As you'd probably both be interested in this, it is a PCIe 3.0 x4 connection - using the DSL6340 controller (not the low power Alpine Ridge controller which is only PCIe 3.0 x2). System was designed to be "eGPU'd" - primarily with the AKiTiO Node so good luck! We have the TB3 version in stock but aren't selling eGPU solutions with it at the moment, basically because of extremely low demand and that even with 4 lanes it's a hard argument to make performance wise with anything over a desktop GTX 1050 to be honest.

Here the most annoying thing that i´m having with this model (which i been using for codding).
The auto screen brightness adjust.... IT IS ANNOYING.
You can easy test this, set your screen to maximum brightness, now maximize a explorer window, since most of the screen will be white it will adjust the brightness to the max, now open a full dark window, something that actually works really good is our website, but anything in dark gray will do, like this for example: https://forum.zwame.pt/
As soon as you maximize that darker window the brightness starts dimming.
The only solution is adjusting a big chunk of stuff:
First THIS:
https://communities.intel.com/thread/105252
Then also in the Intel HD Options go to "Video" and disable Movie Detection and Contrast Improvement.
That will do it. -
I don't understand how the other reseller can sell it with this fan problem... -

I'll add the new .06 BIOS in a few minutes.

Hi guys,
in regard of Bios and EC. Since N130BU is now sold by so many retailers I still wonder why most of them have different Bios and EC versions out there. Bruno pasted these are the current ones: EC 1.05.04; BIOS 1.05.06.
I checked my prototype for development I see EC 1.05.04 and BIOS 1.05.06C-TEST. Also I see AMI v2.18.1263 printed on the Clevo vanilla BIOS.
Depending on the Linux kernel we use for our OS, we especially develop for that machine, the fan acts differently. Also the EC can be only modified thru EC hacks itself.
When I look at Tuxedo, they ship BIOS 1.05.09 and EC 1.05.02c; StarLaptop has instead the latest versions also (BIOS 1.05.06 + EC 1.05.04 ).
I had compared at least the EC, which are having the same checksum. The BIOS on the other hand differ. I assume they are both based on the vanilla BIOS, but slightly modified in regard of branding.
So my question is now on how it is possible to get the latest BIOS versions and if needed on how to modify and even brand them? How does Clevo distribute the BIOS anyway? -

I have a Clevo N131BU running Arch Linux and I am running into the same problem with the fans. When the fan starts it is always spinning very fast and making a lot of noise, although temperatures are not so high 45-60 C.
It's running BIOS 1.05.05 with the 04 EC. Did you had any luck in fixing this ? Is the 1.05.06 BIOS the solution ?
Thank you. -
John, thx for your feedback. I'll look into it. So I tried to start with basics. Since the AMI bios needed some tools I started with AFUEfix64 first:
- created the USB stick and added the basic EFI files needed
- added latest AFUEfix64 to it and started the stick
- within the EFI shell I did a backup of the existing currently running BIOS via AfuEfix64.efi backup.rom /O
- Then I tried to re-flash this via AfuEfix64.efi backup.rom /p /b /n
- This however fails with 18 - Error : Secure Flash Rom verify fail.
When I look into the StarLab bios with given tools it seems to be within a AMI Aptio capsule. This is not the fact with my dumped bios nor the one here shared.
Bios Lock seems to be disabled, at least that is what I can read if I go to the security sector of the bios of those I'd checked. However something still holds me back due secure flash rom verification. Any tips what might be needed? -
I actually double checked and I have the EC ending in 03, maybe this is causing my issue. Problem is that the fan seem to be spinning based on CPU load (even for that, they turning on way too quick and too ramped up) and not on my CPU temperature like I would imagine.

By downloading "Schenker EC from their site" you mean to flash the original downloadable file, which is programmed to let the fan run just from 75° and up ?
BTW: Did anyone tried this - https://github.com/SkyLandTW/clevo-indicator (more on: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2016/06/control-laptop-fan-ubuntu-indicator-clevo) ?
Kind regards, waitan. -

Hi,
got my Schenker NB130BU today - it will go back next week:
- Weight (even configured without hdd, ssd) is > 1,4 kg
- Thunderbolt-port wont charge the system
The screen (FHD) is quite bright, the keyboard is ok, although i don't like the keys (e.g. page-up/down right of the enter key).
But spoken in terms of today it is somehow to bulky and heavy for a 13"-notebook.

Now, I moved on from my endeavours with the fans but I hit another problem. I'm trying to use a miniDisplayPort to HDMI converter with this laptop using Linux (tried Arch and Ubuntu) but I can't get it to work. Does anyone have any experience with this ? I have yet to try and see if it works if I install Windows, but will get to that soon. -
I have this laptop but the display seems to self adjust its brightness and contrast, i followed the post made earlier in this topic about this however the intel graphics settings are missing the display power saving technology option, i have done everything else suggested there but no change. Highly annoying since i cannot use this to edit pictures that require accurate colour reproduction.
Can anyone help me? -

I have a dual boot of windows 10 and ubuntu 17.04. Both os's do it.
Yep everything regarding screen dimming etc is disabled in windows. Also what seems interesting is it also does this in the bios setup etc which leads me to believe its either done in hardware or the panel itself, if so maybe there may be a firmware hack? Ive heard of this issue on the dell xps 13 series so i wonder if its something similar going on here -
Judging by the lack of replies Im guessing there's no fix for this, maybe worth replacing the display panel itself for the FHD version?
Maybe that display wont have this annoying feature.
Just to clarify its set to high performance, required settings in the intel graphics configuration set to off and yet it still self adjusts. -
I'd like to upgrade my processor to the 8550U but it seems to be impossible to actually find someone selling the individual component

Yes, technically if you unsoldered it and got the new one soldered on it should work in the same generation but since BGA parts are not even reseller facing you wont see them very often.

Has anyone attempted a screen replacement with an aftermarket NON-Pentile display? Surely there are plenty of 13.3" panels these days due to ultrabook manufacturers all following the "retina" bandwagon. Preferably something that's QHD (2560 x 1440) or QHD+ (3200x1600).

So long as it has the same pin count and mounting it will work.
-
Yeah, I understand that in theory. Was just wondering if anyone had tried it and could recommend some panels that are known to work. Trying to figure out the eDP connector type + mounting holes for a little known laptop model seems somewhat difficult...
Anyhow, I have a different question. Does the base Clevo BIOS allow configuring the TDP of the chip, or is that locked down? What about the ability to undervolt the processor to give it some more TDP headroom? -

Go by panel models, any model with the same panel and other options will work.

Hi everyone. I bought this laptop a week ago from Raiontech (an italian dealer, apparently they get their pieces from PCspecialist) and it arrived yesterday. It's a wonderful laptop, I specced mine with 16gb of ram and the i5 and I get plenty of performance for my needs. There's only one problem. The screen supplies seems to be a lottery.
I was expecting to get the Panda igzo panel but I found out with Raiontech that the i5 variant gets Innolux N133HCE-EN1 (CMN1372) a-si IPS panel and that the i7 variants now gets the Panda igzo LM133LF5L01 instead of the LC133LF2L01. Did anyone get the same panel as mine? Does anybody knows the srgb coverage of this Innolux panel? I couldn't find anything on the web nor here on Notebookcheck -

72% of CIE1931 according to the specs.
-
Yeah, that's what I found on panelook. Usually it means it can range from 85% to 100% sRGB. Unfortunately I can't verify it myself right now

It's the annoying thing about about having so many different standards out there.
