I don't know, that's caused me to end up with some pretty poor products in the past. I'm sticking with research.

Research is great as well. It's nice dig into the item before you buy it. No issues with that.

What I'm trying to convey, is that impulse reactions to things are not necessarily bad.
We can regret all day long, I'm trying to say that when you make a purchase, on inpulse, find the reason you wanted it, and latch on. When you get tired of it, sell it.

Buying things is a lot like chasing tail at the bar. You liked her for reason. You enaged for a reason. When that reason is no longer at the forefront, then pop smoke and head out. But don't regret it.

Go enjoy the mahcine man, it's nice

Your username seems apt after reading this. :vbtongue: :vbwink:

And to be fair, one can still end up with a bad experience even with research. Luck is fickle.

Hi I am interested if it is possible to use external gpu with this laptop. I see that there is no thunderbolt 3,but I don't know if it is possible via mini display port.

Ok so my apex will come tomorrow and i would love to get a little advice. As far as i know swapping the HDD for SSD is not considered a warranty void. My idea is to change the HDD with SSD that i have around collecting dust, and add a nvme. My question is where to put the windows, as the second drive will be used for steam games mostly.

Windows should be in NVMe. It's much much better than SATA SSD

Depends on which SSDs you are comparing, windows will like a decent QD1 performance which compared between some NVMe and SATA drives is not always that far apart.

I don't know if I'd say "much better", the difference in boot times is not as impressive as I hoped, and whether it significantly speeds up your experience has been fairly hit and miss when I've used them. Great for moving big files, or if you're hosting a database off the system though.

    Circling back to the question...

Granted, an NVMe SSD has the most potential, but your mileage may vary. Your setup kind of hinges on drive capacities and usage, too.

    Hi Sergey,
confirming same issue. Installed RAM supports 1333/2666, but currrent memory clock is only 1200/2400.
No idea how to fix that...

I think we have to wait for a bios update?

    Hi guys,
I think I found the solution for my RAM Problem. My RAM runs @ 2666 via XMP 2.0 only.

    i) Is there any possibility to activate XMP at N950TP6?
ii) If not, is there any other SO-DIMM RAM on the market which runs @ 2666 without XMP 2.0?

What is limiting factor? I've checked cpu and chipset specs and both are capable to handle 2666 memory.

It depends on the BIOS options exposed, try seeing if Intel XTU has memory speed options available.

Default settings mostly. If your BIOS is locked this won't be something you can change, but many system builders will have their own that has the options available.

Now It runs with 2666 Mhz instead 2400 Mhz

    2666@without XMP2.PNG

    How I did it?
I replaced Crucial Balistix Sport DDR4-2666 CL16 for Hynix HyperX Impact DDR4-2666. Now it runs how it should.

My old drive (1tb usb 3.0) work fine on 3 ports, my new drive(5tb usb 3.0) just work in 1 of 2 usb 3.0 and usb 2.0 port. Also i have looked around the internet, i think my problem related to somewhat legancy usb support ?

you can try out modded drivers (better driver stacks) which in the past has always worked for me. Have a look here.

Guys i sold my W650KK1 and ordered a N957TP6 with i5-8500, now its about the RAM. In detail the choice of the speed. I can order 8GB modules 2400MHz for ~60€ (70,21USD) or 2666MHz for ~90€ (105USD)

Which differences in FPS could i expect in Games if i opt for the 2666. If i do not feel any difference my wallet will do for sure ;-)

Lovely, I will try it now.
For the ram, am concern that 8gb of ram is somehow not adequate for 2018. 16gb 2400 single stick is a good choice. The difference is minimal between 2 speeds. You should get the 8gb 2400 for your wallet

ok i'll opt for the 8GB 2400 MHz RAM and get two of them. I'll prefer that instead one 16GB because of the dual channel speed when gaming in CPU capped game....

Yes, standard parts are used, though you do need to match size and connector type/placement. Most listings are for generic slot in replacements of what they happen to have in stock. If that's ok with you then it should work just fine.

one question - is it possible to replace the eDP display with a G-Sync panel? Is the eDP connected to Intel or the Nvidia GPU ?

That ultimately depends on the model.

Gsync requires direct connection to nvidia gpu, if your laptop has the ability to switch, optimus and the intel igpu need to be disabled. The other question is whether the OEM has paid nvidia to certify the hardware combo (mainboard, gpu, display) to unlock gsync.

GSync should be available for one of the external mini DP port. so the GPU/Mainboard should be fine shouldn't it? I don't know if it will work with the eDP too... The Laptop is still on the way, so i do not have it here to check for myself. Its not a big deal for me if its impossible to swap in a GSync panel. Just wanted to check out my options :-D so far.

I don't think this model has the switch between mixed and direct GPU like PA71 variant. The HDMI and one DP port connect to GPU so those are GSync.

@ AndiiiHD I tried your solution but not working. Only a USB port reject my drive but not the same case with other 2 ports

ok, how much current does your drive need ? i think USB 2 is capable of ~500mA and USB 3 maximum ~900mA.

The internal GPU has to be qualified for G-sync too and those that don't ship with a G-sync panel are not.

hey guys which undervolt do you use for your i5/i7 CPU?

i tried today -75mV on Core and Cache of my i5-8500. 2 hours of gaming (rat slaying in Vermintide 2 ;-) was fine with CPU temperature in the mid/high 60's and fan on automatic (not FN + 1)

One more question how to change the keyboard backight color - in the control center (CCC) under "Device" i see a "Back Light Keyboard" button but klicking it does not open any menu for me....

That's a really good temp. Mine is -125 but can get hot as 88 on load.
To change the backlit colour, you need to use "flexikey" app.

    hello.
I recently purchased from gamingguru the VENUS MDE which is built with Clevo N957TP6.
The problem I am dealing is with touchpad. In the first place I did not know it was the touchpad. When I was closing the lid with laptop open and locked, I was hearing some noise which apparently was the narrator (windows 10) which was starting on its own. I was able to disable narrator but then other problem came up. Programs were opening on itself and I found out on google that the touchpad when the lid is closed was moving the mouse and starting doing crazy things.
See for example here similar problem but on a different laptop.
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo...g-Option-Laptop-Goes-CRAZY-opens/td-p/1172775

When I am using controlcenter where I disable the touchpad then I dont have any problem.

I used teamviewer and I enabled the option to see remote cursor and the cursor is moving automatically all the time going crazy, opening programs, closing others etc..

Anyone is aware of this? I even put the sensitivity to low on touchpad settings but it still does the same. The only thing that works is when I completely disable the touchpad when the lid is closed. But for me this is not a permanent solution.

Is it clevos problem or from the company that I purchased the laptop?

    thanks
