Just buy a tube yourself and repaste. Takes 10 minutes, literally. All you need is the IC Diamond, 90% or greater isopropyl alcohol, paper towel, lint free q-tips if you really want to do a detailed job cleaning.

+1 for a very thorough review.
My fears about the heat and power consumption eventually turned out to be true however those idle temps are a little too heavy for my likingI currently sit at 34oC idle on my AW and do not see above 70oC at all + the battery would be no good for me either when I can get a solid 6 hours browsing and 2.5-3 at a push when intensive gaming. I am glad I made the right choice and didn't wait however having a quad core with double the Graphical performance both dedicated and integrated with a cooling system that small and effective is intriguing.
There is still no sign of this Clevo or Sager in the UK so I didn't really have much choice, this thing with a ULV and a backlit keyboard would certainly change my mind and go hand in hand with my 170 but I still believe this should have come with the 640M GT instead however with the performance output the kepler GPU gives which makes a mockery of the 5 seriesI probably will be buying the R2 version of this pray it arrive.

It's not the GPU that's the problem, it's the CPU. And it idles at 60C only because the fan never runs. GPU is always less than 80C even when CPU is at 90C. And even with the CPU hot, you don't feel it anywhere except at the exhaust. The keyboard and bottom are completely lukewarm if that.
In any case, looking forward to the Ivy Bridge dual cores to see what they can bring to the table.
In any case, just ran through some Diablo 3 Settings High, 1366x768, 80-100fps no problem. Didn't think there would be, but no worries whatsoever. Temps while playing were 76C CPU, 70C GPU. -
-
thanks very much... I really appreciate the info! -
u think 70% alcohol would be good, thats all i ahve with me right now -
70% will be fine, just higher % means less residue. I can find alcohol at 90%+ at my local drug store or grocer store for $1.50.

Hey HTWingNut can you do a deeper Diablo 3 review? and turn everything on and high? you know AA, Vsync. I'm a HUGE Diablo fan, being honest the main reason I bought this machine was Diablo 3
lol. GREAT to see those numbers and temps on Diablo 3 can't wait to get mine...

HTWingNut:
I'm not sure what Anandtech is doing different but they got a very different Cinebench score then what you reported.
Theirs:
Yours:
They did have the 3720QM chip in but I wouldn't have expected that to have such a large effect upon the scoring. Could Eurocon have done something in the BIOS that disabled the problem you saw with the GT650 and the 3610QM?? -
Yeah, if you turn off dedicated GPU, then I get same scores they do. It's the throttle issue. Not sure if they did something different in that Monster laptop with the BIOS. Their battery life is like 5.5 hours too.

Well... I got Amazon.com: 3M Privacy Filter for 11.6 Inch Widescreen Laptop (PF11.6W9): Electronics for the 19.96 price, seeing that it's easy to carry around and use outdoors, while I can leave it off when using it indoors without hassle. I don't want to deal with the air bubbles and all. I am concerned about the brightness, but it looks like other screens (like the one HT recommended) don't have much better max brightness either (230 for the default vs 200 from B116XW02, according to anantech's review)

Alright! Just got my Sager NP6110 in the mail yesterday. spent some time getting everything up and running. seems as though i got a different A/C adapter than HT did. Its still 120W but this one has a fan in it. Ill upload some picts later as I have to go to work soon.
Here are my specs, I7 3610qm, 750gb seagate momentus XT, 8gb 1600Mhz RAM, and intel wireless 6235. I have also already applied my IC Diamond thermal paste. -
Grats on your new laptop!
A fan in the AC adapter? That seems a bit odd, please post some pics! -
That is odd, if it works, can I have the name? I may want to purchase one in the near future.
-
Yes please post pics and possibly model number and manufacturer. Never heard of a laptop PSU with a fan.
-
I think I have one with a fan too
Here is a picture
-
If we could all ask, is there a way you could get a better photo an resize it?
That does look rather interesting though, who did you get your laptop through?
Does it have any sort of filter on it to keep junk from getting in there and messing it up? -
-
Mine is on post yet but I get it next monday 30.4-21.05Btw, who have installed to this Samsung 830? No problems with it?
-
Hi,
Do you think it would be possible to buy a spare back cover plate for this machine ? -
-
About PSU's do all SAGER/CLEVO laptops use the same size plug (that goes into the latop)?
And mine is coming in Tuesday with the matte screen installed I'll give you guys my impressions. Should be the same screen??? got it from Mythologic -
I got mine yesterday and I absolutely love it! The rubber texture on the lid, armrest and mousepad is perfect since it's scratch-, filth- and fingerprint-proof. I haven't been playing any games yet but the temps I get while buffering HD Youtube-videos and surfing are usually at 70 C (about 5% load), maximum 81 C, (often at 60 C the first hour), even after hours of use. The chassis isn't hot at all. I'm about to buy an external cooler pad or something, so far I've only been using a magazine.
The only cons are the very small arrowkeys of the keyboard and the fact that you can see the grid of pixels in the screen if you look closely. Other than that, the screen is all right, even though it's not matte it doesn't really reflect that much.
I bought it from PC-konsulten in Sweden, and here are the specs:

Alright a little update on the power supply reguarding the fan, looks like when the current goes above 100w the fan kicks in and it is actually quite loud.
On another note, Im here at idle and using my P3 Kill a watt im consuming around 30w. have not been able to get it any lower. Is that what everyone else is at? -
-
-
I managed to get mine down to 16-17W in Linux after disabling the nVidia card using acpi_call.
Semi-relatedly, I was hoping to download drivers from nVidia directly, but it doesn't look like they've made them for the 650M yet or are just aren't distributing them directly to consumers... I wonder if some kind of driver issue on the video side is contributing to the overall crazy system power usage. -

I don't want to derail the thread - but there was a misunderstanding, so let me make one more reply.
A couple weeks ago, I checked their page again and it appeared as if they started allowing customers to post reviews because there were two 1 star reviews... but I just checked their page again and look: delete me Reviews - Ratings at ResellerRatings - they have completely removed those two 1 star reviews and blocked their page again.
The BBB, on the other hand, is a non-profit organization whose primary goal seems to be protecting consumers. And although I am aware of the fact that they do not have a perfect track record, I still think they are one of the most credible sources for collecting information on a company's reliability. The BBB not only shows the total number of complaints, but also how many of those complaints were resolved. RR.com, on the other hand - doesn't keep a history of all the 1 star reviews that were either changed or removed, nor do they list whether or not real complaints were ever resolved, nor do they create a level playing field by which all companies can be fairly compared... since companies who pay RR.com have a huge advantage over companies that don't. SEE BLOW
Lastly, RR.com engages in many other shady practices... here are a couple more examples. In their terms, they state that unless a company pays them, they cannot ask customers to leave reviews on their RR.com page... and why is that? Why doesn't RR.com want free traffic? More traffic = more advertising revenue, right? Well maybe it's because they know that unless customers are encouraged to leave reviews, the overwhelming majority of reviews are left by people that want to write something negative... so by prohibiting non-paying companies from soliciting reviews, they are - in effect - ensuring that they have the lowest possible rating - which, in turn - gives companies a huge incentive to join RR.com's merchant program. Note: The large rating that RR.com displays on store pages is a 6 month rating, they bury a store's lifetime rating for some reason. Even with all of the recent nonsense reviews, our overall lifetime rating in 7 years is still 9.4/10. It use to be 9.7/10 before we left their program.
One of RR.com's biggest selling points for their merchant program is their exit survey (which you have to pay for, of course). They say that this is the best tool for offsetting negative reviews, since it helps to generate tons of reviews and they say that 95% of the reviews left through their survey are positive.
And one last example of how RR.com stacks the deck against non-paying companies... is by putting red warning signs on their pages - with a message that implies they don't resolve customer complaints. Little do people know, you have to actually pay RR.com in order to resolve complaints on their site, unlike the BBB. -
This is NOT the place nor the way to do that, you should create a thread for that. You are hijacking this thread with something that has nothing to do with a review...
-
Notebook Retailers aren't allowed to create threads, but a mod can if they wish.
-
P.S. My notebook is finally in "Hardware Build". /pretty excited -
MALIBAL, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
The notebook retailer usergroup cannot start threads. -
I'm ok if you guys say your piece here. I think any customer needs to check out all available resources before choosing a vendor and BBB and RR are both great resources. Of course if there's a contradiction between the two then users need to investigate further or look elsewhere. -
HT, when you get your matte screen can you do a video on how to install it? I'm thinking about getting a new one sometime but I don't want to mess anything up...
-
-
Anyone tried OC'ing your GPU yet? I'm wondering what the most viable Core/Mem/Shad will be for this model.
-
Yes, this machine supports SATA III
-
Update: so I was still unable to increase the GPU frequency. I tried EVGA preciesion X and MSI afterburner and even though i move the slider and GPUz shows the core and boost increase the sensor still shows the same 950Mhz. I was however able to get an addition 180Mhz out of the memory completely stable. -
Any spikes or slow down when gaming?
So you can only OC it to the turbo limit of the GPU? can anyone else try it. -
The max Turbo Table has to be changed via vBIOS mod...its on our ToDo list...
-
Working on it... today's been quite busy otherwise...
