Well that's nice to know! I'm glad to know that some, if not most of the drivers are somewhat up-to-date. Also, thank you for the help! I'll definitely come back here if I have any questions about this laptop when I recieve it! Thanks!

How is the i7-3610M and GTX 670M combination? is it all positive feedback with this laptop? There are so many things I would like to know but I've run out of time and actually have to order a computer now, the information here is great though if I can ever read it all.
-
I love the combo. I haven't really had time to put the computer through any real serious gaming atm because I have been studying for my MCAT since I got the computer. After tomorrow though I plan on picking up Battlefield and Skyrim to see how the computer handles modern gaming. Online benchmarks look pretty promising though and for the price it is an excellent computer. For day to day activities the computer is blazingly fast. I boot up in less than 20seconds and I don't have a SSD.

Achusaysblessyou eecs geek ftw :D
It games very well for the price and is quite cool.
60+ fps on Diablo 3 high/close to max+1080p. Although wizzys and witch docs will make your gpu cry.
~60 fps on Battlefield 3 at lowest settings at 1080p, some of the back to karkland maps are just polygonal monsters and that's when you dip to like 55, 50 at worst. -
Hy everyone, I'm seriously considering getting this laptop and I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade the network card from the stock one, and if so which of the options is the best? Thanks.
-
thanks for the feedback, that sounds like I probably wouldn't run anything that will stress the requirements for a couple years anyway. I guess I will get some quotes and do some ordering this coming week.

37 pages so please forgive me if I missed the answer to this question...
Is there a way to turn off what I believe is the Optimus switching feature? I know that you can change the default video card programs use in the Right Click > Run with Graphics Processor menu. What I am talking about is when the system is unplugged and running on battery, the GTX670 turns off. This makes gaming impossible on battery, which really defeats the purpose of a laptop. I've looked for an answer and couldn't find it so I'm hoping someone here can help. -
Nope. As far as I know, you can't disable Optimus.
-
-
What if we remove the drivers of the Intel HD graphics card? Wouldn't that force Optimus off? I did that on my current laptop and it disabled switchable graphics (though I am running a Radeon currently).
-
Doesn't Fn+F1 disable the touchpad?
As far as I know, it doesn't make your fans run at 100%.
When I press the button combination, it just shows a sign saying touchpad enable/disable.
Can anyone verify this? -
its fn+1 not fn+f1

Everything went smooth and its amazing how fast Win7/Driver installation has been going. Can't wait to get some games installed to put it to the test -
NP9130 users 1 question pls.
Does the np9130 have the W+E+Space ghosting horror issue that the np9150 have?
Thanks -
No.
The keyboards on the 9130 and 9150 are completely different.
the 9130 has a chiclet style keyboard, while the 9150 has a backlit keyboard. -
Hey guys how do you feel about the speakers on this thing? as ive never seen a first person video on this thing(except on xoticpc which is kinda so so , could have been better if they threw in some gameplay).
To the owners of the 9130, at the end of the day do you think you got what you paid for?no buyers remorse?(of course you would like to think you got your moneys worth but i would love it if you guys could be honest, not that you guys arent)
I am about to get this or the ge60 that is why i am trying to weigh the pros and cons(i know no laptop is perfect but i want to get the best for my money) -
-
I have done a lot of research before I decided to buy this computer and I must say that I really it like. I love the plain and clean looks. I like that the components are accessible for maintenance. I definitely prefer two fans over MSI ge60 especially when a Clevo is cheaper. I wouldn't mind the gtx 660M over my 670M, but it's certain something that I can over look.
The only thing that I don't like is the texture of the touch pad and its buttons, which is gritty like a sandpaper. The gritty texture makes it a bit difficult to clean, because the fibers from the cloth will get caught onto the surface by the sand paper like texture. The surface of chassis seem to be a bit smoother than the touch pad and does not have the same problem. I personally wouldn't mind the illuminated keyboard, but I can't justified to spend extra money on it and I'm not so sure if I will like the rubber like texture that comes with the NP9150. Another thing is that the weight including the power supply is a bit too much for me to carry this thing around on a daily basis, but I had anticipated on it prior to making my purchase. -
Question appears to have been buried over the weekend...
Do any experts or reps know if you can force the GTX670 on while the system is unplugged? This Optimus switching is driving me nuts. It doesn't matter if you select the Nvidia graphics card as your default in the graphics card menu... if you unplug the system games come to a grinding halt when it turns off the GTX680 and swaps over the the Intel HD 3000 graphics. It is pretty frustrating to own a gaming laptop that requires you to be plugged in 100% of the time in order to game. -
Now to the laptop. I really like the chiclet keyboard. The number pad they squeezed in took a couple of minutes getting used to but its second nature now. I went with the 95% gamut glare type screen and it is simply amazing. I have very controlled lighting in my apartment so glare is not an issue. However, the glare can be annoying if you can't control the lighting such as when I use the laptop in the library. The computer is pretty damn fast especially for the excellent price point. I still haven't purchased any newer games to test the laptop on but I am probably going to pick up Skyrim today and will let you know how it runs. The laptop plus PSU is slightly heavy but I came from a Gateway FX laptop that was over 10pounds all together so this thing is super light compared to that. If you are on a budget and want an excellent laptop then I can highly recommend it with a clear conscience.
PS: It appears the updated BIOS has added support for the 7970 and the 680. If you shell out the extra cash in the future for the 180W PSU then you can upgrade the graphics card as well. -
-
-
To be honest the speakers do leave much to be desired. However, I have a logitech 2.1 setup that I use so that really did not bother me.
-
how do you feel about the speakers? I use external speakers but i also want to show this baby off to other people. -
-

I typed in the model # on google for the PSU offered by Prostar and was able to find it for around $45. I didn't purchase it though because I am content with the 670 for the time being.
-
btw does anybody know the difference between the two
8GB - DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS) - SPECIAL! (SKU - S4P369) ( - 50 )
8GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS) (SKU - S4R371)
1333mhz vs 16000mhz. sorry really noob at this stuff @_@ -
-
Is the surrounding bezel/frame on the screen a glossy finish even when the screen itself is matte?
-
Yes the surrounding bezel is glossy

For the person asking re speakers, they're decent for gaming as you don't really need bass, but on average is give them a 6/10, acceptable, but nothing to write home about, but at least they can get loud too.
