Well that's nice to know! I'm glad to know that some, if not most of the drivers are somewhat up-to-date. Also, thank you for the help! I'll definitely come back here if I have any questions about this laptop when I recieve it! Thanks!

How is the i7-3610M and GTX 670M combination? is it all positive feedback with this laptop? There are so many things I would like to know but I've run out of time and actually have to order a computer now, the information here is great though if I can ever read it all.

I love the combo. I haven't really had time to put the computer through any real serious gaming atm because I have been studying for my MCAT since I got the computer. After tomorrow though I plan on picking up Battlefield and Skyrim to see how the computer handles modern gaming. Online benchmarks look pretty promising though and for the price it is an excellent computer. For day to day activities the computer is blazingly fast. I boot up in less than 20seconds and I don't have a SSD.

It games very well for the price and is quite cool.

60+ fps on Diablo 3 high/close to max+1080p. Although wizzys and witch docs will make your gpu cry.
~60 fps on Battlefield 3 at lowest settings at 1080p, some of the back to karkland maps are just polygonal monsters and that's when you dip to like 55, 50 at worst.

Hy everyone, I'm seriously considering getting this laptop and I was wondering if it is worth it to upgrade the network card from the stock one, and if so which of the options is the best? Thanks.

thanks for the feedback, that sounds like I probably wouldn't run anything that will stress the requirements for a couple years anyway. I guess I will get some quotes and do some ordering this coming week.

I'd at least upgrade to the first intel one, only because 1) it's not important enough to upgrade to the bigfoot or the 6300, but you should at least go with a reputable brand when it comes to wifi cards and i'm not sure i trust the stock

I think it does, I've never heard my fan that loud so, not exactly sure, but i'd be surprised if it could spin any faster. Also, are you copy-pasting your Sig?

Mine revs up to what i would think is 100%, but as there's no monitoring software, i can't tell you that it's 100% but it's louder than i've ever heard it (even in game)

A bit late maybe, but something I think I have to share. Even though Clevo/Sager lists the PSU as a 120W one, googling its part number (pa-1131-07) says it's actually 135W (19V x 7.1A). That explains it I think, I always thought 120W was a bit too short for a 3610QM and a 670m.

37 pages so please forgive me if I missed the answer to this question...

Is there a way to turn off what I believe is the Optimus switching feature? I know that you can change the default video card programs use in the Right Click > Run with Graphics Processor menu. What I am talking about is when the system is unplugged and running on battery, the GTX670 turns off. This makes gaming impossible on battery, which really defeats the purpose of a laptop. I've looked for an answer and couldn't find it so I'm hoping someone here can help.

What if we remove the drivers of the Intel HD graphics card? Wouldn't that force Optimus off? I did that on my current laptop and it disabled switchable graphics (though I am running a Radeon currently).

    Doesn't Fn+F1 disable the touchpad?

As far as I know, it doesn't make your fans run at 100%.

When I press the button combination, it just shows a sign saying touchpad enable/disable.

    Can anyone verify this?

Before, the fans were running silent, after, the fans are equally as soft.

    Am I doing anything wrong?

Just got my Sager NP9130 (through XoticPC) and I figured I'd post my experience here. Specs are:
    15.6" Matter Screen
    Intel i7-3720QM
    GTX 670M
    16GB DDR3-1600
MyDigitalSSD 256GB mSATA SSD (bought and installed separately)
    750GB 7200RPM HDD
    DVDRW/CDRW

    Ordered: 07/03/2012
    Phase 1: 07/03/2012
    Phase 2: 07/09/2012
    Phase 4 (Shipped): 07/12/2012
    Arrived: 07/16/2012

Everything went smooth and its amazing how fast Win7/Driver installation has been going. Can't wait to get some games installed to put it to the test :)

    NP9130 users 1 question pls.

Does the np9130 have the W+E+Space ghosting horror issue that the np9150 have?

    Thanks

    No.

The keyboards on the 9130 and 9150 are completely different.

the 9130 has a chiclet style keyboard, while the 9150 has a backlit keyboard.

What is a ghosting horror issue? sorry for the noob question

Hey guys how do you feel about the speakers on this thing? as ive never seen a first person video on this thing(except on xoticpc which is kinda so so , could have been better if they threw in some gameplay).

To the owners of the 9130, at the end of the day do you think you got what you paid for?no buyers remorse?(of course you would like to think you got your moneys worth but i would love it if you guys could be honest, not that you guys arent) :D

I am about to get this or the ge60 that is why i am trying to weigh the pros and cons(i know no laptop is perfect but i want to get the best for my money)

I returned my np9130. just spend the 200 more for the np9150 if you are going to get this platform. The ge60 is a solid choice but if it is a 720p screen on the MSI I would go for the np9150.

I have done a lot of research before I decided to buy this computer and I must say that I really it like. I love the plain and clean looks. I like that the components are accessible for maintenance. I definitely prefer two fans over MSI ge60 especially when a Clevo is cheaper. I wouldn't mind the gtx 660M over my 670M, but it's certain something that I can over look.

The only thing that I don't like is the texture of the touch pad and its buttons, which is gritty like a sandpaper. The gritty texture makes it a bit difficult to clean, because the fibers from the cloth will get caught onto the surface by the sand paper like texture. The surface of chassis seem to be a bit smoother than the touch pad and does not have the same problem. I personally wouldn't mind the illuminated keyboard, but I can't justified to spend extra money on it and I'm not so sure if I will like the rubber like texture that comes with the NP9150. Another thing is that the weight including the power supply is a bit too much for me to carry this thing around on a daily basis, but I had anticipated on it prior to making my purchase.

Question appears to have been buried over the weekend...

Do any experts or reps know if you can force the GTX670 on while the system is unplugged? This Optimus switching is driving me nuts. It doesn't matter if you select the Nvidia graphics card as your default in the graphics card menu... if you unplug the system games come to a grinding halt when it turns off the GTX680 and swaps over the the Intel HD 3000 graphics. It is pretty frustrating to own a gaming laptop that requires you to be plugged in 100% of the time in order to game.

I in no way regret my decision to purchase the P151EM (I got mine from Prostar so its a Clevo built in house). First of I would like to say that I absolutely loved dealing with Prostar. I got my laptop in 8 days which was two days earlier than I was told. Also, I downgraded to 1333mhz ram to save $50 and they ended up giving me 1600mhz ram on accident. That deserves a Roll Tide.

Now to the laptop. I really like the chiclet keyboard. The number pad they squeezed in took a couple of minutes getting used to but its second nature now. I went with the 95% gamut glare type screen and it is simply amazing. I have very controlled lighting in my apartment so glare is not an issue. However, the glare can be annoying if you can't control the lighting such as when I use the laptop in the library. The computer is pretty damn fast especially for the excellent price point. I still haven't purchased any newer games to test the laptop on but I am probably going to pick up Skyrim today and will let you know how it runs. The laptop plus PSU is slightly heavy but I came from a Gateway FX laptop that was over 10pounds all together so this thing is super light compared to that. If you are on a budget and want an excellent laptop then I can highly recommend it with a clear conscience.

PS: It appears the updated BIOS has added support for the 7970 and the 680. If you shell out the extra cash in the future for the 180W PSU then you can upgrade the graphics card as well.

I believe that in order to use the 670 the laptop must be plugged in. The 670 draws a lot more power than the integrated graphics and while the battery alone could likely run it, the battery life would be terrible and the card would likely have to be downclocked.

I to have done alot, and i mean ALOT of research on the 9130 and ge60 but the 9130's user base isnt that big as compared to the 9150 that is why its kinda hard deciding.I know that the 9150 is better but as you said just for the illuminated keyboard will cost you 200 but the ability to upgrade the gpu is one of the reasons why this cost much but for me its better to get a newer unit 2-3 years down the line. + i really dont mind the touch pad since i plan to be using the laptop with a mouse because most of the time it will be left at home so a semi-desktop.

how do you feel about the speakers? I use external speakers but i also want to show this baby off to other people.

i think u cant use the 670 while unplugged which is one of its cons because of this i considered the g55 w/out optimus but its really heavy and cost 1400$ w/c out of my range= out of the question.

With regards to upgrading the GPU, the new BIOS for the P151EM adds support for the 7970 and 680. As long as you upgrade the PSU to the 180W one you should be able to put in those cards without any issues. Earlier in this thread one of the resellers (I believe it was Mythologic) confirmed that you can upgrade the GPU with these computers. So basically you are paying $200 more for a backlit keyboard and a larger PSU.

I also read it, i thought it was just rumors so i paid little attention. anyway good to know that we can upgrade. how much does a 180w psu cost? I also do not plan on getting the 680 since its just overkill for me, but a 675 i would definitely consider if its price is reasonable enough and in my range thats if it supports the 9130.

I typed in the model # on google for the PSU offered by Prostar and was able to find it for around $45. I didn't purchase it though because I am content with the 670 for the time being.

1600MHz ram is just a bit faster ram than 1333MHz. Its not something that you would really notice though.

Is the surrounding bezel/frame on the screen a glossy finish even when the screen itself is matte?

As previously stated the 1333mhz ram will be slightly slower but it is not even noticeable. I downgraded and saved an extra $50 but Prostar accidently gave me the 1600mhz ram anyways :)

You can sand down the bezel, spray paint it, or cover it in a flat black 3m film to get rid of the glossiness.

The only reason I would get 1600mhz ram is for future compatibility... ie. 1066mhz ram is irrevelant nowadays, but the 1333 MHz ram I got for my Arrandale vaio z (even though it only could handle 1066 MHz ram) Sad I missed the free upgrade to 16gb 1600mhz ram by 2 week :(... Well ordered too early...

For the person asking re speakers, they're decent for gaming as you don't really need bass, but on average is give them a 6/10, acceptable, but nothing to write home about, but at least they can get loud too.
