Aha well it was half of a joke because they get loud and hot, its a compromise for the size and thinner system. But its been running joke w. My friends blade every skype call it sounds like a 747...but even 4yr old clevo is getting to that point with another (oh the woes of cooling solutions of yesteryear)

I wouldn't really count that oopsie as a test either wasnt very sciency

Wow, I'd definitely get sent out of the room with that problem - a high noise level won't go over well at TV time =P

The Clevo still seems like the best option. But I don't think I'll try to figure out how many G's it can take before failure if I can avoid it =D

Shock testing your own unit would be.... an interesting route to take.

Well, if I accidentally shock test the unit I think the very least I can do is report back to the community on my findings.

Or maybe I should wait for the MIL-SPEC version of the P650RS to come out =P

Have you guys undervolted your intel gpu? I'm wondering if it's worth it. Testing it at -70 but not sure anything's changing. I don't even know if it's possible.
I managed to go -205 on the CPU and no BSOD. Max temperature is 68° but the fans were nowhere near at maximum speed. I'll try to going lower and then test with prime95 and DOOM, to see if it's stable.

    Thermal paste is Kryonaut

Many people do due to the margin left by intel, just be careful of your data and it can be used to lower temps under heavy load.

But I'm lowering the "Processor Graphics Voltage Offset" and nothing changes. Temps remain the same and graphics voltage as well. I am using MSHybrid and GPU-Z/ XTU for monitoring.

I read it as intel CPU, it will lower your temps if you are running games from your IGP, it will have no impact during the dedicated GPU being used.

So there's no need to lower the "Processor Graphics Voltage Offset"? Ok, thanks. Guess it's time to see until where I can take that CPU.

After further testing, -205mV isn't as stable as I thought. I left it at -200mV and everything is perfect. Testing with prime95 puts the CPU at 70° max, but the fans aren't at max speed (I leave them at automatic on CCC) and in fact, are quieter than I expected. Even when I tested without the undervolt. Very impressed.

Power settings in Sager CC, and the windows power settings. It was originally on 'balanced', I then set it to high performance, but this changed nothing. I then change the high performance settings to make sure that no devices were being powered down during idle. Since then I've reinstalled the latest Nvidia drivers, and set the windows power options back to the defaults for 'high performance'. Seems to have solved the issue.

Still waiting on being able to plug in an external screen. Sager tells me there is no new BIOS or EC for this unit as it's so new :/

EDIT: Just did the BIOS and EC update. I was happy with the fans before, but they are still much quieter now :) Also, EXTERNAL DISPLAY LAG SOLVED! :D :D :D :D :D The laptop says Style Note or something, instead of Sager on bootup though. Oh well, can't win 'em all....

    Thank you gooface!

UPDATE: Issue not solved unless you run in Hybrid mode for the GPU. In discreet there is still serious system lag caused by an external monitor plugged in. Still trying to communicate this to Sager but having no luck at all.

I don't know if I'm missing something, but after i type flash.bat it loads to 100% 2x, then suddenly shuts off. I get a glimpse of the word "done" but when I go to BIOS it's still the same. 1.05.02 LS2. I have P650RP

Same. If you look closely you'll see it says that the romid isn't compatible or something. I think the bioses linked are for the 1070 models.

Well mate i just updated the ec profile. Played some black desert on automatic fans. Fan noise and speed is now at mediumish. Way better imo. Still gaming on a laptop ofc so the silence of a desktop is not possible but this is no jet enigine noise anymore. Temp wise both cpu and gpu stayed around 60 so thats all fine. I did notice however that it took a daaamn long time for the fans to become silent again. But overal better :p.

Is there any way to disable the pinch to zoom on the touch pad? When scrolling in chrome I constantly have to fix the zoom. My hp envy had a synaptics program you could choose what features you wanted the touch pad to use.

You have press the win button then go to settings ( above the power icon) .. then you go to Devices and finally mouse and touchpad .. if you scroll down you will see the option
"use a two finger pinch to zoom" .. disable it .. anyway I am having problems with the touchpad too .. it is very imprecise .. it confuses little movements with taps .. and It does't move right away even after disable the delay ...

Could you please try to move your finger with little movements (few millimiters) left and right and see if the touchpad responds right away ?
more over with the "allow tap on touchpad" option on, if I try to move the pointer very little it confuses the movement with a tap and the pointers come back to where I start the movement

Thank you Im a new convert to win 10 so I didnt know to look there so thank you again. As for the touchpad I still have it set to the stock settings as far as delay and speed and it seems very precise. It takes .5 mills to get the initial movement but very small and exactly the same as my finger is moving. So Id say Im not experiencing that problem on mine.

Just an fyi for those using the new ec. The over clock profile definitely keeps things a bit cooler during extended gaming sessions vs auto. And it's only a bit louder imo. 77c vs like 85c in auto after leaving fallout 4 on for like 3 or so hours.

    Edit:
Also I should note that it's very hot in my room right now so thats not helping.

I tried both BIOSes and the XMG EC, and neither fixed the issue of CPU usage or ACPI.sys when connecting an external display. Didn't fix issues with the Vive VR headset either. RMAing my lappy tomorrow. Too bad, I was really hoping I could keep it! I will most likely be ordering a Sager again from LPC Digital once this is all sorted out.

Well, I just skimmed through 228 pages and most of the problems that some of you have come across won't really affect/bother me. I am soon going to be purchasing my first Sager/Clevo and was wondering, what is a good re-seller that has good international warranty and can ship to New Zealand? I was going to go for XoticPC but I will wait out if anyone has any better suggestions.

    My configuration on XoticPC

    Sager NP8152-S (Clevo P650RP6)

    - 15.6” FHD 16:9 IPS LED-Backlit Display with Matte Finish w/ G-SYNC Technology (1920x1080)
    - NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060
    - 6th Generation Intel® Skylake™ i7-6700HQ
    - 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 2400MHz Dual Channel Memory
    - 256GB SanDisk X400 M.2 SSD
    - 1TB 7200RPM [SATA II - 3GB/s] - Default - Bay 1
    - Intel® Dual Band AC 8260 802.11 A/AC/B/G/N 2.4/5.0GHz + Bluetooth™ 4.0 [M.2 Chip]
    - IC Diamond Thermal Compound - CPU + GPU
    - Windows® 10 Home 64-Bit Edition Preinstalled with Windows® 10 64-Bit Edition USB Recovery Media
    - Microsoft OFFICE 2016 Home & Student Edition
    - SLAPPA - Ballistix PTAC Matrix Laptop Sleeve

This comes at a total of $1,661.61 (Without Shipping Costs). I might purchase Microsoft Office and the Laptop Sleeve separately as it might be cheaper here. Is there anything else I can do to try and make this cheaper? Keeping in mind I am inexperienced in computer bios, repasting, installing drivers etc. If anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

Edit: Thinking of maybe getting it wrapped, or maybe get a laser sketch on it, so it would add roughly $100-200 depending on which I choose. The bare grey/black is a little too simple for me.

I'm kinda suprised that XoticPC still list the hard drive's when configuring the Sagers as SATA II rather than SATA III, unless they are really using SATA II drives.

imo i think your config is pretty much solid. I may be wrong but i believe that the 650's screen with G-Sync is only 60Hz. But if that doesnt bother you then go for it. How much is the MS Office if you configure it with the laptop instead as a separate product

edit: Perhaps throw in color calibration?

60Hz screen won't really bother me, and as for the MS Office, the $1,661.61 price has the MS Office included with the laptop, not separate, same goes for sleeve.

Edit: How much would color calibration help? (What EXACTLY would it do to the screen?)

1070 won't effect battery unless you don't plan on using mshybrid on battery(you should if you want any semblance of battery life) because it will use the igpu which uses equal power regardless of the discrete card.

Also note that gaming performance even on the discrete card is severely limited when on battery so don't even bother :(

I have a question about the P650RS and travel.

Can I feasibly play a game (say for under 2 hours) using the battery with the thing on the tray table of an airplane or is this just not going to work? (Standard seats of course).

You can play a very low graphics demanding game with the intel gpu in msyhybrid. If you use dedicated gpu you will be capped at 30fps and get maybe 40 minutes of high power gaming.

Well, I'm used to low-end gaming on airplanes using an Ultrabook.

Still, it would be kind of fun to play Witcher 3 for 40 minutes =P

I went without extra ram and drives and got them on amazon and newegg as 65 dollars got me 24gb ram vs 16 they offered and was able to grab two 2tb seagates (around 98 each) alongside the m2 (like 140 for 512gb?)

They dont use 7mm drives even though its offered on market so it kinda ruins chances of using dual bays unless you have the P670RS (or 650 RS?) but us RP6 users are stranded with 9.5mm x1 or 7mm x2

They actually lower cost in configuration if you order driveless (it says no hdd with ssd selection -40 or w.e but itll work fine if you nuke both to lower total

I think my laptop already came with the newest EC profile cause this is exactly how my fans behave. They stay on medium speed, which is very acceptable, and then they take some time to become silent. But 60 degrees, that's good. Did you undervolt or not at all?

This is pretty much what I did, I chose no drive for the secondary, and am going to put the savings into a 1TB SSD down the line.

For the time being though, I did choose a 512GB pcie SSD as the boot drive. :)

Could you maybe post some links as to what you purchased? I'm not sure which RAM would be compatible and if the drives I choose would work with the laptop. I might probably just purchase from XoticPC and have them install it as I am not experienced in taking apart laptops and installing RAM and drives, and I'd rather not take that risk of me getting it wrong, but if the cost difference is pretty big, I might take the risk (With some help from you guys of course)

Edit: Also, would it be necessary to re-paste because AFAIK and according to past posts, re-pasting seemed to improve the temps a bit, but I don't think 80°C temps would really bother me much (Hopefully)

I'm about to order from LPC Digital and I decided to just have them install everything I need. The price difference vs Amazon is about $10-15. So maybe you'll save $30 if you get your own RAM and SSD. I guess to me this seemed not worth the hassle.

On the other hand, if you are like @Kittys and are planning to install a lot of additional things (2 more RAM sticks, 3 more drives, etc.) then it may add up and be worth it. So kind of depends on what you want.

I just plan on having 16GB of RAM, one 256GB SSD for OS and a 1TB for games, school stuff etc.
