Somehow Apple got their keyboards to be anti-ghosting. Tried several random 6-key combos, all of them registered.
Clevo needs to design their keyboards like Macsthat way they'll won't be having these stupid issues... but fail how the laptop is advertised a gaming laptop but has major ghosting issues. Then again, I have no clue when I'm ever going to use W+E+Space...
-
With these little issues popping up and feeling self-conscious about dropping over $2000 on a 15" laptop, I decided to google around looking for other options for gaming laptops. I have to say that for my price range these Clevo based systems are hard to beat for what hardware you get for the price. Was trying to convince myself to maybe bump up to 17" and get the new Samsung 7 Series but you are totally paying for flash over true power. I wish that the P150EM maybe looked a little more like the Samsung. It was funny when I saw an Origin Eon at the top of a list of gaming laptops and went to the website and there was the Clevo (with a plastic lid) staring back at me!

Yup, the Origin is the same Clevo as the Sager NP9150

If people are still worried about the keyboard ghosting, I might point out two things:
1) These keyboards have been out for over a month now, if the issue just came up within the last few days it must not really be that noticeably except to a select few.
2) There have been other "deal-breaking" issues, such as "terrible cooling" that clevo "should be ashamed of" and "should take back to the drawing board" that lasted for like a week before everyone forgot about them.
So really, before you panic and bail to AW, check yourself to see how often you actually use WEspace. For the vast majority of users it's probably not that much. -

For additional perspective, we have been selling the Steelseries keyboards for over a year, and not one person that we can find ever brought this topic up to our attention.
Really, the sky isn't falling -
^^^^*slowly glances around*
Uh... Why are you still up at 2:30AM? Sager reseller support never ceases to amaze me. -
Anyone have any idea how the screen on the Clevo will compare to the Samsung NP700G7C-S01CA? I'm a bit of a Samsung fanboy and this laptop is trying to entice me even though I know the internals can't quite compare to the Clevo.
-
That's a picture of a msi 16-f3. Would be quite a coincidence if that keyboard was simply frankensteined in. Does anyone have any pictures of the ss keyboard in a clevo?

Wouldn't every keyboard have certain combos that don't work? I checked my current computer against that Microsoft ghosting test, and it has a lot of ghosting, I never really noticed though. I mean, what does it matter, as long as you're not playing splitscreen multiplayer games with your friends like back in the good old days
-
To agree with the general feelings going on right now, though, its not that big of a deal. Besides, you can always use an external keyboard if it really bothers you. -
I'm guessing the P150EM won't work with a 3DVision Kit because it's only a 60Hz panel right?
-
-
I'm not the biggest game player in the world... I prefer more the wander around puzzle solving type of game than RPG but how about a USB game pad to get over the ghosting issue?
(Ducks incase he said something crazy!!) -
You can use a gamepad or external keyboard etc. yes. the ghosting will only happen on the onboard keyboard. That is for sure; most other keyboards even external ones ; have some form of ghosting though.
-
Thats my point... the keyboard is not that bigger issue in the grand scheme of what your getting for the price of this beast! There are ways around it.
I'm also not sure that I can imagine wapping out an ASUS G series or an Alienware on the train table without people think that I'm compensating for something lol! (Yea... I'm just not that young lol) -
I don't think they'll think you are copensating; they may just think that you are a serious nerd lol.
The Clevo's do appear much more professional and business like than the Asus and Alienwares and MSI's. I can't stand the "Gamer" design of them. I prefer simple like the clevo myself.
Especially considering I am a business major and plan on bringing this laptop to work once I get a job in an office. [definitely much better than the computer they will set me up with; i'll just bring my P150EM and maybe my own 24" monitor hah.] -
Hi Huys, im finally gut my order in, but from order of my mom, i need to ask if Xotic PC is actually SAFE to buy from, and that putting my credit card number on their online configuration is safe, and whatnot. And that they won't scam me off of $1500 Thanks!
-
-
Thats Great, thanks.
*Hear That Mom? I can buy a computer!!!* -
Yup, I used my parent's credit card as well. Xotic isn't going to scam you, lol
-
I wish my parents would let me use their card -_-. Haha; I'm 20 now so they never pay for anything. Had to buy it with hard earned cash + some birthday money I saved up
ha. Good thing I took a job as a network/security installer the past few months haha.
I believe I'm going to wait another 2-4 weeks for my precious 7970m graphics card... It's killing me to wait but it's literally 60% more powerful than the GTX 670m I'm looking at... -
So I just recently got my P150 from malibal (great experience, will buy from again). It's been running like a champ so far, and the 670m has been holding up great. My only issue right now is Diablo 3, and I'm hoping someone else is experiencing my problem. No matter what setting its on, the FPS is capped at 31. I've played with all the options, but nothing will get rid of it. I eventually booted it up with the integrated graphics, and at low it was getting up to 45fps, so its obviously something with the 670. I'm hoping its just from lack of official driver support from nvidia...Has anyone else experienced this?
-
-
Considering I've waited a month for my laptop Eurocom was nice enough to hook me up with a 95% matte V.4 display, upgrade from 1333mhz 8GB to 1600mhz 8GB, and to remove all branding from the laptop.
Now I'm more willing to wait another 2-4 weeks even though it won't be fun -_- -
I haVe Clevo P150hm and its very powerful laptop for its size but I want to buy Clevo P150EM bare bone with without cpu just the motherboard and a GPU
so , can I swap the cpu from Clevo P150hm to Clevo P150EM and is the heat sink the same in both models ?? -

my CPU is i7-2670QM and is in the Clevo P150EM list of compatible cpus
but I am not sure if it easy to swap and if the em has the same hm heat-sink
I have been building my desktop PCs for 7y put never a laptop -
Edit: Could also be your antivirus / firewall clogging things up. -
just remove the heat sink. Gentally pop the processor out. Apply fresh thermal paste and re-install the CPU in new unit. Just be careful not to get paste anywhere other than the back of the processor and make sure there is only just enough paste to make contact with both surfaces. Too thicker layer has the opposite effect and reduces conductivity between the processor and the heatsink. I always jiggle the heatsink slightly side to side on the processor to make the paste as thin as possible before tightening the heatsink down.
Forgot to say that the processor pins will be usually be clamped by a small screw which needs releasing before the processor pops out. -
RJ Tech sells the barebones chassis.

thanks GTMonster

I know the ghosting issue has been brought up several times, but I just want to clarify.
WEspace doesn't work, which will make PvP in WoW rather bothersome. I really want to buy this laptop over the NP9130 (which doesn't have this problem) and it's only the keyboard ghosting thing that's keeping me from doing it.
Are there ANY other alternatives other than just plugging in an external keyboard? ANY at all? If not, I'll just stick with the 9130. -
You can remap the eys to other keys.
-
Would prefer not to-are there any other custom keyboards?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
No, there no other custom keyboards available. All of the possible alternatives have been detailed already.
-
I'm going to go ahead and stick with the 9130 then
-
None of the resellers sell 120Hz 3D panels for these units by chance?
-
can i completely remove the gpu and still have it running without a problem ?
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Just get the Sager NP2252 instead. -
i dont play video games, but i want all the high end tech

Silly Clevo BIOS. -
Question for all the P150EM owners out there. I've read a hundred or so of the posts in this thread, and none seemed to address my questions, so here goes:
I'm going back to school soon, and this is the only laptop I can find that meets my criteria. Lately, with the release of Diablo III, I've found myself facing 13 hour weekend gaming sessions. Will the cooling system be able to handle it? My current computer has an integrated GPU, and, on minimum settings, the keys get too hot to comfortably leave my fingers on. This is unacceptable. Sure, I want amazing performance, but not at the expense of the longevity of my machine or my comfort. -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
But, I ask again...why the Sager NP9170 if you don't want the video card? That is the only real reason, other than the backlit keyboard, to get it instead of a Sager NP9130 or Sager NP6165. If it is the backlit keyboard...whew! That is an expensive keyboard -
See from minute 28
I'm sure that it is well built and can handle with intensive gaming... -
