Well not just all good, the firewire connection doesn't seem to work right  Both external soundcards are not working the way they should do.
I'm trying to go around it with an expresscard/firewire but have to order that first.

    Help is appreciated :D

firstly who is they? where did you get your laptop from. when you say they forgot the ram do you mean you ordered 4gb but only got 2gb

what does the firewire do and what are you trying to connect to it.

and what 2 external soundcards have you got and how are you plugging it in before you turn the laptop on.

Well kids I just placed my order yesterday, so hopefully within a week I will have her.
I dealt with Jeffrey Darabaner from Eurocom and he was awesome. Always quick to answer e-mails and quick to give me new quotes everytime I changed something. They were easy to work with and gave me a decent discount. Plus they are the only ones that you can order these specs and pay well under 5G's.
Mwahahaha I can't wait for this Beast to get here.

Hi MrDJ, thanks for the reply!
They= xxodd reseller in the Netherlands, the importer here is xs2 europe, and they forgot to put in the extra 2GB.
I connecting an rme fireface 800 to the notebook for recording and a t.c. electronic desktop konnekt 6 for mixing at home, using a 4 to 6 pin cable.
For both soundcards playback just makes noise every now and then and recording doesn't seem to work at all(no sound coming in ). I tryed every possible latency setting and the latest drivers with no results. The soundcards are working fine on pc and fujitsu notebook for over 3 years now.
Next thing I want to try is using an expresscard/firewire, just to see if that will work.
BTW I'm using xp home and cakewalk sonar 6.

    Thanks in advance.

Does anyone else have a SSD in their m860tu/np8660?
If so how do You like it?
I went for the Intel x25-m best bang for buck from what I can see and no problems with multitasking or random reads/writes.

Yeah but I finally had it arrive today. There were a few delays along the way.

It's currently formatting the harddrives which takes ages. I have 4 seperate partions on a 500 gig drive (for organizational purposes).

Hi all, the firewire chipset in the xxodd 860tu has written "JMB 380" on it(don't know about sager etc.). You can find information in the link below under JBM 38x. I hope someone can explain to me what it all means, it's a bit to technical for me :D

This is just a big shout-out to the guys at Kobalt Computers in the UK. They fixed the dead pixel on my screen (second time) and replaced it without fuss, and even managed to source a 1680x1050 matte screen, which I am far prefering over the glossy. I also bought the HSDPA modem, so I'll try that out shortly...

    Cheers guys!

Did they solve the whining noise?
I've emailed them, but they always take some time replying to me... maybe they don't love me anymore! :D

Haha! They go in bursts - sometimes it took a while to get a reply, then there were preiods where they would reply within minutes or hours of me emailing them... I'll check to see if mine still has a discernible whining noise tonight!

For me, the "whine" comes from the right side of the laptop, roughly where the 'Enter' key is. I do not know what causes it, but it sounds like an extremely high-pitched buzz; this will sound nerdy, but it's kind of like if your characters ears were buzzing after getting hit with a grenade/flashbang in a FPS game.... that was soo nerdy

I have a recording of it, I just don't know how to post it here

Hi all, after much research and deliberation on replacing my clunky old Dell Latitude D810 I've chosen this spectacular notebook, and can't wait to receive it in the post. Bought it from Novatech (UK company) with the following specs:

    Intel Core 2 Duo P9500 2.53GHz, 6MB Cache, 1066MHz
    4GB DDR3 1333MHz PC3-1066
    NVidia 9800M GTS
    320GB 7200rpm SATA HDD
[SATA Dual Format +/- DVD Writer

I got all this with 64 Bit Vista and Office for under £1500. Interestingly, Novatech seem to be offering this setup considerably cheaper than Kobalt (the Nexus).

Just wondering how people are dealing with HDD heat as this was an issue for some ...

Hey guys, my 'y' key just popped out of the keyboard and now I have to press the little black button thing beneath it to type; how can I get it back in, I've been trying with no luck so far.

EDIT: never mind. I got it back in but one of the tabs that are supposed to keep it there broke; this might be a problem in the future, does anyone know where I can get replacement keys if I need them?

Finally typing on my m860tu :D

Must say that the keyboard has a pretty special sound...
Also it get very hot around the vent, but mine also came with the black foil covering the vents. Should that be removed or stay?

Also experiencing massive screentearing in dead space everything maxed v-sync off.

leaving V-Sync off will do that.

Usually you would only leave V-Sync off if you are benchmarking.

You want to enable to for a more smooth (less tear) experience. ;)

I got a call yesterday that this beauty will be delivered today:

    1 Sager NP8660 - Gaming Laptop
    15.4" WSXGA+ (1680 x 1050) Glossy LCD
    nVIDIA GeForce 9800M GTS w/512MB GDDR3
    Intel® Core™2 Duo P9500 2.53GHz Processor w/6MB L2 Cache (25W) - 1066MHz FSB
    4GB (2 SODIMMS) DDR3/1066 Dual Channel Memory
320GB SATA II 3GB/s 7,200 RPM Hard Drive (16MB Cache Buffer)
Combo Dual Layer DVD +/-R/RW CD-R/RW Drive w/Softwares
    Built-in Intel® PRO/Wireless 5300 802.11a/g/n
    Windows Vista Premium - (64-Bit installed - 64 and 32-bit CD included)

I downloaded the "latest" (though some seemed a bit dated) from Sager's website. I also downloaded the most recent video drivers from Laptopvideo2go (180.84).

    Just a few questions:

    1) Is anyone experiencing any difficulties/issues with the latest video drivers (180.84)? If so, is there a recommended version for this machine?

    2) Any other drivers/upates I should be looking for?

    Thanks!

I recommend if you leave VSync ON, enable Triple Buffering too.

That will give you better performance in VS ON situations.

Yes I had problems with the 180.x drivers, my recommendation is to download from the Sager site (I think they're 176.x)
