It did? I didn't think Windows was that kind! Nice to know. :)
I have my updates set to automatic checks, but not for automatic installation. I've set it so that I can chose whether I want to install them or not. I've not really checked what it actually does. I rarely check the list of things that the fix or update has done. I guess I should really. I might be surprised.

Hmmm... I might have to try Driver Agent. You're right in that it's frustrating to have a program get a driver and install it from an unknown location for you. It would be nice to know where the program is getting it from, wouldn't it. If you find a good program, please let me know. Well... let us all know. :)

Wow nice man (assuming you're male here)! What driver are you using? I've hit 10107 @ 610/1525/945, and my upcoming T9800 might put me over the 11k mark.

But 620/1035/1550!? Whoa have you tested an hour on ATI Tool or Furmark? That's crazy high on a 9800GT's memory clock!

Well, hmm, yeah it's possible with a powerful processor. Not with a P9500 or lower.

I'm stable with those clocks, yeah. For some reason thought I crash instantly in any benchmark if I do even a touch over 620, i.e. 625.

I'm using official Nvidia, but only because I'm on windows 7. I don't really want to try unofficial drivers while running a Beta OS as my primary.

Oh and my temps never hit above 75 with my NC2000 going on full speed.

If only there was a way to lock the PCI bus... I'd overclock my processor too. I know it can hit 2.8 for a fact.

edit!: Ahhh! My mistakes, all post and sig will now be edited. The clock was 945, not 1035. 1035 was my crashed one that BSOD'd haha.

My bad =]. But yes, the 3dmark score is still the same, since that was the correct value it was tested with.

Come to think of it, I haven't overclocked yet. I hear the new nvidia drivers let you software oc, has anyone tried it yet?

What about processor? I think oc'ing my P9500 would be more beneficial than oc'ing my 9800M GT.

Nah, CPU overclock with give a great boost to your 3dmark06 score, but in-game you'll barely gain a couple of frames per second, whereas with the GPU OC you'll see a massive boost.

When i removed my eksternal keyboard from the usb-port, my m860 keyboard got totally ed up. Is there a way to fix it? Reboot didnt solve.

EDIT: Never mind. Solved it. When I used the eksternal keyboard, I put on num lock. Apparently that stayed on for the m860 keyboard when I took it out of the port.

    very simple. :)

    - remove the heatsink/pipe
    - swap CPUs
    - re-apply thermal compound
    - re-secure the heatsink/pipe

Pretty much this. The only thing to note is that the user and service manuals are both incorrect on the location of the fan. Each depicts the fan as being attached to the bay cover, when it's actually fastened directly into the bay, in front of the heatsink; I found this out when adding a 2GB stick of RAM to my system. Thus you'll have to unscrew the fan to give the heatsink enough clearance to come out completely. It really is a ten minute process, and if anyone is looking to change out their processor in the future, feel free to contact me if you need a walkthrough. This was my first CPU installation, and it couldn't have been any easier.

I did update to the very recent 1.01.12 BIOS and 1.00.10 kb/ec first, which requires the 1.00.08 BIOS and kbc/ec updates to be run first. If anyone wants instructions on how to do these, I'll give them to you, 100% guaranteed to work safely. The .12 BIOS fixes the whining sound!

    1. $365 for a QS model, which I got from someone who knows someone. The price will be hard to match. Maxes at 60C after over an hour of Orthos, only two degrees higher than my P8600. It's an awesome chip. Being a final spec chip, it's recognized by Windows and all harware monitoring software. I play lots of RTS, and I needed to eliminate the bottleneck I was feeling from the 2.4Ghz. Hell, I bought it out of anticipation for Dawn Of War II mainly.

    2. I KNOW RIGHT!? lol, I'll get around to it one of these days man. I'm waiting for the new Seagate 500GB 7200RPM drives to come out, which should be within the next month or so. This clunky old Fujitsu drive is killing me dude.

EDIT: I just found out that two BIOS updates have been issued recently:

    1. System BIOS version 1.01.12.
    2. Solve “some machines issue high pitch by AC power” issue.

    1. System BIOS version 1.01.13.
    2. Solve “system has high pitch problem by DC power” issue.

I do have a USB bootable, non-ISO version of .13, but I need to verify a few things before I'll flash it. The latest KBC/EC is the 1.00.10 though, so it should be safe to go with.

A CPU overclock would give me more than just a few more fps in supreme commander right? I'm pretty sure my CPU is the bottleneck in that game.

Wouldn't a 500GB 7200 drive run pretty hot?Without my cooler, my dive runs up to the high 50's about an hour or so after startup.

Kevin_jack, could you pm me that guide for flashing BIOS? I've stayed away from BIOS because I've seen no reason update it till now; that CPU whine is getting annoying.

An update on the whole Windows 7 thing:

Battery life is overall improved on the M860TU. I'm getting about 2.7 hours with power saver now, without undervolting my processor with RMClock. I should be able to hit 3 hours with a good undervolt.

Also, sleep mode doesn't seems to work. When I shut my lid my computer shuts off, and when I start up again it tells me that windows has recovered from a serious error.

    Hey all,

My Intel ICH9 version is currently 9.0.0.1011 (which I found out today when Windows told me that I needed to update to fix a problem... and then told me when I tried to update that its update was actually older than the aforementioned version!)

Is the above ICH9 version the latest? Or am I behind?

I did an upgrade of the bios in stages from .06S all the way up to .13 successfully. However, it appears to me that the CPU whinning has actually gotten louder. Is it possible to downgrade a BIOS update? It appears Kevin_Jack had no more CPU whinning on Bios update .12 and I'd like to try that one out.

The multipliers will only ever be unlocked if you have an extreme edition processor (one starting with an x or qx) otherwise they are locked on the processor anyway, so even with an unlocked bios, you can't change them.

So the total time took about 17 minutes to do the same stuff I'd do within 20-25 minutes. Hmmm, I'll have to think about it and based on the price I could possibly get the T9800 for, then I'd consider it.

    Thanks for the benchmark Kevin_jack.

I finally updated to the official nvidia notebook drivers, but restarting after the installation took 15 minutes. This has never happened with any of my other driver installations. Has this happened to anyone else?

Well, I've got myself my new Clevo M860TU a couple of days back, and after some loooong nights i've finally comfortable with the lappy now :)

I did some oc on the 9800M GT and ended up with these results:

Temps are really good actually with my zalman nc-1000, 86 degrees as max isn't so bad for a 620/930/1550 clock!

What do you mean Clevo M860tu Overclocked edition?
    Is your CPU overclocked?
If so let me know how you did this?
    Through multiplier or Setfsb?
I have the X9100 but have yet to find a way to OC. If you have a BIOS that supports OCing please let me know. I am Extremely interested.

I'm sorry if anyone misunderstood my signature there. The meaning of "Overclocked Edition" is just that the 9800M GT card is Oc'ed =) Nothing more..

But I'm also very interested in Oc'ing the M860TU's CPU, it's just to bad that the developers of SetFSB have said that there's going to be no support of the PM45 chipset. So I'll guess we have to wait a little longer to see if anything happens...

So, I've had my lappy since sept last year been using it daily for everything you can imagine;Gaming, Vid editing,Hosting servers,Photoshop, School ectra ectra.

Anyway I wanted to say I'm still inlove with my laptop, and I'm still blown away at the sheer power packed into a 15" lappy, absolutly no buyers remorse what so ever.

Only gripe I have is that the place where I rest my palm started to leave a mark, but I covered it up with some razer stickers that I got with my mouse, they look like they came with the laptop so its no biggy :p

In the near future I want to upgrade the CPU, so I was wondering do the mobile Q's that are out now fit on the P socket? or are they designed for a entire new socket/mobo ?
