This might be important to state:

ALL TESTS ARE DONE WITH G-SYNC OFF
All Tests are done with Control Center @ Gaming Mode & Automatic Fan Profile
We use Grizzly Kryonaut on CPU and GPU
We replace stock thermal pads with Grizzly Minus Pads
Currently we are running stock BIOS and stock VBIOS
If you want specific benchmarks please ask, same goes for pictures :)

We have already delivered a fair amount of units (both RP6-G and RS-G) and up to know we have only happy customers, so this model seems stable, only thing that i am investigating is one client who says he gets bad audio if he plugs headphones in the Headphone jack but it works good in the Line Out Jack, this was in a RS unit.

Now for the Bench and Stree with the RS (1070), unit used was a P650RS-G.
-Notice that the cooler actually makes a good diference in the CPU, with the RS cooler it takes a LOT more time to reach the highest temperatures (which was 80ºC), and notice that the max GPU temp was 77ºC (which for a GTX 1070 looks very good).
(The RS seems like a perfect match for the 6820HK for some overclocking,).

    ALSO:
You now have some overclock options in the BIOS (stock bios):
    -You can OC the memory
-You can OC the CPU if its a 6820HK
-You can OC also with CONTROL CENTER, including GPU OC like previous generation

At the time being the CONTROL CENTER CPU AND MEMORY OC app is not woking, crashes on launch in all units i tried, there should be a updated version very soon, for the time being you need to OC in BIOS

    P650RS-G GTX 1070

Max Temperatures reached during above tests:

CPU: 76ºC with 10m AIDA Extreme

10 minutes Prime with 8 thread (max heat mode):

    Max CPU temperature: 80ºC

1070 is big jump from the 1060 in performance.

    FireStrike Standard Scores
    4720qm & 980m = Graphics 9737 Physics 9282 TOTAL 8282
6700qm & 1060 = Graphics 10763 Physics 9558 TOTAL 9132 (10% faster than 980m, but much less power used, so should be cooler)
    6700qm & 1070 = Graphics 15940 Physics 9586 TOTAL 12394 (63% faster than 980m, and 48% faster than the 1060)

UPDATE: Just ran FireStrike on my new desktop 1070 ([email protected] &EVGA1070SC).
    4770k & 1070 = Graphics 18899 Physics 12208 TOTAL 15107

This makes the desktop 1070 19% faster than a laptop 1070. Still the laptop card is amazing.

Can you post pictures of the charger? The notebookcheck review says it's kinda bulky.

Also, if possible, what's the size of the cord from input to charger and charger to output.

    Thanks in advance!

You can select to use Switchable Graphics or use just NVIDIA in stand-alone mode. That is valid for 1060 and 1070 units.

I just ordered a P650RP6-G and I was wondering if the processor is upgradable after-market? I know I can swap out the GPU at some point down the road, and SSDs and HDDs, RAM etc. How modular is this laptop. Thanks for all the info guys I was lurking on here for a while before I pulled the trigger this morning. :)

The major components(CPU, GPU) are soldered in. I imagine it would be very difficult and expensive to upgrade it later on if it's even possible. I think maybe the bigger clevo models have upgradeable GPUs? I'm not a clevo expert...

Ive heard of them. Think they were recommended a few times. I would just talk to all the top resellers and see who has the best price for what you want. I went with lpcdigital because Larry was super helpful and got me the best deal.

    A couple things:

    1) Can someone snap some thickness comparison photos between the P650RP6-G and P650RS-G?
    2) Has anyone real-world tested the battery life on the P650RS-G? Is it comparable to the RP6-G, for standard light web/etc. with WiFi on? (especially 4K display models)
    3) I'm still a little unsure how the RS-G handles GPU switching - iGPU to dedicated is BIOS-only, correct? Thus in iGPU mode the 1070 is totally disabled? Most places seem to list the 1070 as not having Optimus, but John's post reads like it does.

Thanks everyone, and thanks John@OBSIDIAN-PC for all the pics and benchmarks so far. Very helpful.

some comparison pics would be cool. But if you want to get a rough idea you can always just use a ruler and draw two boxes side by side and have one with the height of the rs and another with the rp6. As for battery life assuming u are running the Intel GPU it should be the same. Gaming on the 1070 vs 1060 should be worse though. The GPU switching is confusing me a bit as well. What I do know is you can't use Optimus and gsync. So it's one or the other in that respect.

Not BIOS only. There is a system options program that controls fan speeds, power profiles, etc where you can select MSHybrid (Optimus, no gsync) or discrete (gsync). Restart after selecting for changes to take effect.

Not 100% certain since I haven't gotten mine yet, but I'm fairly sure. So when you first boot up and open the control center or whatever it's called, I think discrete graphics will be selected. This will allow GSYNC to function. If you instead select MSHybrid then restart, optimus will function and GSYNC will not engage when you open a game.

Wait, AFAIK, optimus use auto-switch (on-the-fly) while MS Hybrid use manual switch that need reboot.
I don't know the reason why, but today enthusiast gaming laptop (Clevo, MSI, Asus, etc) no longer support Nvidia Optimus or AMD Enduro. They just use manual switch.

Because Optimus doesnt work with GSync as the monitor needs to be connected straight to the nvidia card and cant be routed through the igpu to the nvidia card.

    thanks for this information :)
I'm looking for the P650RG-S , it would be possible order a full RGB keyboard instead of the white one?
and on this review of the model of P6 , we have the hdmi 2.0 for a 60fps UHD ? this is a very important matter for me because I have a 4k tv and I don't have a Display Port

it seems the full RGB keyboard depends on whom you order from. Sager, hidevolution and a few others seem to be providing the colored keyboard. Others have only white. The laptop has an HDMI port but I'm not sure which HDMI version it is. The clevo website does not specify, sorry.

    Edit: did you mean p650rs-g?

Oh exactly sorry for my mistake , I wanted to mean the p650rs-g :D

Yes, the info on the website on clevo isn't clear on some stores they announcement the hdmi 1.4b(sager for example) and in other stores, they already announcement the 2.0 ( if you look for P650RS. http://alteredqualia.com/texts/notebooks ), I expect someone here could clarify about that issue pls

    Hi :)

Catching up on this thread, trying to understand switchable optimus settings.

In nvidia control panel, my previous laptop showed all external monitors routed through the igpu, the nvidia control panel was extremely stripped down (3 settings tabs) and i couldnt do 3D gaming directly on 3D TV which was annoying as the dGPU was capable of doing it. With this ability to switch off optimus, does nvidia control panel show displays routed directly from dGPU? Do you also get more nvidia control centre tabs than the default 3?

if the 1070 mode manages to stay in the 80 to 87°C margin that's fine for me. after all i have a 2-3 year warranty so
LOL, with clevo you'll always have a BIG giant psu but the good thing is that it's good quality and reliable. It does not heat as much as say my dell 90W or 60W psu
