Should be an icon in the the notification area icons, bottom right. I re-scanned my prints last night from there, forgot which icon it was though.

Anyone else with a GTX 980M show only 4GB of vram? I don't have access to a screenshot right now, but I remember when I was doing some bench's last night I saw that. I was using HWinfo64 and XTU...

    I have the sager 8658-s/ Clevo P650RG

Also, just received a samsung evo 850 1TB ssd, I think I'm going to take out the 1 TB HGST Travelstar™ 7K1000 7200 RPM SATA 6Gb/s Hard Drive and replace it with the SSD, because of noise and weight...

Can I literally remove the HDD and plug in the SDD, easy peasy, no strings attached?

For the video card - open Nvidia Control Panel and check the memory amount under there. Sometimes it's just a reporting error.

The hard drive replacement should be simple assuming you don't have the OS installed on it and it's on your m2 drive. Otherwise, you'll have to clone it first.

Sweet! thanks! yep, my OS is on the m2 250GB ssd. Thanks for the clarification, all those ssd install directions online involved cloning etc, couldn't find the simple answer of a simple swap.

yep, i'm sure it was just a reporting error as I do remember seeing the full 8GB prob in the device manager etc.

Sorry for missing that post man! Thanks for reaching out to me, glad we got it squared away.

It looks like it was basically shipped 3 days after the order, so right in that rush build sweet spot.

Standard production time on a sager is 7-12 days so saves you about a week in the end of things really.

Let us know once you open it up and get a chance to play with it!

I got my p650re3 the other day, it's fantastic. First laptop I've bought in about eight years now; was banging away on an ancient Dell XPS laptop that finally died. Figured it was time for an upgrade. Got it on a Newegg flash sale from Eluktronics.

    Here's the exact build: http://flash.newegg.com/product/9SIA8S13MN8252

Haven't looked too closely at the issues with it, but I do have some minor screen bleed in the top right of my screen. I'll take a picture of it when I get home from work and post it on here. Now I just need to redownload all of my Steam games on to this beast.

I guess I can chime in for those looking to get the non ips panel.

So far it is great! No noticeable screen bleed at all and good brightness/color. The viewing angles are finicky, but it really isn't a problem very often.

As for the rest of the laptop, GOD DAMN! Never having owned a computer with a quad core cpu, dedicated gpu or ssd, this thing is ****ing amazing. It is a bit larger than I expected (I am going to use this at college) but thin enough and powerful enough that it's not too big of a deal. I really like the brushed look of the finish!

I got 63 fps in unigene heaven which is awesome, and so far have been able to play metro redux and some other games on max settings! I think my temps are like everyone else's with the gpu hovering around 60 C under load (but I will overclock soon probably).

One thing that I am a bit confused about is that my CPU was rated within Intel XTU's benchmark as being "mediocre" compared to the other 6700hq's tested. Afaik there isn't a way to overclock it, so how can some people attain much higher scores than others?

Overall, even though I went with a budget version of this laptop (8gb ram, tn panel, 3gb 970m, 120gb ssd) I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to get amazing power for $1200.

I got my P650RG from Mythlogic the other day. Coming from AW 17 R2,R3,R4 and a couple of Asus ROG, the Sager/clevo is a solid performer. This P650RG is replacing an I5 gaming desktop I had with 780TI. For the massive performance in such a light laptop this is truly a great one. Only design change I would make is a quick remove bottom cover for quicker future cleanings. In 73F degrees ambient temperature room the 980 idles at 90F and the cpu 85F-88F.

Ordered it a Saturday, processed on Monday, Rush Service + Overnight shipping had it at my place by Thursday morning. Still in the process of transferring, installing and setting things up, but so far it's a fantastic machine that is well made. It shipped directly from Industry, CA which I gather is where Sager sets this up. The interesting part is that it was set to DISCREET in the bios by default.

There is a little bleed in the upper right hand corner, and some along the middle along the top. Other than that the display is great. I did see some strobing on two occasions last night while installing programs, locking the computer stopped that. I'll have to keep my eye open for that to make sure there isn't an issue. Other than that I found the mouse freezing on occasions (trackpad or mouse) but that may have been related to Google Drive, bnet and Steam all downloading at the same time.

I only had a chance to check out The Witness, Diablo 3 and WOW for a couple of minutes last night. Everything was incredibly vibrant and crisp, and all ran at Ultra levels with Gsync on. Diablo was getting 140+ FPS but WOW looked like it was locked to 60FPS, neither of them really dipped. I tried to get Shadows of Mordor running this morning but it wouldn't give me correct resolution settings, I'll have to look into that. I set it to Ultra and did a benchmark, it maxed at 60FPS and averaged around 48FPS.

So far very happy with this and the experience with XOTIC was good.

Now I just need to figure out how to get that copy of the new Tomb Raider I was promised.

I've gotten El Capitan 10.11.2 with Clover EFI bootloader running on my P650RE in DEDICATED mode. NVIDIA Web Driver installed, all USB ports work, sound works (except built-in mic), LAN works, touchpad works (incl. some gestures). Wireless card needs replacing but will work after replacing with a compatible M.2. Card reader doesn't work (and won't ever because no drivers). Couldn't figure out DSDT patching for brightness.

What are the differences between the P650-RE3 and the P650-RG? Looking at Xotic and so far the main difference seems to be that I can't get the RG with anything other than a GTX 980M with 8GB. For the added expense, I'd probably be fine with the G970M with 3GB.

Are there any other differences though in terms of the chassis or anything else?

Beyond that, if I plan on gaming while hooked up to a desktop monitor, is there much advantage over the 14" P640RE? Looks like I can't get that with a 7200 RPM storage drive, but I might go with that or the MSI GS40 since the 14" form factor seems nice for portability.

You are correct on the differences, just the GPU that's in them.

If you're hooking up to an external monitor anyways you may like the smaller 14" form factor if you are also going to be taking it off the desk and carrying it with you. Really just going to be more portable, however you lose ram slots on the P640RE (only 2 instead of 4 like the P650's)

Are there any P650/651-RG with 3K/4K screens available for purchase anywhere in Europe? Do those even exist?

OK, I'll try. The cart won't display any relevant fees - most important is import tax at customs, and that may gladly be around 20-30%. I might be wrong, though, but all that is to extents of my knowledge.

Another option could be to buy a cheap TN fhd option here in Europe, buy the screen you want and proceed to the upgrade yourself.

Well, my build with 16GB is $1,949.00 on Xotic, but that doesn't really matters. For some reason, prices on Xotic are around 20% lower compared to any european Clevo resellers that I know. Just compared - the same exact build with a regular FHD screen costs $1,684 at Xotic (without shipping), and at HYPERBOOK it costs $2,011. But buying an XoticPC with shipping and importing to Poland would still be more expensive than that :/

Ya I love it. Been a while since I got back to PC gaming.

Installed Witcher 3 and FFXIV:RR, and wow...! beautiful.

I play FFXIV on max settings 1920x1080, and my temps are around 53'C locked at 60fps and about 63-65'C with unlocked FPS usually hovering but gets up to 130ish, gorgeous graphics!

I keep my fan on full blast.... just because I'm unsure how high the temps can be safely, what temp is a cause for concern? Is 70'C constant OK? if that's the cause I probably wont blast the fans always

I also realize, when I turn nVidia Shadowplay on, it raises the temp by around 10'C, I forgot I had it on at one point and was wondering why the FPS was dipping (not GPU necessarily, probably because of CPU constantly recording)

Edit: Idle temps are around 35'C GPU and 35-40'C CPU

I think that so far, the three (at least) people who ran into thermal issues and had to RMA their laptops (including myself) had the p650re3 aka the 970m (please correct me if I'm wrong).

I don't think anyone with the 980m model has run into it yet. Can anyone with a 980m confirm this? how are your temps?

Just ordered the: P651RG-G(980M, 16GB, 256GB, FHD), unfortunately the one shop in Sweden that sells it deosn't have it in stock. Wan't to expensive really at 2100 € (thereabouts)
Hopefully I don't have to wait to long as I'm getting really tired of my 860m that barley handles some of games I throw on it.

70'C for CPU or GPU is fine.
CPU you should try to have below 80'C even though it may be hard on certain games or benchmarks it's a good mark for knowing when things are getting hot.
GPU below 85'C is fine but the lower the better and having it at 90'C - 95C hour after hour may warm up other things in the machine and damage them which ain't to good

I would agree, your temps look good for the most part. Obviously the lower the better, but I'd say you are in a solid range for temps.

I recently purchased mine with the 1080p screen, 980M, 16GB ram, and 1TB HDD. I then put in my old SSD and love the laptop. Great temps, gpu 70-80, cpu 55-80. And I bought it off of Amazon with bitcoin and got it 30% off via https://purse.io/?_a=crypto

If I don't care about the RAM slots, is there really any other difference? With the 14" I guess I lose a numberpad on the keyboard, and I'd be stuck with a 5400 RPM storage drive vs. 7200. No idea why that have that limitation... Is there a very noticeable difference between those two speeds?

My other major concern is shorter battery life on the P640RE as I've heard it is shorter than the P650RE3. Shouldn't the P640RE have longer battery life compared to the P650RE3 due to its smaller screen? Or did they give it a smaller battery too?

Not sure about the battery, but i think what he's trying to tell you about the memory slots is you're limited to a maximum of 32GB between two sticks. With four slots you can go up to 64GB.

With a 5400 rpm and 7200 rpm, the 7200 rpm will be a little faster. It isn't near a jump like going up to a solid state drive. I thought this was a good visualization of the differences between 5400rpm, 7200rpm, and a SSD just for example.

The P640 has a 45Wh battery, the larger P650 has a 60Wh battery. Argument being that with a larger battery there wouldn't be the thermal capacity to install a 970M. The difference in the power consumption between a 14" and 1.6" panel is only 1-2W, the main difference in the battery run time is the battery capacity itself - though perhaps against most thinking the P640 actually uses a little more power on idle and load than the P650 for the same specification.

If you have a look through the notebookcheck reviews of the XMG P506 and XMG P406 you can see the battery run time differences and also the power consumption differences in the "Energy Management" part of the reviews.

A larger battery would also add weight and cost to the unit and it's targeting quite a specific balance. It's a fair bit cheaper than other high performance 14 inch models.

2 Weeks have passed since I got my XMG p506, and I am very pleased!

Got the 1080p LG display - gorgeous, barely visible bleed in top corners. 32GB or ram, 2x16 that XMG installed below the keyboard, something I rather like because it makes it easier to later upgrade to 64GB using the 2 bottom slots. The 980m is amazing for gaming and cuda work, and I now have 2.5TB of ssd including a 512gb samsung M.2 nvme 4x PCIe, where my OSes live happily. Build quality is very good, this is a sturdy laptop, that should survive my frequent 2 hour commuting.

XMG's support continues to be excellent - used their online chat to ask questions about system recovery and UEFI (apparently it is recommended to have it enabled with Skylake processors), and got useful informative answers and technical advice (can't say the same for HP, Sony, Acer or Dell).

Cons: only 1 and not specific to this laptop - Skylake support in linux is not good at the moment, and I needed some trickery to get the laptop to boot (e.g. using nomodeset kernel option to install the OS and on the first boot and from then onwards using the i915.preliminary_hw_support option). Kernels 4.3 and 4.4 should improve this but I found some resistance in getting those to work with kubuntu or ubuntu, and couldn't spare the time to fix them or try Arch (kernel 4.3), so at the moment I am reduced to using the discrete (nvidia) card, which sucks my battery out in roughly 2 hours (I get around 4 in Windows with some power saving and under low usage). This should soon improve though, my experience is that you know that you have bleeding edge hardware when it does not fully work out of the box on Linux, I would "almost" be disappointed if that was not the case.

Thanks for sharing that Pat. Can you clarify why there is no option for a 7200rpm drive on the 14"? That would make my decision pretty easy at this point.

It's not so much skylake as your nvme ssd needing uefi for nvme.

Great feedback, thanks for taking the time to write this and don't forget that there is a reseller feedback forum section if you feel the need to shout about your happy experience more ;-)

The Skylake models encounter issues with several of the driver and software packages installed with Windows that aren't optional component specific, hence the advice by our support over Live Chat.

I am seriously considering P650rg. But should I wait for type C port? It'll be everywhere later this year and I don't want to be stuck with current USB port.
