hahaha you just hadto remind me of that

thing is, i've also ran the ati tool and cinebench and 72c was the max temp of both cards.
its just the occt that gets 92c. nothing else gets anywhere near it.
i've also not seen a screen cap of your occt results
i think your at the wind up -
it peaked at 72 then dropped a degree and didnt go any higher so i just ended it there, i did run it for 20 minutes at drakes request after still stayed the same -

Can some of you Comanche Sli owners give me some feedback on the following, my Dell/Hell experience looks like it could be coming to an end with a forced refund as they won`t replace my faulty M1730 because they said they have no more machines in my spec and they won`t upgrade it to anything else.
1. Whats the reliablity been like on the Comanche Sli, any known issues ?
2. Whats rhe screen quality like compared to an M1730 with the WUXGA ?
3. How quiet is the machine, do the fans only come on when required rather than being on all of the time ?
4. Any other feedback you can give will be appreciated as i`m now comparing various laptops and deals for my next machine. -
The fans run at low speed normally, you can switch them to high speed by pressing fn + 1 and also switch back to auto in like manner. The machines run quiet, no problems with my 9280. They are cool, the screen is amazing and does not produce much glare once brightness is set to high. If you're sitting in front of it and not any distance away from it you won't notice any glare. Reliability.... if you have a problem with the video cards, as long as it be under warranty, it'll get replaced, very hassle free. Just make sure it isn't caused by liquid damage >.>
If you live in the US, I think shipping would be free with Xotic PC, and they have instant 3% discounts (shipping inclusive) if you pay with some form of direct cash (credit card, bank wire, etc). Actually I'm not sure how to pay and *not* get the discount... lol
But yeah you can't go wrong with one of these machines. Clevo will make you say "I'm never goin back!!!" -
Regarding my M980nu
There are no known issues with the m980nu i spoke to the MD of Kobalt only a couple of days ago and he confirmed they have had ZERO RMA'd
2) the screen is very good, i prefer mine to the high res one on the m17, i find it very hard to believe you will be dissapointed
3) My fans say on low 99% of the time, even under full load, even when overclocked the heat has never got high enough to kick the machine into high mode
4) I brought mine from Kobalt and tbh on the Uk market i cant see anything for the cash that will beat it, i saved £800 on a compared spec M17x and gained screen size, excellent CS, and an extra hdd bay -
^^^what Pman said.
there are about 5 of us ex AW customers that i know of now owning Kobalt laptops and in my honest opinion one of the best companys ive ever dealt with. the CS is the best you will get and you are treated like a person and not a number. -

Add me to that list in the imminent future also.

Any news about windows 7 drivers for the M980NU?
I tried to read through the thread but it has way to many pages. I saw the bios update on the first page is that still the newest? -
at the moment yes it is, i have windows 7 running on mine with no problems, love it to bits
-
Thanks for all the replies and input on the Comanche Sli
If it had a backlit keyboard i wouldn`t even hesitate, if one was in the pipeline and it was easy to change over i wouldn`t even hesitate either. I like to use my laptop in a dimly lit room hence the need for a backlit keyboard, in laptop terms the Comanche Sli looks to be good value for money but its still a lot of money to spend when a key part of what you need won`t be on the machine if you know where i`m coming from, like most people i like to get it spot on from the start.
I know a backlit keyboard is neither here or their to some people, its a key thing for me really because of how i like to use my laptop in a particular type of low lighting. Its something i will have to think hard about, the excellent customer care ive heard of draws me towards Kobalt as well as it being a highly specced laptop. -
Maybe if you took off your helmet, Stig, you would better see your keys? I know this is a totally new concept for you, but try it...
And give my regards to Clarkson. -
^^^lmao
all the feedback from customers and prospective customers has been passed onto clevo so i would never say never.this doesnt mean its in the pipeline yet.
if they get enough feedback from OEM's then they might take action on it. -
This has probably already been asked and answered, but it's a difficult search query, so:
Can you turn off the various lights? It looks like it'd be quite annoying if you were, say, trying to watch a movie in a dark room. -
just looked through the user manual for more info and all i can find is this "LED Color Toggle (press to toggle flashing colors or single color)"
it doesnt say anything about turning them off. Pman will be able to give you a better idea. -
-
yes you can turn off the lights, press and hold the light rotate button and they go off
re a backlit keyboard
Cleveo already said no, but maybe in the refresh q3 2010 -
as far as the hard drive clicking, it's alright, there isn't clicking. I falsely attributed a noise my airconditioner vent was making with the new comp. hehe. -
-
That's the lightshow.exe right? I've seen sporatic times where it doesn't startup right or Win7 reports it as not responding or degrading startup performance. Win7 could be something to do with it. I've seen the same messages in the performance log for Hotkey.exe as well.
-
Yeah, had issues with my hotkeys working or not working as well. Didn't work for a long time, suddenly started working again

Commanche SLI ordered. They're even organising to have my parts collected from me, rather than me organising the parts getting to them.
So far Kobalt - HIGHLY recommended. They've been great every step so far -
congrats Alex and almost welcome to the kobalt family.

I spoke to Andrew today regarding a Comanche Sli, i`m going ahead and buying one. At the moment i`m just waiting on a refund for my M1730 from the re-seller so i just want to make sure i have that first as i don`t want to leave myself short. When thats in place i`ll be ringing Andrew to order the spec ive chosen.
I have to say it was a refreshing change to speak to someone that understands a customer and comes across as very pleasent and helpful, Andrew should contract himself out to Dell/Hell to retrain their customer service team and show them how to deal with a customer instead of having the usual Dell experience of "We have your money now so go away you mithering peasent"
I`ll just be glad when this Dell/Hell experience is over once and for all. -
Another converted the hell that is dell -
i tested it in sli mode, you are only testing 1 card there we also used different drivers ( i take it thats why it says g92 )
also my fps was up around 90 the whole test if i recall.
i wonder what temps you'd get in sli? -
Just wondering if anyone elses power brick makes a little electrical humming noise.
Maybe it always has but I just noticed mine doing it today and was freaked out to leave the house with it plugged in lest I return home to a smoldering hole in the ground. -
^^who did you get yours from. about a year ago we had the same sort of thing with a few bricks from the m860tu. it turned out to be some of the power bricks had a small fan in them and thats what the humming was. strange it depended where you bought it if you got a fan or not.
-
I bought it from Xotic. Tonight I'll check it out to see if there appears to be some sort of vent and inspect it more closely.
I was on my way out the door to work and heard it and traced it back to the brick and unplugged it. Didnt have much time to really poke around. -
Mine definately doesnt and has no fan.
-
No noise or fan on my two bricks. One for travel, one for home.
-
One thing i wouldn`t mind knowing, when you order a Comanche Sli does it come free of bloatware, i.e no trial software ?
-
mine had none on it, just a vista install
-
When I ordered from PowerNotebooks I was told it would be only OS and drivers. I ordered though without an OS as I already had my OS.
-
Thread dead?
I got the new windows 7 drivers for the hotkey and they seem to be working well. Realtek audio still skips or whatever.
Ok here's a really weird thing, I noticed 2 pieces of junk or whatever sitting at the bottom in between the glossy screen surface and the internal LCD and on of them is poking up because I can see its silhouette in the task bar. Is there anyway to clean that out and how the hell could anything get in there? I don't live in a dirty environment by any means. I don't think they were there when I first got it though because I've been looking at this screen every day since it came out from Sager and just now noticed it. -
That's really odd about the LCD and I don't know about getting in there or not. I would check with your resller as maybe it's a defect in your LCD that you could get replaced? -
I tried the new drivers and have once again lost my hotkeys GRRRRR!
-
