Since the laptops say user upgradeable and you have to mail the machine back to sager/xotic pc to do so and some machines aren't compatible with the new cards, would mailing in the machine for exchange for the 9570 count as an upgrade and the user would just pay the difference?

So what about my upgrades that were promised to me through the website which was the main reason that attracted me to buy it?
Or do they futurely modify the components at a later time?

It is user upgradable as listed. Which means you can get the new video card and upgrade it yourself. Just like you adding more RAM or a better SSD, its something the user can do. The reason its listed like that is because very few notebooks support letting the user upgrade the video card.

If you are still within your 30day return period you can return it and order the new one and just pay the difference.

So I'm S.O.L. forever (model will never get any new card or processor upgrades)? Will they go back to the 9380 model in the future? No I'm not, I ordered in Nov last year.

As I reread response more carefully, do you mean that these upgrades can be bought and actually fit in the machine elsewhere? If so, can you direct me to those sites?

Yes if you can find these for sale individually you can put one in your computer, hence "User Upgradable". The problem is actually finding them for sale. Since most notebooks dont support upgrading the GPU, the notebooks GPU market is small. Most people have good luck on Ebay and sometimes Sager will be able to sell us/you one. You would then sell the ones in your computer on ebay to help make up the cost. If you're interested you can open up a service ticket on our site under the "Contact" section and our service dept will get a quote on availability/price from Sager for you.

Oh okay, I was under the impression that they may have been made differently based on some ppl's comments all over the place and just couldn't fit and was just making sure. Before I posted, I had asked Sager and they just responded by saying: "We don’t have the 880m or i7-4940mx so don’t know it can use on your np9380." So I guess I just have to wait a bit longer and see in a few more days or month.

Also, the link on ebay from upgrademonkey mentions alienware and clevo so I was a bit confused and just wanted to be certain since I've only been into laptops for 3 years.

Last question: How much did the 780M cost (by itself) when it first came out? (just want to get an idea of how much it would probably cost). The ones on ungrade monkey (880m) are over $1,000. I don't know if that is usually the thing or not.

It is true not all future cards will work. Honestly we dont know for sure yet either if they will work for sure on the NP9380, since this is the NP9570 thread I just was thinking online of that model. However it may work, we'll just have to wait and see once Sager gets them to be 100% for sure.

You do have to get a Clevo GPU, the Alienware wont work, they have different vBIOS.

The top end mobile GPU's usually do run $800-1000.

But dont get too worried about it all, as you may have seen on other posts the 880M are just rebrands, and most the benchmarks we're seeing and performed here there is minimal increase in performance.

imo resellers should try to sell newer GPUs/CPUs on their website lol, although I don't know if they would make much profit off of those.

I agree, there is a good market for them. I think the problem is people ordering them for computers that they wont work on. Often times we can get them per request.

Systems usually don't get a cpu upgrade and the haswell refresh chips are just 100hz bumps and not worth investing in.

We can order them from Sager yes, as long as the computer is a Sager branded one and not from a different Clevo reseller.

We already know that it works in the 9570 since it's posted under it on xotic pc. I was adding on to a previous post in this same thread about 9570 and 9380 and the 880M which is why it is still in this thread.

now as for DDR4 So-Dimm im not so sure but here it is..

    ddr4.jpg

not sure how soon we'll see a 8gb stick ddr4 sodimm thats at least 2133mhz

880M should work in the 9380 if you flash to the newest BIOS by Prema (v1.03.03 I believe). No point wasting money on the 880M if you have 780M, the marginal improvement in performance is not at all worth the price tag, unless you overclock it beyond its limits. (check out johnksss's thread in the Alienware main forum for his review and personal take)

Gscreen to me doesn't look as appetizing as the vertical stacked screens:

If only they had gaming laptop specs...

lol nope. but for the storage portion it is faster though, and my VMWare but in the end its all futile cause of DMI 2.0..

:O tbh at this point I'd go for any dual screen. W701DS was great at the time but its too old now. I personally would want something like W701DS or Gscreen spacebook but with newer specs, another screen on top seems too weird lol. screen side by side, kinda like desktop but more mobile.

Clevo got the performance part nailed down with hexa/octa core. it also got gaming down too with dual GPU and 4 fans in total. storage wise its not as good as alienware but its enough. they are just missing build quality, sound quality and multi screen.

I think for most part people can live with build quality, I treat my computer with care so it'll even look new 3 years from now, and sound can be replaced by wireless headphone. dual screen can't be replaced cause it has to be battery powered.

would you guys get a dual screen lappy if clevo do offer one? i'd throw down 5-6g hands down with hexa core.

hey meaker, if we need to get parts for repair, where would we purchase parts? from you guys or directly from clevo or both work? cause ebay barely has anything and it's extremely expensive..

    RJTech or eBay

Also, this is just me, but I'd still pick a 24" 144 Hz LCD over a dual screen laptop any day :p

Then again this is a guy who, after having experienced the joy of 100 Hz refresh rate, just could not go back to 60 Hz, and so bought a wireless keyboard and an external monitor in order to have the full gaming experience. So yeah I'm biased.

Yes there's a 120Hz option, but 1080p at 17.3" kinda hurts my eyes after a while, so I prefer to go bigger.

Which parts are you looking for exactly? Try shooting an email to RJTech, they're actually pretty well stocked for most parts, just for some reason they never seem to update their website.

Clevo makes them all but sager as a big customer gets to specify things, eg all sager machines have ports for the 120hz screen and 3D emitter soldered on.

I bought my Sager with a 780m card thinking that I would add the second card in SLI in a few months but now it isn't even an option. I never thought it would be discontinued so quickly. I am really happy with the system all around.

There's plenty of 780Ms floating around on eBay, and RJTech sells the card for $695 (about as cheap as you'll find with a reputable seller).

    Clevo 780M from RJTech

And I just noticed the $695 price includes the heatsink. That's about as cheap as it gets for a new 780M.

Hey I don't have a P570WM either but I'm still lurking and posting here lol

compare to Alienware its a bit thicker but smaller in width and length and lots of people have those, and I do believe the new AW18 is even bigger than m18x. I have got two 20 inch laptop and those are HUGE, especially the dell xps m2010 lol. I am trying to covert a 24 inch all-in-one with battery into a laptop.. with some 3D printing chassis etc but seriously those specs are a joke, can't even compare. if only one decent one come out I can stick to that.

i honestly will get the next clevo machine though, if it comes with x99 and haswell E + prema's bios mod LOL. I just don't see how it will come with DDR4 sodimm so it might not come at all until broadwell E where DDR4 is more widely used and made.

I was on the fence between the P370SM and P570WM. In the end went for the P370SM since I wanted at least a modicum of mobility. Figured if I ever needed to game or do computation heavy stuff on the go, the P370SM would be less of a hassle to lug around. If whatever I did required more computation/graphics power than the P370SM could output, then it's a sign I should probably do said task while seated lol.

so when octa core comes around, are you gonna upgrade? i for one will purchase unless it is signafcantly limited, or has serious issue. if its 2 screens, well I will buy it hands down and work around the "serious issue" LOL

@Meaker, how is the build quality of 570wm? is it too heavy to move it around, in a bag and could easily damage it etc? also are you running at 4.3ghz 24/7? or just default turbo boost
