Mine does the same but it did it once in the file. There's a period that's obviously a transition that drops to 17 but it's 30, 30, 17, 55 so I believe that was a transition which would probably make such a drop.

I thought this method didn't work on laptops or was the guide I read outdated?

I honestly have no idea. You'd likely need to change your refresh to 60Hz to do the ubersampling though, from what that guide says. But since we have eDP panels, we should be able to transfer enough data.

    2560x1440 downsampled to 1920x1080:

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    125271, 1118891, 0, 539, 111.960

I'd definitely say that ingame ubersampling is broken.

Also I can't tell the difference between AA being on and being off at that resolution.

Ubersampling broken indeed. Plus, is it just me or I do not notice any difference between ubersampling on or off?

I modded my Skyrim to Project ENB. So Beautiful while on 60fps although for some odd reason, there are parts of towns in Skyrim that has low FPS like one portion in Solitude (after the entrance). It is ENB modded so I understand.

I will test Arkham City and AC Unity with max fans on the weekend.

This is 3200x1800... these are some amazingly powerful cards.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
    68648, 1027782, 0, 123, 66.792

    Totally playable.

Temp with max fans was 81C

Also, I turned off AA... it looks better without AA at such a high resolution.

See? Told ya Ubersampling was broken. I remember it was supposed to be "20x" or something, but I was told that was wrong. I think it's just a broken setting by some devs that honestly couldn't optimize the game down. I mean it's a very very pretty game with nice bloom effects and such, but I never felt it was as pretty as its demand on GPUs were.

But yes, 980Ms are quite strong.

    EM heatsink set:
    SM and SM-A heatsink set:

You kill some Slave GPU cooling (not needed with 980Ms, ESPECIALLY if pasted well and using max fans; which I would be doing with CLU) and gain 10+ degrees CPU cooling power. Seeing as how I don't ever cross 92 degrees in my 32-degree environment with CLU and my honestly terrible 4800MQ which is apparently incapable of undervolting for any reason beyond stock (compare to my first chip, which could do 3.9GHz at -80mV), this setup would barely have me hit 80 degrees under any normal circumstances, and if I were to get a 4900MQ or 4930MX, I'd likely never thermal throttle even with higher speeds there too.

If you need more cpu power it's not a bad option. It just depends how far you intend to push the 980m as it can get power hungry when you start clocking it properly.

Keep in mind that heatsink dumps the heat from the CPU to the video card. Whatever you lose in CPU temp you'll gain in GPU temp. The 980M runs cool unless it has a heavy load. I really wouldn't recommend that mod.

Also you'll still power throttle on the CPU. It is designed to do so unless you push the allowed amperage and wattage which will bring temps up fast. With CLU I was able to get 4.3GHz but it wasn't stable so I dropped it to 4.1GHz but feed it anything over 70W and it hits the 90s. That was with CLU. I haven't tried on the new heatsink though which runs 4.1GHz on stock paste. It averages 4.05GHz with all the things I do with my machine. I'm never messing with CLU again though, removing it is extremely difficult and quite frankly dangerous as if it beads up on a cotton swab it can fall off. Happened to me with my video card. Luckily it fell on the SLI cable. I decided never again after that close call.

Ethrem, can you please recommend a CPU setting like you did in that one post I PMed you about? Did you come up with a decent CPU OC before you went with Liquid Ultra?

I'm asking because if you could help me start to learn how to OC then maybe I can get the hang of it myself. But without someones help to at least get me started I won't be able to learn (as I have to start somewhere).

Id really appropriate it, Even if you could suggest a starting setting to get me started that would be better then stock that would help me at least begin to learn how it works.

For example, the goal I would like to hit is to have my CPU run at 4GHz all the time with decent temps. (all 4 cores) if thats possible.

Its trial and error really. Do you have an MX?

    Try this XTU profile.

    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2uxkA8nKyn6c0hhTjdpVGp3dFU/view?usp=sharing

Should work just fine. If not tweak the wattage and amperage. Keep in mind that I run two power supplies and I'm not sure the wattage that the 980M uses so you may pop your power supply. If you do, wait a few minutes and try again when the power supply comes back up.

    Its definitely trial and error.

It took a **** ton to pop my single supply though... I had maxed the voltage on my 880Ms and overclocked them. That did it. So I doubt that file will.

Ok I tried it, its at a solid 3.99 so far no issue. you don't think any undervolt is necessary for temps do you?

Also, do I need to reboot after setting this? And will XTU always have this setting until I change it?

Thanks Ethrem for the help man, your the best!

Run the built in stress test and see if it throttles. Mine will if I stress it too much but it works great for the most part. And no problem, I don't mind helping.

Yeah it crashed. Try my settings again and increase the voltage offset by 15 and run 3dmark11 and the stress test too. Your chip may not be as good as mine. You may have to settle for 3.9GHz and stock voltage. XTU could also be being a pain. Also are you running Prema's BIOS? I had more problems with the stock BIOS than I do with Prema's. Prema's has a newer management engine which could be part of it.

Don't go back to stock BIOS, you can brick your machine and you now have a mismatched ME. Could be your problem. I only go back to stock when I need to send it in for repair.

And not undervolt. Overvolt. Try 15mv first and work up from there until you're at a stable point but watch your heat by using the stress test. It doesn't take much for these chips to hit 95C and throttle.

Ahh ok opps, I set a -70 offset and it works, will try the other way.

PS. I removed Premas Bios because I lost the ability to control my screens brightness. He had to help me for awhile to get everything set back correctly.. It was a very scary situation, thank god hes a great and helpful guy!!

EDIT: Whats does ME stand for? If you mean EC, I have the correct latest version.

ME is the Intel management engine. It controls the CPU clocking among other things. If Prema helped you then everything should be fine. Prema is kind of a genius lol

-70 works but stock crashes? I think it will go unstable for sure at some point.

Stock doest crash if you mean default settings. By stock do you mean no volt change?

Is the Intel management engine software? Or something in the Bios? If its in the Bios can it be updated? I ask because Prema helped me get everything back to normal, but my keyboard back light stopped working after all of that.

EDIT: NM I see its software as my reseller has it on there site, Im gonna try re-installing it.

I can't answer your question directly but I am using 2.34.49 from here http://www2.sagernotebook.com/pages/notebooks/download.cfm?ProductType=9377

Speaking of BIOS, where are sager BIOS updates posted? I cannot find them and mine could be a reason I'm having boot issues occasionally. I am on BIOS version 1.03.07LS1 and EC version 1.03.06 (both are what it came with). Looks like there is a newer version of the EC out there from above post!

Well I got mine from Eurocom because I have the X8, It will add the Eurocom boot screen. I'm not sure sager/clevo Bios can be mixed though because I'm pretty sure I read that it can't but here is where I got mine from: http://downloads.eurocom.com/support/drivers/models/X8/

I know Prema has stock Bios and EC on his website so you can try checking there: https://biosmods.wordpress.com/

Thanks for posting the hotkey :)

I know that should not be happening but in a way it makes sense I think? I know my Windows uses 4.1 gigs of memory so a heavy memory game might require more then 3.9 gigs? But then again thats what the swap file is for so yeah...

How big is your swap file cr8rec?

Guys I have a P377SM-A with a SSD, which has windows 8.1 installed on it, and a 1Tb HDD. Do you guys think it is wise to disable the page file for the SSD (OS disk)?
And for the HDD should I leave it on?

Some applications don't like not having a page file so you could shrink it to a gig to avoid issues.

I've not had a problem disabling page file (5 years now). Do you know which applications don't like a disabled page file? (They might be very specific proffessional applications perhaps, I just use my PC for gaming/internet/routine office).

Quick question. Can we upgrade warranty after you have purchased laptop. I have sager 2 year. But was wishing I had 3. Can I upgrade just before it expires for another year like alienware . Or does it not work the same.

I can't give concrete examples I'm afraid but I have heard of it happening. One issue to putting the page file on another drive is keeping it spun up more often using more power.

Ok guys I have question and I'm seeking your help with the answer. Today i was looking at my laptop specs using XTU and I noticed the it read I have 2x GTX 980m but it read them as 4 GB not the 8 GB which I ordered with my laptop. I used DXDIAG and also showed me that I had the 4 GB instead of the 8GB. I wanted to be sure before I contact the Reseller so I downloaded GPU-Z and I run it and it showed me that I have the 8GB cards not the 4GB ones. So my question which one is the correct one and how can I be sure of which cards I have on my laptop? I uploaded 4 pics of the results and I want your help. Thank you all for your time.

Don't worry, I went through this same thing.. Clevo only offers the 8GB GTX 980.. you have 8 GB's on each card. GPU-Z is correct.
