Hello to every one .. in due time I will try to gather in this post all relevant info for the models in question.
Here the first two review available online: (they are in German, but if you translate page is preatty much understandable)
CLEVO P651RP-6
CLEVO P670RS-G

And where is the love for the P670RS-G? Just ordered mine yesterday.
-
What's the cooling scheme on P650RS? On my P650SE, there is only one fan cooling CPU and the temp would get quite high after extensive use. What's the temp on your CPU and GPU(I suppose you have the gtx 1070)?

Snagged an older P650 to use while I wait for some of the reviews to come out for these new models. Trying to decide if I want a 1060 or 1070. I actually still want to use optimus and only the P650RP6 give me that option.

Unless something happens I am going to be buying one in about a month. If anyone has any impressions to share please do so I can live vicariously until that time.

I too am just waiting ~1 month before purchasing a Clevo P650RP6 with a GTX 1060. Might get impatient and get one before then but I'm mainly waiting to see a few reviews just to be sure.
This would be my third Clevo laptop purchase. I first had a M570RU (from Eurocom) that served me well for 5 years then died. I then switched to a P170HM (from Reflexnotebooks) which has lasted me ~5.5 years and is now finally dying.
I'm sick of carrying around 17 inch laptops and I use my external monitor so much that I'm finally switching to a 15 inch. I'm leaning towards the 1060 since the price difference is like $300 CAD and I believe I'll still be able to run big games in 5 years at low - medium settings which is fine.
Here's to another 5 wonderful years of Clevo! Only thing left for me to decide is 2 year vs. 3 year warranty.deadsmiley, xor01 and TomJGX like this. -
If you're sticking with the 1080p display the 1060 is all you need. If you're getting the 4K, then you'll want the 1070 to drive the extra pixels. I do competitive gaming on a occasion and since the 1070 can't drive 4K at 60fps, it's obvious to me that the 1060 @ 1080 is the better choice.

8153's 1080p screen option is 60Hz with a 25ms response time. Confirmed via Sager.

Does the response time kill the screen as an option?

I'm thinking the 4k screen with the 1070 on the 8153. As long as the response time isn't also terrible and the colors are there. Turn down a bit of settings and the 1070 should handle 4k gaming just fine right? If you don't care about 60fps is all. Hahaha

I'm also looking to purchase the 1070 model but I have a few questions.. if anyone would chime in, it would be much appreciated.
1) 4k screen or 1080p? Will 4k kill battery life? (I will also be using the laptop for college)
2) 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM? Is there a real-world advantage to 32GB? -

I'm not planning on Occulus, but who knows what will happen in a few years. I guess I will see what the price difference between 1060 and 1070 is. I don't want to pay for unnecessary power, but if it means I can keep the laptop for longer without upgrading it may be worth it... Will read reviews when they come out and decide. Thanks for the input!

My current laptop is a P650SG with a 4720hq and GTX980m. I game at 1080 and my FPS drops are due to the CPU bottleneck, NOT the GPU. My desktop has a 4770k @ 4.5ghz with a GTX970. I can play the same game (Mechwarrior Online) on the desktop at 2560x1440 (vs 1080 with the laptop) and more effects turned on and get higher FPS due the to desktops significantly better single thread performance. 2560x1440 is almost 2x as many pixels as 1080. My 4770k is roughly 50% more powerful than the 4720 and the 970 is roughly 20% better than the 980m. Despite driving 2x the pixels and more detail, the desktop gives me 50-100% more FPS. With a 1060 or 1070, any low FPS issues are more likely to be CPU related than GPU related. This makes me want to pony up for the 6820hk which can overclock and make up for some of the difference between laptop and desktop CPUs.

I didn't think that the processor could have so much effect on gaming
and the 4720hq should even be better than the 6700hq -
It depends upon the game really. Mechwarrior online has some poor optimization and puts a lot of particle/physics effects onto the CPU. Since the GPU physically can't do the work, FPS drops. Other games with low levels of physics calculations will run better. This was why PhysX was a big deal at one point, but it had a low level of adoption. Personally I think if you're gaming at 1080 you'll get more bang for your buck going with a $125 6820hk rather than a $300 1070.
I didn't realize my 4720 was better than the 6700hq. Maybe I can delay upgrade longer. I'm on the fence about wanting to jump on these new 1060 Sagers. I guess since my GPU isn't the problem, the real question is, how much more CPU power will the new Kaby Lake Sagers have vs the current ones. I wish the 6820hk was an option for the 1060 Sagers but it isn't. I need to wait a few months regardless. But the resale on my P650SG will fall in the meantime.deadsmiley likes this. -

I stayed above 60fps (with eye candy) at 1440p with the titan-x in mwo with a 3.6ghz cpu.
-
but performance wise the 6700hq and 6820hk are quite identical
if you google it you'll see that your 4720hq is better than the 6820hk too
so if your cpu can't handle certain games i don't think the 6820hk will -
Do you play with a team? Happy to meet another MWO fan.

I'm wondering if in reality the 6700hq isn't a little bit faster than the 4720. Skylake is more optimized per mhz. Here is a screen shot showing my laptop vs a 980m with a 6700. The 6700 is roughly 9% faster in the physics dept. Not much but it is something. Not worth selling a laptop for though. I had to weed through a bunch of highers scores too, with 3dMark you have to assume all the high scores are optimized benchmarks and not realworld comparisons, but this one looks relatively normal.

Still if the consensus is that the 4720 is = or better then I'll gladly take it LoL. -

It was the gs30 with 4870hq tuned to 3.6ghz (under voted with peaks of 67w power).

I do, not so much recently but if you have a good group I'm open to joining a new one, I use a water cooled r9 nano in the dock at the moment. I shall get my new machine with dual mobile 1080s next week

Wow, dual 1080s, that's nuts. I play Mechwarrior with Rising Storm (SRS). We pretty much only do competitive play, we're currently probably the 4th or 5th rated team in North America. We're currently competing with a mixed team called Storm Jaguar. http://srsgg.enjin.com/ If you're super serious about your game play, we'd love to have you stop by. If you're more casual play for fun type, I'd highly recommend checking out Marine Mechs, Isengrim, or 228. All those teams have large casual contingents, but still have a lot of highly skilled players who compete, so you get the best of both worlds. My team is very small, 18 people, and we take the game way too seriously, but you have to be serious if you want to compete with the top teams. There are a lot of great teams, so you can't go wrong as long as you're in a team that makes playing the game fun. If it isn't fun, join a different team. I'm currently on break due to work, but I'm looking forward to getting back in mid-October. If you want help finding a team, I'd be happy help you out. I have friends in most (but not all) of the major teams. They all have something to offer.

so because of you so many doubts are arising ..
I would like to have an answer for all of you ..
do you think that in the next 3-4 years I could have problems with fps and not be able to play games due to the i76700hq not being powerful enough?
because I'm sure that, given benchmarks for gtx1070 the GPU wont be a problem at all at least for 3-4 yearLast edited: Aug 20, 2016 -

I'll know better for the P650RS when I eventually get mine but cooling on it is good to start with. -

It helps a little over IC diamond but does have considerations for how hard it is to work with for maintenance later too.

Hi Meaker@Sager, any knowledge of battery life on the P650RS with the 1080p vs 4k display? Also, do you know how the graphics switching works--is it on-the-fly or do you have to set in BIOS every time?
Also, I saw an XMG rep indicating it can handle the 1070 from a thermal standpoint (in another thread). Can it handle a 6820HK?HardCore88 and mtx0011 like this. -

4k always seeps battery life. Dont expect much over like 4 hours.

Battery life in optimus will be very similar to the previous model.

Thanks Galm. I was talking about the " GeForce GTX 1070 Graphics & Intel GPU User Switchable" advertised by Sager, which I guess is the "UMA mode" from Clevo website: "Battery life: 325 minutes (with UMA mode, 60WH Battery)".
