Very very easy.
Yes rolling with the new tray icon that shows the information. You have to enable it from one of the menus but it's there.
You can just download the driver from nvidia and then just add the entries under the headings that are said. I didn't find the entries it is said to replace under the proper heading so just added them under the headings and it worked fine.

In all sites i dont see any information about the touch pad be texturized, texts and midias, nothing.
Really is texturized? =(
Damn, i'm thinking that i done a bad purchase.
edit...
This vaio:
or
I hated this touchpad, is really imprecise and uncomfortably.
The NP5125 is something like?

You can be assured if there is any fix/update that is done, Sager will complete it. We have forwarded this to Sager Engineers and they will review it further. If any update is available Sager will be the party releasing it. When Sager provides a update they provide it to everybody. -
Has anyone had issues with heat yet? I just installed Office off a USB drive and the fan kicked in pretty heavily for some reason. Not sure why the fan would even need to kick on for that.
-
@brunotacca:
As for the touchpad, I think it's "grainy", rather than having a uniform texture as shown in that picture. In any case, it was pretty accurate the few times I actually did use it. I by far prefer a mouse though. -

Sager Engineering has responded back and stated:

so the updated drivers do work? I personally followed the instructions on a previous post obout editing the verde INF file. Worked great 2 copy pastes and it installed and i can switch back and forth from dedicated and itegrated at will. THe new Nvidia contorls let you turn on the dedicated all the time.

I don't personally have a NP5125 to try it on right now since they all have shipped, but Sager has confirmed the 258.96 WHQL on nVIDIA's website works fine with the testing they have done.

Hey Guys,
I received my NP5125 from DarkPCs about a week ago and I'm really happy with it. I've been playing Starcraft 2 with high settings on full HD res and getting about 30-40 fps. That was with the Sager drivers supplied on the installation disk.
I'm trying out the Verde driver mod right now. I'll then post FPS from SC2 if anyone is interested.
On another note,
Trying to dual boot 7 and ubuntu. I use WUBI, booted into ubuntu with no problems, then tried to install the drivers that ubuntu prompted me to. I was at the time unaware of the driver issues and now when I boot into ubuntu my dGPU light goes on and the computer locks up. Guessing I'm going to have to reinstall linux. Any ideas? -
On an unrelated note: the laptop is better looking than I thought. So far the screen looks sick (1080p) and the system seems fast as hell. My only caveat thus far is the touchpad texture out of the box. I can see it getting better with use, and it's not a MAJOR annoyance, but I prefer a smoother pad. Anyways, it's definitely not a dealbreaker. So far ... tech boners all over the place. I'll have a full review up sometime this week. It'll take a few days since there's a lot of people in town to party so the next few nights will be ragers.
Also .. what's the dGPU popup thing about? -
and got prompted with 2 video cards detected.
The first attempt was just installing the nvidia driver but X failed to start.
Then I justed installed the intel video driver and X loaded fine.
I guess Linux has issues with two different cards running at the same time. -
At this part: under [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.1], you will see it already has
%NVIDIA_DEV.0A29.04% = Section044, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_0A29&SUBSYS_71101558
That entry is under [NVIDIA_SetA_Devices.NTamd64.6.0] only. Replacing the line there doesnt seem to work. What did you do?
thanks -

Just an update, guys - my NP5125 review has been submitted but we have a backlog of reviews right now; both the NP5125 and the NP8850 review are in the queue. Hopefully later this week . . .

I am going to assume than it is just an oversight on nVIDIAs part that it isn't included... Which seems odd being the B1500M was one of their Optimus machines at their booth in CES2010.

Sager has commented back that their eval unit they have of the 5125 the 258.96 worked but on production models it does not. It does work on the 7110, just not the 5125 production model. Sager stated:
-
Thanks Justin. Also I can confirm after looking at my Intel driver it was rolled back to an earlier version after a Windows Update.
-
All right....I was inches from pulling the trigger and ordering one of these.
But, then I got to the end of this thread and came across this video driver issue.
Just to make sure that I understand:
1. NP5125 owners cannot update the drivers for their video card directly from nVidia? They must wait for Clevo/Sager to release the driver, and Clevo/Sager are several months behind in completing this task.
2. There is a work around that the user can do that will make it work, but it looks like they may have to do it each time the driver is updated to keep it working.
Is this a problem that will likely be fixed by nVidia in the future? i.e. the 5125 somehow didn't make it onto their list, but will be added later, and in the future owners will be able to update directly from nVidia.
No offense to anyone, but this is my first encounter with Clevo/Sager. They may be fine companies and make fine machines, but they are obviously smaller than the major manufacturers. I don't want to get into the situation a few years down the road where I need an update...only to find out that either the company has folded or, due to limited resources, they have stopped supporting this machine.
I'm not really a gamer, so I don't mind not always having the latest and greatest, super optimized driver. But I don't want Windows to indicate that an update is available, prompt me to install it, and then repeatedly fail. Being dependent on a small/smallish company, rather than the manufacturer for driver updates makes me a little uncomfortable.
I was primarily drawn to the 5125 for the screen (1080p), battery life (with bigger battery), and size/weight. I have an ancient, but until recently reliable, Asus z71v that has been awesome (though heavy and with crappy battery life). This thing is years old and has a 1080 screen! I figured that I could find a new laptop that would have the latest processors, be lighter, and have better battery life. I never considered that finding a 1080 screen would be the sticking point for so many machines. I just can't go down from there...how is it that this old warhorse has a 1080 screen and so many of these so called premium laptops only come with 768 screens?
I really, really, really, really wanted the 15" Asus Bamboo....Light, Sexy (to me), and long battery life....but I just can't get over the fact that I'd be downgrading on the screen.
So, do I really need to worry about this driver issue? I can follow directions and get through a relatively simple work around, but it seems silly to spend $1000+ for a computer that I already know has problems.
Help.
Thanks

Juano11: I believe this is a problem for all laptops.
When I purchased a Dell M1530 with Nvidia 8600M GT, Dell would only sparingly release drivers that were not the latest from Nvidia. In order to get newer drivers (which usually wasn't worth the hassle) I used laptopvideo2go to get modded inf files.
Also, manufacturers like Dell don't properly cool their laptops, so performance will be throttled up and down while you're playing games (at least for my m1530). It's incredibly annoying. I don't believe Asus computers are best known for decent cooling either. The only brand I've seen that gets a decent rating on cooling is Clevo. -
Sager has been around for ever and I doubt very highly Clevo is going anywhere anytime soon.
To add to the response above... Cooling on this laptop is crazy. Coming from mainly Dell, I had never imagined that a laptop could run so cool so quietly. I have pushed this thing a little bit, I will try some Crysis some day and see what I can get out of it... -
Order this computer. It seems that it is just a flaw in the driver that the NP5125 is not included at the moment. But either way between there being a possible fix from Nvidia directly, you can easily mod the INF file to include the new driver. I was wary at first being that i have little experience coding but it is quite literally copy and paste for 2 sections. Very simple to do and im now running the up to date driver.
As far as cooling goes....One thing not mentioned here so far is that it needs air. If you block the vent it will get warm. Not uncomfortable, but bearable. If you give it even the slightest air flow however it cools great. SO this laptop is very dependent on not blocking the fan on the left underside of the laptop. Thats my experience with it anyway. I love how great the cooling is.
PS-invest in a cooling fan base and even under load i never even feel the vent get warmer than my breath. -
Just ordered the NP5125 over the weekend from XoticPC. Looks like there's a delay in manufacturing until the 25th.
-
Can anyone suggest a really good cooler for this laptop? I've been researching USB 3.0 enclosures/laptops/mice since the beginning of this summer and I can't stand the thought of going on another research spree. Thanks

Some of the better ones on the market are from Zalman. NC1000/NC2000.

Laptop coolers are hit and miss from what I read, some ppl say they are a waste of money for the 1-2 degree difference and other say they're a best buy and help cooling a lot, so don't expect miracles when you buy one
It might work great, or it might be a nice paperweight hopefully they will work great with these laptops. -
-
I would buy Zalman, if you wanna buy one, then buy something good, don't be cheap
I'm probably gonna buy nc2000 for my 17'' to test it out, worst case scenario it will go to classifieds. -
The biggest thing about an effective laptop cooler is checking if the fans on the cooler actually align with vents on your laptop so therein actually circulation. If you can, buy it at a store where you can check the vent alignment with your laptop. Doesn't have to be exact but one fan in middle won't help a venting the far left where gpu is
-
Check the flow direction of the cooler and the laptop. Don't want them fighting
each other.

How much time the battery will probably decrease at a i5 to i7 upgrade with the same conditions?
Thanks. -

Quick first impression!
It is simple looking notebook. Very .. my taste! The black color will stand out among all the macbooks at my campus. The build quality is excellent, I think. I was worried because of Charle's preview video. The keyboard does not rattle when I type. It feels very nice and I like the sound of it. There is barely any chassis flex. The lid however does flex with pressure. The palm rest is plastic but looks like brushed metal. The touchpad is strange. Feels grainy. The touch keys are loud and they wiggle a little. The VGA button feels mushy. ewglossybezel!
Okay, time to turn it on now. -
PS. I of course lied about the money.. But, I would love to get either a video or picture to help hold me off until mine arrives!
PSS. Anybody here play DotA (Defender of the Ancients) Its a Warcraft III Map/Mod/Game thinggy. Mainly all I'm gonna be playing on the laptop with be that and Counter Strike: Source. Maybe a few other games, but mainly those. If someone that has received the laptop and plays those guys please give a quick review of how they run at what settings. Seeing as they are pretty old games, I'd assume they probably run perfect on max settings but then again who knows unless you try it out! Thanks [: -

I'm installing my OS now. I'll take pictures when I can. I think I see a group of dead pixels... A little angry right now.

I can't decide between getting this laptop and the np8690. I don't need all the raw power of the np8690 but I've played SC2 on a 230m, which isn't too far from a 330m and I'm not blown away by it's performance. I'm also considering getting a np8662 but the prices on ebay seem a little too steep when I could get this one and a top of the line i5 for the same price as those with a core 2 duo. -
