get a 4910MQ honestly.. 4810MQ is bottlenecking a bit.. If your'e on a budget, get a 4810MQ.. Do not get the 4710MQ.. It will be useless...

The 4810MQ is about the best fit for this chassis unless you need the cache for something specific to be honest. 4Ghz is about the max you will get.

So guys I'm still stuck in my issue. I installed a fresh Windows 7 ultimate and have Prema bios on my np9377. I have the hotkey app installed and the graphic driver is 344.75 for the SLI 980m. I got stuck with the fn key stopped working and I can't change the brightness on my screen. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you guys in advance.
Edit : even if someone would be kind and attach a picture of the default settings for the np9377 bios. Again thank you all.Last edited: Jan 5, 2015 -
so these are the build specs I"ll most likely order:
Clevo P377SM-A
17.3" 16:9 1920X1080 Full HD LED backlight Ultra Bright, 90% NTSC Color Gamut, Glossy (heard it's worth the extra $100)
SLI Dual nVidia GeForce GTX 980M 8GB GDDR5 DX11
i7-4810MQ
16GB DDR3 1600/PC3 Kingston HyperX CL9
1TB 7200rpm SATA III 32MB 6GB/s
To save a bit of money, I'll plan to buy 2x 512GB Crucial M550 at Amazon (currently $512 for 2) and install it raid0 primary OS myself with the unused windows8.1 pro i still have. Is this a wise decision?
Also, I don't really plan to buy the 3yr warranty and just stick with the 1yr it comes with unless buying it would be better. Thoughts? -

Update: I just installed the Hotkey from the link that you gave me Prema and still nothing. I set even the settings in BIOS for the ACPI to Auto and still nothing. Not sure why the FN and the brightness stop working but everything else is good. FYI the BIOS shows VGA adapter as unknown under the part where it shows the BIOS version.

About my other questions:
1. To save a bit of money, I'll plan to buy 2x 512GB Crucial M550 at Amazon (currently $512 for 2) and install it raid0 primary OS myself with the unused windows8.1 pro I still have. Is the install and BIOS setup pretty straightforward?
2. Also, I don't really plan to buy the 3yr warranty and just stick with the 1yr it comes with unless buying it would be better. Thoughts? -
If you're buying a machine like that, I don't see why you'd only get 1 year warranty.
Also, M550 on amazon might be nicely priced, but remember to make sure the difference between mSATA and SATA III. mSATA is more expensive; the SATA III 2.5" version would be cheaper and two of those cut out the mechanical drive the machine comes with. Or you can grab mSATA models and keep the HDD slots open -

You could get one msata m550 and one sata m550 since they should perform about the same.

When does the 4810 reach 3.8 anyway? Is it automatic?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
The 4810 can get to 4Ghz when tweaked which is about the maximum sustainable clock the system will reach so for tweakers, no need to get a higher one.

Lets say I play open world games like Crysis or AC Unity, do the cores automatically go to 3.6 constant?

There must be a way to do 3 external screens with the 980m over thunderbolt and HDMI.. This should be thunderbolt 2 as well, since its a 980m.this doesn't seem to completely solved. Daisy chain Thunderbolt/mini DP...'Mini display port hub' by EVGA, maybe? I don't know.
-
Worst comes to worst, you can get the "Matrox T2G-DP3D-IF TripleHead2Go DisplayPort multi-display adapter 3 DVI mini-DisplayPort" but its like $240.00 but you can probably find it cheaper (or something similar)Last edited: Jan 7, 2015 -
Can any of you guru guys give me some advice on the best settings for the i7 4940MX in XTU?
First some info, idle temps are in the lower right corner of the screenshot of my desktop below, the first two numbers are the 980's and the next 4 numbers are the 4940MX core temps. Laptop has been on for about 1 1/2 hours at time screenshot was taken.
I use the " Targus HD3 Gaming Chill Mat for up to 18 Inch Laptops" and it works great, I chose this cooler because this machine is very thick and I wanted to maintain the lowest profile possible, this cooler fits this laptop PERFECTLY, and its only 1.14 in thick which was important to me.
The above info is just for reference, not sure its helpful or not in XTU advice.
What I would like to do is simply set up a best performance/cooling setup.
I tried to experiment with settings found in the screenshot in the last quote found here:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/alienware-18-m18x/757464-alienware-18-ordered-4940mx-gtx880m-sli-i-have-few-questions-7.html#post9883861 by Ethrem
I set the -80Mv, then I set the 47W TDP for both turbo values, I rebooted to see if the values held and the -80Mv was still there but the two turbo values changed to different values. Is that supposed to happen?
Also, say I wanted to try 4.1GHz or even 4.2 (is that even wise if I don't use that liquid cooling stuff? I use IC Diamond and have an extra tube of it)
Anyway any advice would be appreciated.
BTW I'm trying this because everyone seems to say that the only point in having a i7-4940MX is to fiddle with it so... I'm fiddlingLast edited: Jan 7, 2015 -
Well first, you're gonna wanna relax your power draw limits. Next, that old picture Ethrem has is out of date. His entire system was broken as hell; they replaced his GPUs and his heatsink for his CPU and a whole set of other stuff and now it works fantastically for him.
As far as the extreme CPUs go, I know they need more power/voltage/etc to run optimally than the MQ line, so I can't fully explain.
Your best bet would be to find Mr. Fox over at the Alienware 18 forums and ask him about it, or find Ethrem these days and ask him what he's up to with it. -

Please help me.
How do I connect this laptop to a gsync supported monitor. I know it has to connect over DP but this machine doesn't have one. Do I need a Thunderbolt to DP adapter? Can you link me to the product I need to buy? -

Ok guys I have a question regarding the battery. Does the battery stop charging in the np9377 when it reach 100% full? The reason I'm asking because when I play games I don't want to damage the battery and short it's life by keeping charging it.

Well I finally flashed Premas Bios mod, I gotta say it scarred the crap out of me
After I did the two steps, then unplugged the power for 30 seconds, I booted and it started then the computer shut off, BUT on a second attempt all went ok
Then I could not get on the Internet, I discovered that for some odd reason it removed all my settings from tiny firewall (I use it with windows fire wall) but once I figured that out all was well
Thanks Prema!
Now this is what I thought the BIOS screen should have looked like for a $5000+ system
PS.. I like your bootup screen, much better then the ugly Eurocom one
Now if I can just get up the nerve to flash svl7's NVIDIA 'Maxwell' VBIOS mods... -
Anyone using the Prema mod bios and Corais Vengeance 2133 ram? My ram is designated CMSX16GX3M2B2133C11 8GBx2 and I'm usibg up2 of these for 32GB total. I managed to boot up in manual settings and it looks correct for CL11 at 2133 but I'm not sure if these are the correct settings?
Can someone post their settings from the bios as not all of those are shown in XTU or cpuz:

For sli I would stick with maximum performance to keep frame times as smooth as possible.

Hello,
This is an extension of an earlier question. Monitor I had kept crashing system so returned it. Hopefully a straightforward pair of questions:
1: Can the thunderbolt port in this laptop drive a 1440p, 144hz screen?
2. Is the 980m SLI config in this laptop gsync compatible.
Thanks. -

Guys, I have a question.
Do game run flawlessly on SLi 880m's at 120Hz?
Or are there still needs for some driver updates to fully function at 120Hz?
