So lucky ? I ordered mine on May 1 .... you are just late to the party lol. I plan on playing crysis 3, borderlands 2, warface, planetside 2 and whatever unreal 4 brings in 1.5 to 2 years. Will probably upgrade to a new gpu by then to handle it hehe .

I'm talking about people who are actually getting their orders processed (and received, i guess) . I've made two changes to my order weeks ago that Xotic has failed to implement as well as even take money from my card. Regardless, this laptop seems to definitely be worth the wait.

I ordered my 9150 on 5/23 and it will be delivered Tuesday 6/19, cannot wait. This is the first time I've ordered a laptop like this and not the typical Dell or HP or Sony (though my Z is still running like a champ) so I'm a bit nervous about the purchase. But this forum has been so helpful and informative and I think I'll love the Sager once i get it. I've had great service from Powernotebooks so far so I'm hopeful!

When order changes are requested the actual specs on the order never change as we cant alter that once submitted but all order change requests are added to the notes of the order. You can log into your account and check any notes on your order to verify if they have been added or not. -

I don't know if I was hallucinating or not, but I believe CryEngine 4 was announced or something...

This shows pretty much everything you could possibly need to do, hardware-wise. -

For the record... I have never bought from a custom-build (really custom, not Dell-sortof-custom) PC source before, and still have no phase 2, and am dying for my machine (this is for work, and my centrino2 pos is, well, a pos) but Xotic is A++++ in my book.
(the "N" on the Cornhusker helmut stands for "Nowlege" - but not at Xotic.) -
so i ordered mine on 5/24 shipped 6/13 and will arrive 6/19... pretty much everything stock.

Wow! people ordering a month before me!
Please, please, please excuse my childish behavior, a lot of people are definitely waiting a long time for their laptops, my posts seem very silly now, sorry about that.
I won't PM Hustady@Xotic because i don't think that my problem is worth the trouble, i might give a call to Xotic tomorrow if my order doesn't seem to go through as well.
Sorry for the trolling! -
No worries; it's not trolling unless you are purposefully trying to cause conflict haha. You are just anxious to get your laptop and not accustomed to the wait times that often come along with the territory of ordering custom things, especially brand new electronic parts like the 7970m. The 7970m is the main reason that these are lagging; you are new to the forums so I doubt that you've heard about this so I'll give you a quick review.
The 7970m just came out last month-2 months tops; the first shipments came in fine for all resellers but were all pre - ordered of course [newest high end GPU's are always sold out FAST]. So the second shipment came in which was also almost all pre orders ; and the second shipment was quality control [QC] tested at Clevo [the manufacturer of these Sager/Clevo P150EM laptops] and had a high fail rate of about 25%, so they had to send the cards all back to AMD and AMD had to make new cards, and is now sending the new ones without the problems the second batch had out to all of the resellers and they are just arriving this week. So many of us who ordered last month are just getting them next week; some lucky ones got them this week. Some people had computers with the 7970m a month and a half ago such as Slickdude in his m17x alienware; but they bought the 7970m directly and installed it themselves which is quite a gamble; he is the one who sparked my original interest in the 7970m.
The 7970m is ridiculous; when OC'd 10% it is within 10-15% of the power / FPS in games that a GTX 580 desktop card gets. It's ridiculously awesome to have in a portable machine, its not tiny, but 7 lbs overall really isn't a big deal for most people. I plan on just buying a large laptop backpack for itGreat for school and work and if I have breaks I can play some games or photoshop

Thanks!
Ill just hunker down and wait. -
Thanks for the advice!
I'm getting pretty close to purchasing from xotic.
Last question: I'm not sure which display I want. It seems like people are saying the matte is better, and I agree that it'd be nice to not have annoying reflections. What about the "Ultra Bright LED Anti-Glare Screen w/ 95% NTSC Color Gamut"? Is that at all worth considering?
I won't be using it for anything where I need colors to be precise like photography or art, but will there be a significant difference in the quality or vividness of the colors? I will be gaming/watching movies/etc. fairly extensively, so would paying an extra $65 be worth it? I guess my question is really about how much would my gaming experience be enhanced by the better screen; it wouldn't be worth it if all it did was get me more precise colors. -

Yeah, got the video on puget's youtube post. It is so helpful! In case someone needs it, I reposted below.

I need to throw in my Killer N 1103 and repaste. I will probably do it right when I get my laptop! -
Well got my 2 P150EMs today. Immediately began the tear down to replace the stock thermal grease with Arctic Cooling MX-2. Not impressed with two things....First, it's obvious the installer didn't have the correct sized screw driver because the philips heads were almost completely rounded on two of the screws, and others all the others were beat up too. Second, there was a nasty mess of paste all over the place. A little ArctiClean later, and things were fine, except I had to be ultra careful with the screws.
Installing windows + Drivers now. Everything else looks pretty clean. Stock 500gb hard drive on the P150EM was a Seagate Momentus...Stock 500gb Hard drive on my W110er was a WD Caviar Black. -
I have this vision of one guy locked away in a garage somewhere rushing to get these laptops built.

Mine just hit phase two. How long does it usually take to put them together and ship?

i keep getting an error trying to search for this so sorry if its a repeat.
I was an idiot and assumed the integrated wireless card was 802.11n with dual band. it is not...
Is there a guide somewhere on how to upgrade to one of the other cards? like the Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 Wireless -

I am strongly considering the NP9150 with 7970m and am curious about the switchable graphics and how much battery life you can get with it?
-
Edit: You wouldn't be looking to sell your 11", now, would you? -
HTWingNut, your awesome! If you get your hands on a 9150, we will be graced with an awesome review! 7970 is amazing piece of hardware, just crazy how fast mgpu's advanced this year.

EDIT: I just tried again (for the 30th odd time) and after hitting a bunch of random keys the laptop suddenly started working. I have no idea what I pressed or why after several hours it decided to work. Does it take a few hours of battery charging before the laptop will function? Hopefully this doesn't happen again because I don't know what I pressed or why it suddenly worked.
PREVIOUS PROBLEM [If this happens to you just start pressing keys wildly?] Well this is unfortunate... NP9150 finally arrived in the mail today just in time for the weekend. I was very excited. The only problem is it doesn't even work... I can't get anything to display on the laptop's screen or my external monitor. There is no output to display. Nothing.
I ordered mine with the 7970. I don't know if it's related to my problem, but I also opted for them to send it without a hard drive. Well, the computer gets power, the hard drive light flickers, the fans turn on, the CD-ROM spins as though it's reading the Windows CD, but no matter what I do nothing is displayed on the screen. The monitor back light turns on, but otherwise it's 100% blank. I've tried all the combinations of the following: with a HD, without a HD, with AC power, without AC power, connected to an external monitor, using built in monitor. I've triple checked that the battery is connected. It's like the video card is not connected properly, or the motherboard is totally screwed up (I figure it should either show something on the screen or beep loudly due to a connection problem).
Anyone have any ideas? I feel like I'm missing something stupid, but I've literally read through the manual 5 times now. I'm going to e-mail Xotic but I have a feeling I won't be hearing from them for a while seeing as it's the weekend. -
OK... in need of some advice. Without boring you all I'll get to the point...
If my school is giving me a brand new basic model MBP 13" with the IB/HD4000 setup, should I spend the ~$1800 on this Sager NP 9150? I do some light gaming (not going for the craziest FPS) and I've ONLY used Windows. This MBP will be my first experience with Apple and OS X (besides iPods/iPhones).
I "believe" that I need Windows for more software options and just general familiarity, but I'm wondering if all of that is worth the price tag. Granted, my new MBP will be school property but I teach overseas (China) and it's basically my personal machine generally speaking. I like the idea of having my true "personal" machine that I can do whatever I want with, but again, is it worth the price?
Basically I'm asking this: Why should I buy this Sager NP 9150 when I'll be receiving a brand new 13" MBP?
**I know there is no "right" answer, but I'm just looking for some honest opinions on this. Thanks again in advance for your help.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I just found out from my school that all teachers will be receiving these MBPs for the next school year. I placed my Sager NP 9150 order back on May 5th and it's due to arrive next Monday. Since I literally just heard the MBP news, it got me thinking about whether to keep this Sager order. Hope that clarifies some things. -

Hey I have a question...when the laptop arrives, should I expect the battery to be charged or will it need to be plugged in first? Since many of you have recieved the laptops already I figured it'd be an easy question.

Hey guys just installed BF3 on my np9150 7970m and seem to be getting 40 FPS average at ultra preset, but at times went down to 30-31.
Is re-installing windows 7 really necessary? Will it really give me 5-10 more FPS in games? I mean I uninstalled and deleted all the bloatware and useless files, how can re-installing windows make it perform better? -
So after a few days with my NP9150 here are just some quick thoughts. My specs:
i7 3610QM
675M
8GB DDR3 1600
500GB 7200rpm
Intel 6300 WLAN
95% NTSC color gamut matte
First off, this thing is a beast. It feels extremely solid and the build quality is excellent. I actually like the rubbery feel that covers most of the laptop. It's smooth enough, but doesn't pickup fingerprints. The case is solid with little push and I feel confident in traveling with it.
The screen is gorgeous! I've caught myself just staring at the wallpaper a few times because of how bright and clear the picture is. I haven't been able to watch any movies yet, but the few trailers I've seen have been amazing. The viewing angles are incredible for a laptop. I'm used to a 27" monitor that has excellent viewing angles (178/178) and the laptop's are solid. It is very bright! I had to turn down the brightness a lot to a little under 50%. I love the matte finish and am so happy I didn't have to settle for glossy on a laptop.
The WLAN has incredible range. I upgraded to the 6300 because I had no need for bluetooth and am happy I did so. I get full bars in places where other devices only get a few. It may be unfair to compare this to cellphones, ipads and older laptops, but it's definitely nice to see the range and strength that the wireless card has.
The laptop is also very quiet and the fans only really rev up when I turn on a game. Even with them on they are much quieter than other laptop fans.
In the future, I plan to upgrade to a SSD (although the hard drive right now feels very snappy and is quiet). I have an 256gb m4 in my main computer and love it. I think I'd want to get a ~500gb one for the laptop. I bought a higher quality bag to go along with it (I went with a Belkin after doing some research) and a mouse and keyboard. -
Hello everybody.
I'm a new possessor of the Clevo P150EM with i7 3720QM and AMD 7970M.
I've got some questions about CPU and VGA.
The first thing is that in full load with FurMark (with res. 1920x1080 and not full screen) it gives me after some minutes 102° Celsius........... i think it's quite incredible. Do you have similar temperatures?
I ask if you can do the same test and let's see what temperatures you have got.
The test is: FurMark with no full scren and resolution 1920x1080:
My temperatures result are these:
Second problem is the CPU. my i7 3720QM should be 2.6Ghz and with TURBO 3.6GHz, but look out my core speed with HWINFO64:
Normal 100% with no TURBO:
With TURBO:
Can you tell me if my notebook is normal or if there's some problems with GPU temp and CPU core speed? -
Hello Everyone,
Following a successful 2nd job interview yesterday, I submitted my purchase of the np9150 from Xotic last night.
I'm replacing a Dell XPS l501x that I purchased last year, thinking it would carry me for several years through school and modern games at medium settings, boy was I wrong. The 435m seems to have some very strange bottleneck that allows it to play some modern games really well (Mass Effect 3), but others run terribly. For instance, Battlefield 3 runs (poorly) identical at both the lowest resolution and settings and at medium-high resolution and settings, as if it isn't the resolution or anything controllable by the settings that is taxing the GPU. Other than that, I love the l501x and I hope the np9150 is comparable in build quality. By the way, if you haven't heard the sound from the JBL speakers and waves maxxaudio3 in an l501x, it is a work of art! The only aspect of the np9150 I'm dreading is the sound from the speakers, which I understand will be a pretty big let down coming from the l501x. If anyone has found a way to improve the sound from the speakers of the np9150, please share!!!
Sorry for the lengthy back story.
My upgrades include the 95% matte screen, 7970m, removal of branding, and I downgraded the memory. With the discount Xotic offers to NBR members, I was just able to justify the price. I selected these components with the priorities of extending usable life of the laptop and value, with a budget of around $1500 USD. If wifi performance is lacking, I will upgrade the wifi card myself. I also plan to jump to an SSD as soon as I can justify the price... so maybe after the world ends in December.
All I can do now is wait, and hope Sager is able to fulfill Xotic's back-orders in the next two weeks as Justin anticipates. Then, hopefully, there are enough 7970ms available for us new to the waiting room, and my little beast arrives before my birthday on the 18th of July. A month is an extremely long time to wait for any purchase outside of a home or new car in my opinion. I hope it will be worth the wait!
Thanks to all those who have shared their experience with their Clevo/Sager/np9150/mGPU. You are primarily why I feel comfortable purchasing a Clevo without every laying eyes or hands on one. The direct support offered on NBR from the Xotic reps (and other resellers!) is also very impressive and makes complete business sense. I look forward to contributing back to this community once I am equipped to do so, beginning hopefully with a few tricks or modifications to improve the sound through the speakers.
Happy waiting! -
I have waited almost exactly a month in my case (4/29 -> 5/30) and believe me. it is well worth the wait. With their description that they have received a "larger batch" of 7970M's, it generally shouldn't take a month, but some things can just happen and ruin everything :/
But it's quite the beast, sit tight and hang in there! -
Hello!
Yesterday morning I bought a pretty standard build with a 95% screen/Intel-6300 and I have a few questions regarding the laptop.
I only allowed myself $1400 to spend and I need the laptop relatively soon so I passed on the Gpu upgrade, I think it is a pretty good deal, I don't need anything too crazy and I plan on building a new gaming rig when Intel's next die size drop hits.
1. I couldn't wait for and don't need the power of a 7950m at the moment, does anyone think the gpu would be a relatively cheap upgrade (~200) in a year or so?
2. I've read quite a bit in this thread and is it safe to assume almost 4 hours on integrated and 2 or so on the discrete card for battery life?
Other than that thanks for all of your posts, really helped me decide on this laptop and make sure it is what I wanted. -
-
They probably stripped them all because they are in a rush to fill the orders
