The NP5125's touchpad supports multi-touch features, correct. Pinch to zoom, etc.

    ---

Regarding the Seagate Momentus XT - yes, it is the fastest notebook hard drive right now. It has the boot speeds of an SSD. Basically the 4GB SSD mirrors commonly-used data so if you open one program a lot it will intelligently copy those files over and thus give you better performance. Despite the built-in SSD, it appears as one drive in the system.

Some people have been reporting quality issues with the XT in our hardware forum though, and also in the Newegg user reviews:
    Hardware Components and Aftermarket Upgrades

so it appears as one drive, so are the 4gb of SSD shown in the total available space or is that 4gb hidden and not allowed to be used with the total hard drive space? and thanks for the heads up on quality issues, ill look into that

I know they just released a new firmware upgrade for it, and I just received mine from FedEx. I won't be able to run tests on it 'til late tonight (after 10pm EST), but I'll post my experiences with it.

sounds good, thanks. can u test defragging the drive as well to see if there is any issue with that? and battery life perhaps? im curious if battery life really is worse with the hybrid drive

The 4GB is in the total hard drive space and it is not separated. The hard drive adapts to your use and automatically moves file to the 4GB SSD Portion of the Drive. The drive uses an algorithm called Seagate Adaptive Memory which moves the most frequently-accessed files to the NAND flash memory.

Take a look at the attached.

I noticed that a chip die was exposed without any heatsink.
    nearest to the wireless card.

will post a pic later after all drivers are installed.

I think I got the wrong screen size instead of getting 1920x1080
    I got 1600x900.
on the check out on RJTech it said 1920x1080 on my invoice.
Should I contact them about this?

I think I mentioned this a few pages back :) Yes it does have zoom features and two-finger scrolling. I haven't used a macbook *raises fist in the air*, so I cant speak to how well it works to their fabled touchpads. However unlike many other clevo touchpads this one does have the features you are looking for.

I would - if it says 1920x1080 on your invoice, then that is what you should have. I would not settle for a lower-resolution screen if I paid for a higher-res one.

I guess you are absolutely sure it is 1600x900? Maybe update the video drivers and see if somehow 1920x1080 is not showing up in the display options?

I remember one of my first laptops, a Dell Inspiron 5000, I had the screen resolution at 1024x768 for months before I figured out it was actually 1400x1050 after updating the drivers!

It's got to be a 1920x1080 screen with just a driver issue for the simple reason as this model isn't manufactured with a 1600x900 screen option.

Well I used the drivers off the CD that it came with.
Can you tell me what model LCD yours has.
    Use Everest ultimate under display/monitor
    I get this AU Optronics B156RW01 V0
    Monitor ID AUO10EE

And if its a driver please tell which one to use. ;)

Earlier in this thread it was mentioned that Clevo has a 1600x900 option that Sager isn't offering yet and as it was a barebones Clevo B5100M, not a Sager NP5125 that was purchased (if I'm not mistaken), then it is possible, though still unlikely.

I actually can't give you a screen model as we just shipped out the 1080p model we built for a customer this afternoon and I don't have another :( . For drivers, check out Sager's website, and if you still have issues give RJTech a call.

It's not just that Sager isn't offering it; this model is not in production at all.

Here are some pics with beginning of the build to the finish and
    idle temps.
one core spiked when the Intel gpu switched to the Nvidia gpu
    but quickly went back down.

It was fun putting it together. :D
    Well do again. :)

Also I don't know if that core next to the wireless card is the
south bridge but I think putting a heatsink would be better.

Thanks for the gpu-z screen shot. I'm disappointed they used the DDR3 instead of GDDR3. I have some people tell me they are the same and many others tell me they are different. Can someone clarify this?
Also, the BUS interface is not PCI-Express 16x @ 16x? (It shows 8x)

I am comparing it to this (credit to notebookcheck)

The screen shot was taken under idle maybe stressing the gpu will change it from 8x to 16x like speed step from Intel.

    Have to get some sleep.

now i'm torn between Sager NP5125 and Asus N53....
i trust sager to have better cooling (and battery life?)... but asus seems to have a better keyboard (with dedicated pgup/pgdw/home/end key) and stronger graphics....
really hope that notebookreview will review both of them, so that i can make a good decision...

No doubt N53 is a good laptop (seems from looks and config), but we have DOUBT on Asus to keep their promise. As per Asus (website), N53JQ should have Full HD option but you can not find this option in any resellers including XoticPC/GenTechPC/ExcalliberPC...etc

Unless you really want the supposed-to-be-excellent laptop speaker and wedge keyboard, You better go for NP5125 now. The fact that this laptop is about ~350g lighter and have slightly smaller dimension than N53 is a good trade-off for me for GT330m vs GT335m. ASUS have been delaying N53 (used to be called N63) since March/April. With the very late shipment of the early version in late August/early September, it'll be a long wait for full HD option.

GT330m vs GT335m maybe only differs by 1-4fps in practical gaming.

Nice video review Xotic! I was really curious about the screen quality for the FHD option on this laptop. I currently own an IFL90 that I got from Xotic 2-3 years ago which has been a VERY solid, quiet, cool running machine. Only problem is the 1440x900 LCD screen is absolutely horrible for graphics work. This Sager looks to be a few steps up in screen quality which is exactly what I'm looking for. It looks just about on par with an Envy 15 but without all the heat issues/bloatware of an Envy.

I'm also getting this laptop for my ASUS A8Js replacement. Seeing how most recent laptops' screen resolution go down to 1366x768 really irks me up. It's really hard to get a middle-high performance laptop with high resolution screen nowadays.

Lots of those are reliable OS. I recently switched from XP over to a Linux distro (Ubuntu 10.04) and am so happy I can't describe it. OpenOffice is a great replacement for MS office. I would recommend going to UBUNTU - World Forum of Civil Society Networks and downloading the OS. The forums are excellent for any help you need. The OS has the option of working at the command line or using a very user friendly GUI. It is very intuitive and a great way to expore non windows OS's. Hope this helps.

Jesus, that was fast. I guess this gives me reason to cool my jets and wait a couple more weeks for more Asus N53 info. I was uber tempted to order one of the NP5125's tonight, though! :(

Speaking of the Asus N53 .. anyone have any news on the N53JF or JN? The JF has the GT425 and the JN has the GT335. I wonder which one will be better.

He means that the lower resolution ONLY applies to gaming and is useless in screens larger than 15" as there's no screen real estate to work with.
