yea i agree in that Depot
i am sorry
personally i wouldn't be surprised if it was a bios issue because the M17x BIOS is built off another mobo's
its in PBE and in the BIOS extract the .exe and look @ the info document and it states it there .... i can't remember the name of it

So how many times since you got your M17x has your support been met with an over night technician at your house?
-
But then we have things like a larger screen and an extra Hard drive caddy, not to mention our lighting in my opinion is equal -
most of those are small things but while we are @ it
i needed them 1 time due to my fan being bunk
they refused to overnight it to me ... stupid people ...
any way other then that its the best laptop i have ever owned. -
you sound like a typical blinded aw fan to me mate,
- rep
out of all those options only the better battery is actually important, the rest is 100% cosmetic
the fact you needed it repaired so fast is bad -
blinded ?
im just stateing features you don't have
if anything ..... -
and as for trolling, no....its the clevo forum and i think that Aw take the P*** out of people left right and center, bear in mind I have owned 4 AW machines and until dell meddled with them they were very good
now i cant even speak to someone who speaks bloody english -
i do agree there dell screwed us over on that
i actually wanted the m98nu until the M17x came ouy ... im a sucker for lights n aluminum -
hehe shiny things
I have gone on record and said that i would 100% have considered the M17x i bear no ill will or preconceptions on any of thier equipment.
100% the thing that put me off was the $1200 price difference
if there was a price difference of $1200 in the USA can you say hand on heart you would have still got the AW? -
No I would of went m98nu or 8662 (I hate 15 inch laptops though)
I understand that's why u did it and it's wrong what they did IMO -
-
See each to their own I like the m98nu and was going to get it ..., I love some chiclet keyboards and for me bigger is better
-
Win7 weirdness continues... my BT won't stay on. I have to turn it on after every reboot or sleep. Still haven't managed to get the touch controls working either which is frustrating.
-
i has there been any word as to the cause/solution to the micro stuttering?
i have noticed it with crysis, not on the first 2 levels though, but the 3rd certainly judders along -
-
-
Note: you can use compatability for Vista service packs too. I would go with the basic vista compatability. Worked for me (Not on the 980NU though.) -I cancelled my order and am going for a new desktop, lol! Digital Storm BABY -
i havent noticed any problems with crysis, have you checked the drivers you are using?

Yes, but it's a to fit into a backpack
-
Also no word on a fix for the Sager NP9850 other than the original stuttering issue. This blows.
I'm also thinking of cancelling my order as it's going to be into Sept (maybe later before you receive a NP9850. I ordered in July so it will be 1-2 months I've been out that money and nothing to show for it.
I'd like to think it's worth it but beginning to doubt. -
I'll be honest... maybe it's just the games I play but I've never had a single hint of it. If you want one right now you can get it from RJTech (Clevo model that is).
-
well good luck with the new rig
-
have you noticed ?
i'm using the original drivers, and a qx9300 processor.
its not too bad, and certainly doesn't ruin the game but when it starts its annoying. -
There some one on his sig that got a guide on how to flash a bios. Can I have the link please. I think is time I update my GPU and system bios
-
I followed this guide to create a bootable flash, copied the files onto the stick, and ran it:
Linky -

i know its a bummer but the m980Nu when you get one is amazing, and for a laptop i am constantly amazed by what they can do nowadays
thinking back to the days when it was amazing to get anything above an 8mb card in a laptop lol -
iv just ordered mine off meshcomputers.com
im still confused about this computer because the people at meshcomputers are telling me all sorts of different things.
so i thought i would ask these questions
1 what is the max RAM a M980NU can hold?
2 can you get a second gtx280 and put it in yourself??
3 are all thr M980NU aluminated the same e.g
http://www.meshcomputers.com/default.aspx?PAGE=PRODUCTVIEWPAGE&USG=PRODUCT&ENT=PRODUCT&KEY=584743 (click on gallery) in where it seems to be a graphic
and then theres this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNqzi7YX-wY in where the colours cycle
4 and finally, is there only the one kind of the m980nu? or is there slight differences in them? like a m980nu-a, m980nu-b ect
i ask this because i think i might be getting a m980nu that isnt what i think it is and im expecting this all singing all dancing laptop and i dont want to be let down
thanks for any help -
I'm being as patient as I can. It would be nice to hear if there's any progress from Sager. -
Yes you can get a 2nd 280M and put it in but I don't think you will save much right now doing that.
I believe they are all the same shell with minor customizations by seller (Eurocom, Sager, Kobolt, etc.).
I don't have one yet (Sager... pre-order... ) but others have the Clevo M980NU from various sellers. They could tell you more about the differences. -
I think it's 12 gigs
-
well this is what mesh told me to them questions
ok in order of reply:
1) yes parts of the case are illuminated in blue as per the picture on the website.
2) no it only takes 4gb max
3) its sli ready but we only sell it with one graphics card.
Hope that answers all your queries!
Kind Regards -
No the chipset is confirmed to fit 8 gigs and IMO 12 will work as well .... But 12 or 16 will be the limit
-
just seems odd that they would sell the m980nu without the option to uprade past 4GB and when i ask they tell me i cant, can anyone definatly confirm that this ( http://www.meshcomputers.com/default.aspx?PAGE=PRODUCTVIEWPAGE&USG=PRODUCT&ENT=PRODUCT&KEY=584743) is no different to every other m980nu and im just being paranoid
-
the colours cycle red, green, yellow etc but the touchpad and quick launch keys are always purple. ( the vents, and logo on the back of the screen change)
-
Trust me it fits more then 4 to my understanding
Whoa!!!!!!!!!!!
That has a gtx 260m !!?!??!?!?! -

Windows 7 or Vista 64bit is required for memory configurations of >3GB. Other hardware or application limitations may further prevent the use of all installed memory.
For example, if you are only using a consumer OS like 64bit Vista or Windows 7, not VMWare or Server, you will only be able to address about 6.8GB regardless of how much you install (and regardless of what the vague Microsoft specs say...you really need to drill down into the White Papers to find the limitation, or just ask anyone that has more than 7GB installed to go into their Task Manager>Performance>Resource Monitor>Memory and read what is says about MB in Use and MB Available).
Further, the M980NU only has two memory slots, so with 4GB being the largest commercially available memory pieces you can only install 2x4GB = 8GB. -
-
they dont let you select 280 SLI???
very poor imo -
MESH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
sorry had to shout their.
they are just round the corner from me and thats where i got my first ever computer from and they were a total nightmare for replacing parts and a minimum of 30 minutes in a quee before you even spoke to someone.
not saying they are like that now but imo i wouldnt touch them with a barge pole.
i also cant understand why they have an option for a 260m instead of 2 280m cards. -
i must admit i cant remember actually singing thier praises
-
have any m980 users noticed a clicking sound from the hard drives.
at first it was 1 loud click every few mins, but its gettig louder and more frequent as it accesses data. i can't figure out which drive its from either.
hdtune reports no errors on any drive
i'm on a raid 0 setup, with 1 partition 1000gb and the other 500gb.
i disabled the 500gb drive in device driver and then rebooted, but the clicking was still there, does that mean its one of the 1000gb drive, or could the system still acces the 500gb drive ? -
no clicking on any of my 3 hdd's here
