Holly crap, that´s some really bad attitude!
Whatever you do, do not take risks flashing it in Windows. Do it either in DOS or EFI terminal.

I was thinking about flashing it using a pendrive with bootable dos but still,i need some kind of guide that i can depend on to not screw this up i think it shouldn't be hard but still im kinda confused about how to do it so im still stuck
Today i've called them and they told me that the person that has knowledge on how to do it don't want to write me a guide or just tell the correct order via phone and they insist that i have to pay them 25$ send my n850hk pay for shipping ofc and wait a few weeks well... that dosen't sound right.. -

Ok download this:
https://www.obsidian-pc.com/N850HKLATEST.zip
Inside you will find two folders:
-EFI
-BIOSTOFLASH
Copy both folder to C: (Yeah copy them to the root of your system hdd, its ok)
Reboot and as soon as the laptop turns off start pressing F7, press it fast and keep hitting it until a blue box shows up asking you to select the boot device.
You will notice that it will show your Windows Boot Loader and a new EFI OS option.
Select the EFI OS entry. It will boot to a EFI terminal.
Now you need to browser to the BIOSTOFLASH folder.
Usually that would be in the File System 2 (FS2):
But you can try it like this, type the following commands:
FS1:
DIR
Is the folder BIOSTOFLASH listed? If not continue:
FS2:
DIR
If you can now see the BIOSTOFLASH listed then enter it and flash away:
cd BIOSTOFLASH
FLASH.nsh
After you are done reboot and once you are in Windows just delete those two folders from C: if indeed you used the C:
PS. I edited the Flash Script to flash everything in one go!Last edited: Nov 21, 2018 -

For some reason pretty much all the reviews i can find are for the N850HK version which seems to be a 2017 model, while the 850EK seems to be a 2018 model.
The 2017 review that I found mentioned that the exhaust ports are located on the sides of the laptop so you will have hot air blowing on your hands...i'm not sure if thats a problem with the 850EK still.
Also wondering where the ports are located on the 850EK, and whether the fans have the same issue as my P15SM where the fans will go into turbo mode after the CPU hits 80 degrees and will not go back to normal even after the temperature drops to 50 degrees.
With the current black friday sales, im looking at about $1.4k AUD for :
i7-8750H
16gb RAM
GTX 1050ti
480gb SSD + 1tb 7200rpm HDD
Which is unfortunately much higher than I wanted to spend (dell had similar specs for about $1k before black friday). My local reselle does not seem to have an option to downgrade the CPU, which is I wanted to do (wanted a GTX 1050ti but not a top of the line CPU).
Edit : Actually I think I will get a P650HP because its roughly the same price with a GTX 1060. Anyone know anything about it?Last edited: Nov 23, 2018 -

Vent positions have not changed, one rear and one on the right hand side. Listings and manuals will give full technical details.

Hello all, I am new around here! I have a N850HK1 and was considering applying liquid metal thermal paste in my CPU to lower temperatures. Has anyone tried this before, and what results have you seen?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You're best way to judge really is taking of the heatsink and checking the pattern of thermal paste, if it's even and thin then it's ready to just apply it. Obviously then you have to consider perhaps setting up a barrier unless you are confident in your ability to apply JUST the right amount (usually a lot less than you think).

I just want to setup a bios.
If I don't install ec firmware.
What are the codes I need to enter on the bios screen.

What's your full spec? Normally it's good to go out the box.

Any one know where I can get a replacement power supply for the N850HJ in europe?
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Resellers should be able to sort you out or look for a 5.5*2.5 barrel type 19v PSU.

Hi guys!
I have a N850HK1 laptop and would like to upgrade the screen to a 120/144Hz panel.
I found a store that told me it's possible but the screen and cable necessary were out of stock.
Can anyone recommend a store in europe that does this upgrade?
Thanks in advance! -
-
Problem is I don't have the technical knowledge to change a screen on a laptop even if I knew what to order.
But if there is a screen on aliexpress and cable maybe I can get a store to do that for me.
Anyone know what i can look for?
Thank you again! -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
You are likely better off buying the cable and screen yourself and taking it to a place.
-
Is the any part numbers I should look for?
Searched on eBay and ali express and didn't find anything -
I am trying to recover my bios after a failed BIOS update; this is a Clevo N850HK1. My idea is to use a Raspberry Pi 3 with Flashrom and a physical connection to the BIOS Chip. In order to write in the BIOS Chip, I need a <file>, namely the BIOS bin.
The BIOS File I'm using can be found in the following link:
https://www.eluktronics.com/n850hk1-n857hk1-n870hk1-bios-update/
As you can see, the folder BIOS_ME includes a ME_D0.BIN file. I tried using that file and got error "Image size doesn't match the flash Chip's size" I decided to pad the file to meet the desired size. Used Flashrom to writing the file, everything was going right. Then I tried turning on the computer on, and nothing happened.
In the other hand, the file located in folder /ALL N850HJ8M.22 have the exact 8.388mb size needed to match the flash Chip's size. How can I write that file to the BIOS chip? Can I just write that file (with .22 extension) to the chip directly?
I've explored every single file in that document and can't find any clue on how that file goes into the flash chip.
Any help will be very appreciated -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
That's an update rather than a full rom I believe.
-
If so, do you know where can I get the full rom then? -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Speak to your reseller, see if they can get a file from clevo. Otherwise a dump from another user would work.

In this case, would be very appreciated if someone could share me that dump file. -

That´s the file i use to recover a BIOS with my chip burner.
That N850HJ8M.22 should be exactly what you need btw...
PM me if you need additional help. -
I wrote the bios with that file and successfully recovered my laptop.
Thank all for your help!FTW_260 and John@OBSIDIAN-PC like this. -
Currently looking at a N850HK1 - Obsidian.
CPU: i7 7700HQ
GPU: GTX1050-Ti 4GB
RAM: Crucial Ballistic Sport LT 8GB (1x8GB) - BLS8G4S26BFSD
SSD: 860EVO M.2 500GB
Problem: The laptop freezes randomly.
This can happen during gaming, Netflix but also while using office. Interesting enough the freeze does not happen at a specific moment nor does it depends on workload. I've tested 3D Mark (97% pass / score) while the temps (according to Obsidian Fan Control) and HWinfo64 stayed normal, laptop is up2date (according to Obsidian-Updater).Event Viewer does not show anything interesting except for Critial Error Kernel 41 Power Loss, which is obvious since this is caused by pressing the power button to force a restart. No BSOD or any beeps are shown as either... Is the laptop just stubborn or is there something I've missed? -
Is it completely freezing ?
Mine does a graphic freeze (I can't still hear sounds playing perfectly fine) once or twice a week which requires a forced restart, but I haven't been bothered enough to look for a fix yet. -
-
I thougt it had to do with thermals and reapplyed thermal paste, but it didn't help.
Let me know if you find something on this please. -
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Have you looked at the DPC latency?
-
It seems the problem of the laptop consists out of 2 parts:
1: RAM problem. The 8GB RAM (1x 8GB) created lots of freezes. What we have done is: moved my 16GB (from the P650HS-G) to the N850HK1 and the result is with 16GB there are barely any freezes. In return we installed the the 8GB (of the N850HK1) in my P650HS-G, which resulted in no pass in 3D Mark benchmarks (scores are between 78% and 88% with Fire Strike Stress Test) but no freezes or beeps. 8GB for a N850HK1 should be enough right?
2: Unknown beep. Recently a beep appeared, any idea what kind of error this is? Video: https://drive.google.com/open?id=11SNlvXJcexVqgnYiAKzJUcpRfafsTLTF
-
Meaker@Sager Company Representative
Any on screen messages with the beeps? Usually it's the ECU unhappy with something.
-
No onscreen messages, just the beep as in the video.

Check temperatures and the seating of all fans and heatsinks not just on the chips but on the VRMs too.
