What do you think is the best thermal past , notice that I C Diamond and liquid metal have good thermal conductivity and bad reputation of leaving scratch and burn marks, and liquid metal did worse.

Kryonaut or Gelid GC Extreme would be top two choices. Depends whats cheaper for you really. Kryo is newest to market so may not be as available there as gelid.

So I just got off the phone with Sager tech support, they told me that the backlight issue is not really something easy to fix and its not the panel, its the plastics keeping the panel in either not applying enough pressure around it or not enough...

Told me if I wanted to take pics of my laptop and send it to them they could determine if they could re-fit the panel to remove some of the backlight bleed, but there is no complete fix for this... they are saying they dont have control over this.

Guys do you know why my GPU cant reach 95+% GPU usage? , because playing Battlefield 4 on ultra i only reach 60% with an average of 65 FPS on ULTRA (i have an p670rp6 GTX 1060)

Liquid metal is completely unrivaled in both longevity (for CLU at least, CLP hardens and the jury is out on Phobya/TGC) and thermal conductivity. We're talking as much as a 10C difference under load. The downside, obviously, is the risk of it leaking out, but since your reseller would be applying it, they bear the costs if something goes wrong.

I ordered mine with Diamond IC mainly because that was the only offering as part of a discounted "special". However, I've heard that Diamond IC can leave little scratches on the heat sink surfact and it doesn't perform as well as Gelid GC Extreme (or Kryonaut). I ordered a tube of the Gelid so I can do a repaste job if needed (and repaste my desktop system while I'm at it).

For more on the impact of paste and the P650RS see this thread:

Right, I would never put on liquid metal myself, but having a builder do this gives you protection under whatever warranty they offer.

I'm planning on using Gelid GC Extreme if the factory paste doesn't hold up. Gelid GC Extreme does surprisingly well on these machines (see above mentioned thread) and does not conduct electricity so you don't have to worry about frying any components from a little spill.

One issue people have run into is that the heat sinks on these units are not always perfectly flush with the onboard CPU/GPU and this can lead to paste oozing out the side. I have wondered about trying to lap the heatsink to make it more flush with the onboard components but this is beyond anything I've had experience with. Apparently just repasting is pretty straight forward (or so I'm told).

I heard that pasting liquid metal thermal paste on GPU can cause issues? I realize it too when ordering from HID where the option on your GPU isn't there.

Always check a liquid metal's chemical safety sheet, as well as documentation, to make sure it is safe for your use case.

Kryonaut is not a liquid metal.

This may be silly but does it bother anyone that the headphone jack is on the right? I've always had it on the left in my previous machines (I have standard headphones that plug on the left).

It been normal to me I am coming from a lenovo y50 and a cheapo asus laptop and it is all on the right. I guess connecting a mouse and a headphone might be annoying if you are using it as a desktop replacement. I on the other hand don't mind it and would use the trackpad when on the go and stuff.

Because bf4 shouldn't push it much past 60% on ultra? Vsync is probably capping you at 65fps.

Well my HP has it on the left but my new Dell has it on the right. The switch bugged me a little at first, but not really anymore (at least the Dell and Clevo will be consistent).

Solid, slight backbleed on the bottom right and left but i mean slight. You'll never see it on anything but complete pitch black.

Its better than I expected and I can compare with my near god tier XB271HK. (Which also has a tiny spec of lightbleed bottom left)

Great to hear! May I ask which reseller did you go with? Since I think that it is the work of the reseller for installation which if done a bad job it can result in a light bleed.

That's how MSI implements it--connected directly via USB. On the one hand, it's nice because it actually has decent ASIO drivers (2ms latency or so) for those that need them. On the other hand, it's also kinda annoying sometimes how Windows glitches out and doesn't recognize plugs/unplugs.

    What headphones are you using?

    Ok so preliminary impressions!

    Really happy.

The screen is really good for being RGBW, colors look bright and nice, and the backlight bleed is pretty minimal.

The actual machine is awesome, looks way nicer in person than in photos, it surprises me how freakin thing this thing is.

I like the keyboard, the RGB coloring glows really well, even though I obviously wish it could be like a Razer Chroma keyboard with individual key lighting.

Lid flex isn't that bad, I don't see it being a problem. Its flexible but only if your like applying pressure on it which in reality you shouldn't be doing. The chassis is great, almost no flex at all on the keyboard, it feels really really nice.

Touchpad is solid, no issues with it and I'm a fan of discrete buttons.

DAC is amazing. I have some really nice headphones, and it only sounds marginally worse than my SABRE DAC powered OPPO HA-2. So I'm really pleased with that, great sounding laptop audio.

    Haven't tested the battery yet.

OCCT testing (cpu 100% load test): Around 69C with max fans, around 76-77C with automatic fans.

Gpu stress testing: First firestrike score was 1150, and I ran uningine valley where temps were holding around 74C with max fans, and 80C with automatic. Honestly, not too shabby (During that cpu was in the 50s)

Overall those are some pretty solid temps for a 1.1" 1070 laptop. I've yet to OC the cpu or try undervolting it, but that will come in due time.

I'd love to know when the Prema bios is releasing lol.

I'd be glad to answer any questions people have.

Probably my sole complaint is the thing is a fingerprint magnet but I knew that ahead of time.

Here's a photo of the laser engraving with fingerprints on purpose (a wet paper towel cleans it well). I'm really happy with it.

    IMG_5387.JPG

    @Xileforce @FredSRichardson @Kittys @Krissppy
    @Phoenix @Donald@HIDevolution @CGrant @Techhawk54 (Any one I'm forgetting?)

I'll have a more in depth review of the laptop and my experience with HID coming soon. (Spoiler alert Donald is the man)

Edit: Did I mention the gpu was holding 1911MHz clockspeed? That seems crazy high stock. No throttling.

Great short review man. Pretty much mirrors my thoughts. I have hyperx cloud headphones I use for playing games. The things far more solid than I expected. Also the screen flex is a non issue imo too. All I do is open it from the little flange on the top and close it and I've never noticed it. Keyboard is also nice. I also noticed the crazy high stock boost clocks. Factory oc? I'm running +150 core and +500 memory stable atm. It eeks out a bit more fps in super hard games like tw3. Other than that it usually is only at like 60% usage even when running games at upscaled dsr resolutions. Very impressed. I use the over clock fan profile btw. Auto is a little quieter but I prefer lower thermals.

Yeah I had a GT60, the noise from this is nothing in comparison even at max. Also lol my headphones are ie800s, so I hear a stark immediate difference between the P650 and my Latitude sound quality wise, major leagues vs little league.

I just run stuff at 4K. A 1070 is enough for all non intensive games like CSGO, Overwatch, Dota 2 etc... And then it just abuses anything at 1080p. I almost feel bad. Everything absolutely stupidly cranked is still like 100 fps in almost every game.

Very sweet ride! I think I like the way the laser etching looks better than your avatar - you should think about using the pic instead =)

@Galm17 just ran a casual fire strike bench with my current GPU overclock of +145 core +500mem and got 12,646 Firestrike. Graphics score was 16,616, physics was 9,485 and combined was 5,518. I may play around with more tomorrow.

I ordered a P650RS-G w/ i7 6700HQ and of course the 4K panel since I see that 1080p gaming is a bit overkill so having 4K would solve that issue.
My ETA is sometime next week or so since they ran out i guess and then are waiting for more shipments to arrive but it looks like I am one of the first ones to be worked on! But that is what I got so far from Donald@HID but who knows at this point.

@Xileforce was wondering if your p650rs-g from HID have the color lit keyboard or is it white one like some people said?
