearing points, input delay avg 11.8ms

Fullscreen + GSYNC (vsync off) + frame cap of 70fps = no tearing, input delay around 14-15ms

Windowed Mode + GSYNC (vsync off) = ~84-85 fps, no tearing, input delay ranges from 11.8 to 15ms, feels laggy

Borderless Windowed Mode + GSYNC (vsync off) = ~84-85 fps, no tearing, input delay ranges from 11.8 to 15ms, feels smooth just like fullscreen

I haven't booted Ubuntu but I can try later. You may need to use noacpi and/or acpi=off as the boot options. I used some live cd (idr which) that had an older kernel and wouldn't boot unless I threw those options. If you let me know where it gets stuck (like if it says anything), and what version you're using, I can try it later tonight probably. I managed to get a fully working Gentoo build with minimal effort so I'm sure Ubuntu can work.

When you did bios update? Flexicharge works right after I set it in bios, but stops after a few power off and on. Right now for me is pretty useless.

I wonder if anyone runs a desktop as their main machine to their P650. I'm mainly curious as to how the noise levels are like comparing the laptop and the desktop. Assuming similar builds of course.

The laptop will be noisier, by a relevant amount of difference. Specially these thin kind, since the fans are also thin and have a higher pitch.

That beeing said, for most that is not an issue. No one can tell you if it is too loud for you. ;)

My desktop is louder, but if you have large quiet fans I'm sure it could be made quieter. Small, high rpm fans will almost always be louder.

    When I play CS-GO in my P650RP6:
    Fullscreen + Gsync + Vsync Fast + Cap 59fps = No tearing, input delay = 17.0ms (in-game cl_showfps command)

Is there input lag in here? I don' know if 17.0ms is the actual input lag or they just got it from 1000/59=16.95

(I know... Vsync Fast is only for fps > 60 but if set to OFF I have some tearing points. It's weird setting the Vsync to fast removes these localized tearing)

My office uses these as our primary machines now (3x P650RP6-G). Anywhere from 1-3 external monitors connected, dGPU mode + NV Inspector power saving mode, USB3 hub with external keyboard/mouse/etc.

For typical work stuff the fans remain off. Occasionally for CPU intensive stuff they'll spin up but it's unnoticeable since we all have headsets to use for phones (software SIP phones).

FYI, for anyone quoting "Input Lag" figures from software, this ONLY takes into account the input chain -> engine. This doesn't include anything on the output side.
This is mainly to debug engine related issues and doesn't really tell you anything about the output chain except for where things like V-Sync hold up the pipeline.

This doesn't include buffer transmission to the panel and actual pixel changes.

From some testing earlier in this thread I think we found that GSYNC + VSYNC and just VSYNC were giving the same results. VSYNC might be taking over even for <60fps. Can you test with just VSYNC and with only GSYNC (no VSYNC)? Thanks for testing!

edit: NVM I see that you had tearing with VSYNC off. Can you test in windowed with GSYNC on+vsync off?

Thanks for clarifying this! I guess if I don't feel any lag then it's good enough.
I already did some tests and posted here. For the recap:
Gsync Only = Tearing all monitor (no fps cap), tearing localized areas (fps cap < 60)
Vsync Only = No tearing BUT fps jumping from 30 and 60
Gsync On + Vsync On = No tearing BUT stuttering

Vsync does require an integer division of the screen resolution to function so if you are getting 58FPS then V-sync is off if your refresh rate is 60Hz.

You could try playing with the triple buffer and maximum pre-rendered frames.

Do you notice the same problem as me with the p650rp6-g in dgpu mode when plugging in hdmi when the laptop is on? My cpu cores start to run at 3Ghz and a proces called system starts to run at 20% cpu usage. What bios are you running also?

I wish that was the case, unfortunately, my wife can

That's interesting to see two different responses. I game at work from time to time (mostly Runescape) and even that gets the fans spinning even at 40-50% GPU utilisation at best. I dread what it'll get to when GPU utlilisation gets higher.
I'm asking the question mainly because with the British Pound dropping, building a PC is much cheaper at this stage compared to keeping my P650RS. I'm thinking of returning it and getting a more lightweight/quieter solution while having a 1070 PC at home. Guess I'll have a few numbers to crunch.

It improves battery lifespan because it stops charging battery at chosen by user level. It's important if you mostly use your clevo on AC.
