You should cancel that order and get an 8800 GTX in it, believe me, it's worth it if you are gonna game.
-
I single 8700M GT does NOT cut it on a laptop like this, especially at WUXGA resolution.
You should also consider getting a RAID setup if you have spare cash.
A laptop like this deserves to have killer load times in games. -
Buy what you can afford. Never ever overspend. I would also recommend going with at least 1 8800M GTX 'IF' you can afford it. You can always add a 2nd 8800M GTX in later.

FL32539 good choice you will be happy with it let us know when you get it.

Found a Very nice little app. Called GPU-Z, it works like CPU-Z. Very nice..added to front page also!
-
Wu Jen,
You just found that? Sorry dude I have been using it for a while. There is an recent update to it as well. -
I see you've been hoarding the information.
-
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
Hmmm, hoarding and gloating...dude, what a combination
-
Sorry man I can't help it. I don't think about things until someone asks. But I got a question does it show SLI enabled on yours? I know the oolder version doesn't on mine but I have been to lazy to grab the new one.
-
-
Yes, it shows SLI enabled for my system. I like that fact that it shows the BIOS for your cards as well. Might be a good idea for everyone to post their BIOS version and card type so that we can get an idea of new vs old. Unless someone knows a site that lists each graphics card and the most current BIOS version for it?
Mine says 2 GPU's enabled for SLI.

Here is the information for my single card. with the software. Thanks.

I'm thinking about getting a backpack for my D901C. I'm leaning towards the Booq or Tom Bihn. Any thoughts?
Thanks again for all the help. -
I am leaning towards the Booq
The D901C measures...
11.75" (depth) x 15.5" (width) x 2.35" (height)
The Boa.XL says it has inside dimensions of
12.5" (depth) x 15.75" (width) x 2" (height)
.25" clearance on the width, that is ok right? and 2" height vs 2.35" for the actual laptop?
The Python XL is way too big for me, at 19" exterior width.
I cant seem to find a Tom Binh bag that is big enough.
Going to do a bit more research. definitely leaning towards the Boa.XL but it is expensive, although probably worth it.
I will be bringing it back and forth to work as well as customer's homes, heh. -
I was looking at the Python and the Brain bag. The brain bag requires a brain cell too. I was looking at the vertical. I've emailed both companies with the model and dimensions and am hoping to hear something tomorrow.
-
I ordered the Mobile Edge Pack from Amazon for about $56 and it actually fit. I didn't want to have to worry about anyone getting anything out of my pack so this one can't open unless you take it off.
-
I've been using the Targus XL 17" it works great with tons of room left over.
-
Here's Booq's response to my email:
"Thank you for your email. Your laptop is one of the largest on the market, so we have limited options. We can suggest the Python XL backpack, which you can view here: http://www.booqbags.com/s.nl/it.A/id.107/.f?sc=11&category=-111
We also have a large compact case, but it may be too snug for your laptop. You may want to try it though - Boa slimcase XXL : http://www.booqbags.com/s.nl/it.A/id.295/.f?sc=13&category=-113
Both of these bags are made of the highest quality materials, and have a 5 year warranty. If you need assistance with your order, please call or email us."
The more I look at Booq the more I think I'd look like a Mutant Ninja Turtle.
Still undecided but hey still have the rest of the week to make a decision.
Ended up getting the Super Ego, horizontal brain cell and snake charmer from Tom Bihn. Outstanding bag and products. Highly recommend them.
From Tom Bihn, I'm looking at the Empire Builder or Brain Bag. I'd also pick up the 2XL Brain Cell. -
I use the Targus XL myself and it has plenty of room for everything. It is one of the better you can pick up for a reasonable price and check out up front. I have been using this bag bag for two years now. (actually my second one) They hold up well to lots of abuse as well.

So far the 5.71.22.45.17 appears to be the newest 7950GTX Bios. I don't know how much of a difference from .16 to .17 is though Using NVFlash you can clone a Bios and flash it to your Video Card. But for such a small change I personally wouldn't sweat it.
-
I know this is an old topic, but is there a fix/workaround for the audio hiss issues present in the D901C? I've tried multiple drivers and headphones, and no matter what I do I always get that constant noise in the background!
-
Btw, what drivers are you running now? I had been running 169.17 for quite a while but had several problems such as COD4's shadow flicker and WinDVD having tearing images! I'm back to 94.22 as of now and WinDVD is working fine. Performance in games seems not as good but I'd probably have to do more thorough testing + check fps.
And another thing, the front page you updated says 169.25 is a working SLI driver for XP but I seem to be only able to find it as a Vista driver on LV2G. Please advise -

If you find that it only occurs at some locations and not others I would recommend getting a HUM X Ground Loop Eliminator. -
Hey Donald,
The problem still persists even if I unplug the computer and run it off battery power, so I don't think it's a ground loop issue (I could be wrong). -
Donald@Paladin44 Retired
You are correct...if it happens on battery it isn't a Ground Loop problem.
Have you contacted your vendor's tech support for help with this issue? -
Yeah I sent you guys an email a few days ago, but since it's the holiday season I'm sure it will take some time for a response. Happy Holidays by the way, and thanks for your reply!

We answer all of our [email protected] email within 1 business day. If you have not received a reply it probably ended up in the spam filter (we get thousands of spam everyday).
I apologize for this, but would recommend either calling the toll free number for 24/7 tech support (1-877-774-1911), or try sending another email, or email me directly so I can pass it on to the technicians.
Too bad we can't identify who you are from your forum name. -
I'll try and keep this short which means I'll be leaving out a lot of details on how I got to what I'm going to post. Bottom line is that the instructions Wu Jen posted for installing video drivers does not work on my 9260 with dual 7950 gtx's in SLI. Even though I followed the instructions to the letter I STILL got a black screen after installing the drivers for the second video card at step 12 which means a force power down then uninstall in safe mode to recover. So here is my modified version of the same thing Wu Jen posted (from Grey728) that finally worked for me. After months of trying various methods and versions,
I finally got version 169.28 from laptopvideo2go.com installed to replace the 94.22 drivers I started with.
Here's the info. Hope someone else can use it too:
1. Download desired driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com (go into the forums for the absolute latest)
2. Download .inf file that comes with driver.
3. Unzip driver into a folder.
4. Move .inf file into driver folder. This WILL overwrite a file.
5. Uninstall the nVidia drivers from the control panel and then reboot (this step
may already be done if the first method from Wu Jen on page 1 was tried first and failed)
6. When the system comes back up from reboot CANCEL BOTH "found new hardware wizards
7. disable antivirus software
8. unload/exit junk in systray
9. Run the device manager either by right-clicking on
my computer then selecting properties->hardware tab-> Device manager button
OR via Start->Control Panel ->administrative Tools-> Computer Management ->
device manager.
10. THIS STEP IS REALLY IMPORTANT:
pick the video controller named "video controller (vga compatible)"
DO NOT choose the "3D Video controller".
11. Right click on it and select Update driver
a. Select No, Not at this time, then nextb. select Install from a list or specific location (advanced), then nextc. select Don't search, I will choose the driver to install, then next
d. scroll down and select display adapters then next
e. Press "have disk" button then Browse button and in the locate file box go to the folder where you placed the nvidia files and the INF file then press open, OK, and finally the next button.
f. Press "continue anyway" on the next pop-up box.
If everything goes right the driver for this one vga compatable device will be installed.
g. REBOOT.
12. When the system comes back up CANCEL the "found new Hardware" wizard then run the device manager
13. Now right click on the 3D Video controller Item under the Display adapters and select Update driver.
14. Follow the steps in step 11 for this video card.
The drivers should now be installed for both cards BUT SLI will NOT be available in the control panel yet.
15. THIS STEP IS REALLY IMPORTANT:
Now go back to the folder where you unzipped the files and placed the INF file in steps 2-5 above.
Run the setup.exe program and re-install the video drivers. Be sure to click "continue anyway" to both warnings about the drivers not being WHQL certified.
Reboot when asked to.
16. Step 15 adds/corrects an entry to the nVidia control panel so you can enable SLI mode. So bring up the nVidia control panel and go to the line item under the 3D Settings called "Set SLI configuration and turn it on".
============
Well it still remains to be seen how these drivers work out compared to the 94.22 drivers. They benchmark about the same but I'm hoping they are more stable (my reason for updating is I'm sick to death of the bsods from 94.22)
-
Hi, I've downloaded for fun GPU-Z as suggested by WuJen.
This little problem is suppose to detect if you have SLi or not. I have SLi but is says that SLi is disables. Nevertheless, in the Control Panel I have it enabled and when I do 3DMark06 it I get around 10600 OC'd. Also when I enable the SLi bars it shows perfectely while running a game.
Well, I wouldn't care so much if it detects or not, but the fact is that performance in COD4 leaves much to be desired. Yes I can run at 1900x1200 but I'm not impressed. I get huge fluctuations on FPS between 30 and 60 FPS, most often is in the 40's at 1400x1050. Also game play is not smooth as sometimes it hangs for a few microseconds and proceed. At 1900x1200 the system hangs arbitrarly when running with all settings maxed out.
I can see both SLi bars running so I suppose it is SLi.
Accordind to CPUZ the BIOS version of each card is:
Card1) 60.84.5B.00.11
Card2) 60.84.5B.00.B2
I have 2x8700M SLi, 4MB RAM, Q6600 CPU and I'm running Vista x64. Also my drivers are 169.17 from laptopvideo2go.
Also I have applied all the Vista patches suggedted by NVIDIA and have Vista SP1 beta installed.
Any ideas to put it running smoothly?

I'm hoping to hear something in the morning. -
At this point you should change it to a 8800M GTX, and maybe add 2 more hard drives as well for some nice RAID.
A single 8700M GT really doesn't cut it at WUXGA res in newer games. -
What is the benchmarks for the SLI GPU in 3DMarks

Hi,
I just recieved my Eurocom Phantom-X last week!!! quite excited but there are a few things I'm still adjusting to on thie notebook.
a) How do I enable the Numeric KeyPAD
b) Is there another way to program the cumputer so volume up/dn is a one step process instead of "Fn + F5/F6"
c) Is there a way to program the keyboard so that button between the ALT and CTRL is "delete"
d) and as an aside, is there some specific settings I should have to optimise the performance of this notebook for 3d graphics/rendering (i got mine with the Quadro 1600m VGA) not gaming
thanks -
9262 owner here! This next week is going to be torture waiting for it to arrive.
-
BadBoiDave,
Congratulations on your purchase! I know you wrestled with which notebook to buy for a long time. This one should get you through school quite nicely.

Sager NP 9262 Owner here Specs are in the Sig
Currently using stock 167.44 drivers having problem figuring out how to update the drivers. Yes I have read the sticky
Back on topic I am very happy with my purchase I was worried that from the pictures it looks a little ugly but once I saw it and 2 of my friends that both liked it alot. -
Sager NP9262 Owner here. Specs in Sig.
currently running 175.75 Gfx drivers from laptopvideo2go with modded inf and vista ultimate x64 SP1
overclocked my gfx cards with the bios mods. running at 600/975/1500
extremely happy with my purchase. now to find a external battery solution that i can use with this beast. -
-
@ARGH,
yeh mate i did an initial run of 3dmark 06 with the 175.16 drivers and got a score of 12708 all at stock settings. i posted this score together with the breakdown of the other scores in the 8800 gtx thread.
i believe this score is quite low as i was running alot of background programs.
im gonna try it again now with the 175.75 drivers as i have just reinstalled vista x64 again. i was having a lot of trouble with my missing nvlddmkm.sys driver after every reboot. it seemed vista was deleting it randomly or not loading it at startup. -
12708 with the OC? that is low. i actually got a higher score and i am stock clocks and a slower cpu. i got 12,8xx (can't remember the exact score).
-
i hope your gpu OC did not backfire or anything. do you have crysis? if so, can you run the built-in benchmark? that would be the sure-fire way to see if your OC worked because i have the game and know exactly what i get.
-
no i dont believe my oc backfired coz gpuz is reporting the correct clocks and so is rivatuner. i had a massive driver problem i think. i think i installed vista incorrectly the last time.
i do have crysis but i have not isntalled it as yet.
are u running xp or vista. coz i think you will get more marks running xp with 3dmark06 that what i got. -
i have XP.
and that's great that you have crysis. we can compare head to head with that game. -
have you tried running 3d mark vantage ..? i got a score of P7641.
-
i have not. i need vista to run that i think because it is only for dx10.
-
here is my crysis benchmarks;
crysis internal benchmark utility full screen mode Benchmark_GPU batch file;
800x600 all high dx9 = 49.16 fps avg. single gpu
1280x960 all high dx9 = 31.91 fps avg. single gpu
1440x900 all high dx9 = 29.62 fps avg. single gpu
1680x1050 all high dx9 = 23.37 fps avg. single gpu
1920x1200 all high dx9 = 18.86 fps avg. single gpu
800x600 all high dx9 = 43.50 fps avg. sli card
1280x960 all high dx9 = 41.67 fps avg. sli card
1440x900 all high dx9 = 38.56 fps avg. sli card
1680x1050 all high dx9 = 35.19 fps avg. sli card
1920x1200 all high dx9 = 30.28 fps avg. sli card -
awesome FPS.. will see what i get when i finally get around to installing it.
-
whats the hold-up on installing it? do it now
