Not personally as I use my phone as a mobile hotspot when I need access (it's included in my plan).

Unless you plan to do graphics design or photo/video production that requires such high resolutions, go for the 1080p screen. Gaming will be much smoother at that resolution, even if you went with the QHD screen you would end up downscaling most games to 1080p. Oh and the Windows UI scaling for high resolutions sucks so much right now.

SAGER NP8658-S with the 1080p IPS, 512gb 950 Pro, 1TB 850 EVO, GTX 980m, and 16GB RAM just ordered from Xotic with rush delivery. Slightly concerned about screen bleed, however.

Back light bleed is a given and you will have some. It's just a matter of how much.

I am curious on two things: 1) Xotic's Facebook page says a 980m purchase gets you a free copy of the new Tomb Raider. I didn't see that anywhere during the process. 2) While customizing it always showed a "cash discount" but that vanished during the checkout process. A bit annoyed that discount was not described on how to claim during checkout.

Screen bleed: Considering what I am paying for this, it better be slight.

As for the light bleed, you may get lucky but so that you don't get disappointed, don't get your hopes too high. Mine was pretty bad on one corner but knew the risk going in. Expect it on the corners and edges. If it's bad enough for you to return it within the 30 day window, its gonna cost you $50-$100. Pick your poison. But again, you may get lucky.

I've had the same problem and I'm still not sure exactly if it's the laptop or some other cause. I have done some research though and noticed that it only happens when my laptop is plugged into AC power, and I found this link https://mrgnome.wordpress.com/2009/06/12/external-monitor-flicker-laptop-ground-loop-problem-solved/. I haven't followed those directions yet so I don't know for sure.

    1) when you get your computer, just contact anybody in sales or email me (with your order number), and I should be able to get you a code to download it. Not sure why that isn't showing up...

    2) Cash discount for us (and I think also with some other resellers) is only for check, money order, or wire transfer. cards or paypal don't apply.

PM or email me though if you have more questions, and I'll be glad to help out!

I have that exact build. No light bleed. But it looked blurry as ****. However I found the fix, use advanced scaling and instead of 125% make it 124% or 126% and becomes the most beautiful screen ever.

I'm excited! my sager np8657-s (p650re3) is due to be delivered in the next 2-3 hours. Got the IPS screen, Samsung 850 500g m.2. my hands are restless! Ive had an xps 15, alienware x17, and several asus g series, and I must say ive really enjoyed them all, but this will be my first clevo. I guess I'm making my way through all the brands. Really liked the g series, last one was g750jm, and have had no issues with any of the laptops ive had (guess ive been lucky), but I wanted something smaller and lighter than my 17" @10lb beast, which is why I picked this model. Honestly, my last two laptops had gtx860m, and it was enough to run the games I like perfectly...but I did step up to the 970 this time....hopefully I wont regret not getting the 980, but I would think 970 should be a great improvement over the 860 ive been using (or the 750ti on my desktop)

Going from the 860m to a 970m is a huge jump, it should last you a fair while :)

ha, I hope so. I seem to have a electronics problem, where I have to buy the best new laptop, phone, etc I can find once a year....but I'm getting tired of taking the hits on selling them the next year at such a loss each time I upgrade. Think i'd like to try keeping one for 3 to 4 years this time....hoping this sager will get me there.
I would imagine that four years is a good time....by then we will probably have 3dxpoint for hard drives, all will be touch screens, and we will be able to fit gaming gpu/cpus in lightweight, thin laptops which get ipad like battery life. Oh, and can run occulus!

    YAYYY

    Just received (p650RG)

Here's some quick pics, can't really have fun with it yet as I'm on a job.

Question: I thought the heatsink in the back was supposed to be copper for the p650RG/sager 8658-s?? mines looks black.... I really wanted that copper accent

booted up instantly, no problems, fingerprint scanner works flawlessy, no screen flicker while sleep etc, haven't had time but did the W.E.I. and got max 7.9 on all except CPU 7.7 (with the 6820hk?? I know the WEI is not anything to bench with, just want all maxed.)

Just put a black background on your laptop and you'll see if you have it or not. Take a picture if you can too.

On the heatsink: yeah it's always black in the rear. Nice pics!

put a solid black background on, I don't see any bleed whatsoever....! pics aren't great, its also reflecting my desktop screen and office lights. will re-take tonight.

The image with the black background is on full 100% brightness on performance mode::

and regarding the heatsink, this is the 8658 on LPC's site.......:

That's awesome! Your screen doesn't show anything obvious. I think you're set.

As for your laptop heatsink - what specific model did you order? Can you put the direct link to the laptop you ordered (i.e. where you bought it)?

Yea I'm pretty stoked so far, don't wanna jinx myself!!!

As for the heatsink, any other p650RG (not re3/6) owners have that color? Its minor.... But I just like that shineeeee

My only buyers remorse is the new dell xps 15 touchscreen with ALMOST similar specs, but bout a thousand more USD. Lighter, thinner, etc.... But less storage/ram/GPU ETC so I have noooo regrets

ok, two questions, if anyone can help. 1) how can I strengthen the fingerprint scanner? I wanted to scan my finger a few more times, as it doesn't read every time, but am having trouble finding exactly where to do this. And 2) is it possible to set my computer to wake from sleep using the mouse or kb? on all my other laptops they wake up when I move the mouse. id rather not have to over use the power button. thanks! this is for the p650re3.

    However two questions:

How much can I under volt the 6700hq?

Is it safe to give the 970m the max stock overclock?

    Thanks!

I managed to undervolt my CPU by 125mV, which reduced its temperatures by 6 degrees in the Intel XTU Stress test.
    As for the GPU:
I did a few benchmarks and tests at varying clocks, and ended up setting my laptop to a 135MHz Core OC and 250MHz Memory OC. The temperature increase was about 3-6 degrees hotter on FurMark than at base, which is more than acceptable for me since it tops out at 77 degrees.

I could've pushed up to a 750MHz memory OC, but that was making it run at 7 degrees hotter (still OK to be fair) but at 800MHz I was getting graphical glitches, 820MHz caused a crash.

    Here are my benchmark graphs:
The labels ending in -C indicate core overclocks, the ones ending in -M are for memory overclocks.
Edit: Fixed axes to start at zero

    I can't believe I missed that...
I think it happened because Excel automatically adjusted the axes for the 3DMark scores graph because of the large numbers, and I used that as a template for the others, so it didn't reset the scaling to zero. No wonder there appears to be a large discrepancy between them, despite a 14% improvement at maximum.
    I've fixed them now :)

How exactly does the RUSH process work? I paid the $49.00 when I ordered it on Saturday Jan 30, 2016. On the website it says 1-4 business days after the order has been processed. I'm still sitting in Phase 2 as of this morning and was wondering if this is going to ship out tonight since I paid for next day shipping.

understandable. I will say that even without rush delivery, mine only took 7 business days from the day I placed the order to arrive. I ordered on a sunday, and it came in Tuesday the next week. They did send me a tracking number when it shipped, which was after phase 2. I was only in phase 2 for 2 days I think. Also, I didn't have any custom stuff for saeger to do, just an upgraded screen and ssd. So....no one has any info on where to find the rescan for my finger print? I couldn't find it in the manual. Or to change the wake from sleep options to mouse or kb?
