Hey guys havent been around for a while, but i just have a question about our systemand didnt want to start a new thread for it...
I have been having some screen problems with my system, and it has been progressively getting worse...
When i boot up the computer i get some white horizontal ghosting lines and while i am on the desktop the screen starts shaking with intense streaming of white fine horizontal lines, its kinda scary if you ask me... This occurs at completely random times, not more than 10 seconds, and can usually be fixed temporarily (or for a while, it depends) when i close the screen lid...
I wanted to try to fix this myself because i quite plainly dont want to ship it in, and im sure you guys wouldnt want to either
So finally, down to the point...
Where do i access the lcd cable ribbon? through the panel on the back?
And if so, what size screwdriver would i need? as far as i can remember, the manual didnt say.
Thanks very much for your help guys, and your sure as hell easier to talk to than those dorks at sager ))

Just have another question, since were all mostly np9260 owners, not 9261, has anyone heard about people with the 9260 running with quad core processors?
How stable does it run?
Thanks -
Microsoft is unable to determine the exact cause of this error. However, this problem was most likely caused by an error in your computers random access memory (RAM). RAM is the main internal storage area the computer uses to run programs and store data.
During the crash analysis, we noticed the basic input/output (BIOS) system version on this computer does not match the specifications for the central processing unit (CPU), also known as a processor, that is installed on your computer. This can occur when a newer processor is installed on an older system board or older BIOS. Using a BIOS that does not support the installed processor can result in Windows system crashes. Contact your computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer for an updated version of BIOS for your computer's processor.
Additional information
Important: Upgrading the BIOS version may require moderate to advanced troubleshooting skills. If you are uncomfortable with performing these steps, you might want to consider consulting with paid technical support.
If your computer contains an Intel processor, you can use special utilities to identify your specific processor. Click the following link to go online for more information: -

I can say I had no issues with mine, It was loud and clear (better then my Razer Headphones that I promptly returned). Drivers maybe? Try to install them in order they came on the CD, or try to find if there are any updates in the usual places. If it doesn't work, RMA.

Front Page updated with new info. Very important info for SLI users to install drivers. Enjoy guys!
-
But it works fairly well in actual use and thats what really counts. -
if sager says it's a bad idea, it's sure as hell not good for the computer.
I'm waiting on the price of a mobo upgrade, I want a quad core and I'm still not sure if I can support the 8800m GTX yet.
but anyway, just don't put a quad core in the 9260, the 9261 DOES support it though.

Help a rugger out! -
Oh btw, great job on updating the SLI drivers info as well as how to install them!! I've been wondering how to get past that pesky blank screen/refresh rate problem. Cheers mate -

The 169.09 that I just downloaded are giving me BSOD's and -35% to -50% FPS in most games, including Crysis. And thats after 3 installs!
Until I can get back to lv2g, I'm going back to my 163.71's. Nothing wrong with them! Stability that lasts for (far as I've tested) 3.5 days, no hibernate or standby. -
Give the 169.04 drivers a test run if you can. I just upgraded to the 169.09 and I am seeing a large decrease in FPS myself. I think I am going back to the 169.04 tomorrow and run some comparisons. The 169.04 has worked the best for me so far.
-
-
Sorry guys, I haven't been much in the testing drivers stage. But I will uninstall my 169.09's tonight and try it out with 169.04's. I'm going to also install Crysis in Vista x64 and see if there is a performance gain. I've read a few articles that say there is a 15% increase when running it under Vista x64. I'll post the results later. I have a whole slew of drivers downloaded. Now that we have a method that works, I just need to get off my arse and do some serious testing.
-
Don't feel bad about it, I downloaded 169.09 the day it was out and just installed it yesterday. I think the 169.04 were faster but I need to do a real comparison. But it will give me something to do later.
-
If you have 2x8700's and Vista x64, 169.09 should work for you. I've been using them for a while now. I don't have crysis yet, but COD4 at 1680x1050 max except smooth smoke, averages 40fps. GOW is 1680x1050/max all, smooth as a baby's bottom fps. Drivers are not perfect though...In Bioshock it's fast, but it speeds up and slows down creating this jittery effect. NWN2 plays with no problems. Standby worked...didn't try coma mode yet though.
-
More like between 15-30 Megs.
And I went back to the 163.07's and got lower FPS in Crysis than the 169.09's. My only comparison for the drivers was against the demo, which was apparently more efficient or something. So despite lower fps in Crysis (like 18-30 average at medium-high with 1440x900) my system is now stable again. I'm getting very tired of this godawful drivers game. -
But I remembered you just had to download the actual driver and the inf which is a nv4_disp file that is only a couple of KBs. I already have the drivers, but i do not have the modded inf. I don't need the whole driver, just the inf. -
I can send it later but the inf from the 169.09 is the same from what I can tell. It should work with issues.
-
It's odd that I can run Crysis with the 94.22 but not bioshock demo/retail, UT3 demo, lost planet demo, seem to be getting the error below. Previously bioshock & lost planet were running, but not sure what I changed or updated and now they all pop up with that error. Other games work fine, any clues? I assume most of you here are computer geniuses heheAttached Files:

Lmao, should work with ISSUES. Nice.
Anyway, I misread what you posted- I thought you were talking about the entire driver to download, which I've seen vary from 15MB to nearly 67MB. -
As I have been reading that some are pointing towards 169.04 instead of 169.09, I don't mind testing out both as well. Though driver-rolling is really tiring and takes up a lot of time. -
Well... I just read the post myself .... issues or no issues.. I will send this out when I get a chance, sorry it is getting late here and it is taking 5 minutes to load a page. again. I will send it when I get up..

Doesn't anybody worry about the 8800 having driver issues?????
Come on look how long how long it took to iron out the issues with these current cards...
I think it funny how everybody makes a big deal about the 8800....
Sorry had to rant...

Hehe no worries mate take your time. Thanks again in advance! May you be blessed with increased 3DMark scores -
Miah,
Sorry I got busy. But you should have it now. -
Hehe, not really sure what rep is for but I would pressume its for cases like this where people help each other out.
Thanks again, hope to try it out soon and hopefully there is ++fps in performance. -
No problems! Sorry it took so long, I got tied in some issues here and it took a bit longer than I expected. Hope it helps out some.

Does anyone know how good the 6 channel surround sound output of the realtech is in games?
I plan to play some UT3 on my homemade HD projector and a new custom sound system soon. Should I just go ahead and order an express card or USB2 sound card or is the realtech chipset known to have working surround in modern games?
I have been out of the loop of high end computer audio stuff for a while.
UT3 does use OpenAL now.
I will be testing this out as soon as I move back home this weekend and make a cable to hook up to our current receiver's 6 channel input at home. But it would be nice to know if I would get any proper surround at all in the game before I go to the trouble of hacking together 4 stereo 1.8 to dual RCA cables into a cat6 cable and hooking it up just to discover no surround sound.
I know how to use S/PDIF.
I tested hooking up multiple headphones and the surround sound demo in the control panel works. (I've heard some people's mobo realtek sound comes broken) -
I have mine hooked up in 5.1 and it seems to work very well. I haven't noticed any performance hit from it yet either. It also seems to play movies back correctly as well.

I have a 9260 E6700 with 4 GB ram, vista 64, and 2 7950 gtxs. My best 3dmark06 so far is ~8500, which is WELL below a lot of the other benchmarks. As a result games have been giving me problems performance-wise that I didn't expect. I'm using 169.09, which seems to be the most stable though every driver including the official Sager ones give me ~8500.
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? -
Vista is part of your problem. With XP and no overclocking I was getting 9.5k. I was using 165.01 drivers to get that score. Are you disabling background programs also? Just a few thoughts.
-
Yeah might be--I was really hoping there was some "magic bullet" I was just flat missing since my numbers seem so off. Here is my task list, a bit of junk I suppose but I dunno. I've tried defragging and that didn't help too much. Kind of weird that it would say "28%" for physical memory, no? The system detects 4GB but I am sadly quite a noob in figuring out this memory stuff.
Hey Wu Jen, while I have the ear of an expert. What is the best way to output to my HDTV (sounds & video)--it's a Pioneer Kuro so it has all the inputs, PC, HDMI, etc. -
Sadly the DVI out is digital. My samsung has a vga input on it for the pc connection, unsure of your TV. I go with a DVI to HDMI cable then I run my audio out to my reciever. I don't get to use the TV's speakers but......
You can buy a converter box that takes the DVI + SPDIF and mixes it into a HDMI output. They cost about $250 and require their own power supply. Just a thought.
All of that crap that is listed with username AstroLad you can get rid of most of it. Check the Windows OS forum and do a search for Vista necessary processes. An optimized system will perform better than a non-optimized system.
Also if your quick enough you can change the priority of 3dmark06 and bump it up to realtime. Defragging your HDD won't do much to be honest. It would have to be really fragmented for it to matter to be honest. -
I just went through all 391 posts and didn't see to many quad users. I was looking at the q6600 and just wanted to get a feel from other quad users on heat issues.
Is anyone hauling this monster around if so, what time of case are you using?
Thanks -
I am using my old - 2001 - Samsonite. But be careful, one of the belt hinges gave away - had to be repaired. This thing is heavy! -
I have the q6700 and it does not really cause the laptop to heat up. I do run my fans on high when gaming just because it seems like a good idea. But I have not had any issues. For my normal day to day carrying I use a Targus 17"backpack. When I travel through airlines I am looking at getting a pelican case for extra protection and I can just check that way.
-
I am Happy with mine. The only thing it took me almost an hour to install was gears of wars. Is that normal. Anyways i like my new lappie. I have not had any chances to run 3dmark on yet. Carpet change at home.
-
I don't have gears of war but an hour to install? I think Crysis took about 20 minutes to install in Vista x64 and I was thinking to myself WTF!! I don't think it took that long to install in XP though....hrm.
-
When I installed UT3 it didn't take an hour. I forget how long but it was certainly not an hour.
I might get GOW sooner or later.
Crysis didn't take an hour to installer either. In fact it can usually load from the menu into the game in 10-15 sec or less for me with my nice RAID. -
The Game is almost 8GB in size. I thought that was the reason it took long. But i am going to install ghost recon las vegas today. Also i will try to install other games too. Any advice why it takes long i am running Vista 64bit business. Well the games runs smooth on it. I like
-
I would guess because its microsoft. But I am biased.
-
I installed GOW the other day it did take a while but was less than an hour, more like 20 mins or so, I went and watched TV while it installed.
Have you thought about updating to the trial sp1 I have noticed a more speedier responce to things. -
My D901C is on order: Q6600, WUXGA+, 120GB 7200RPM, 8700M GT, 2GB 800MHz Ram, I'll install XP Pro when I get it.
