As mentioned, if you really want to get down and dirty you use nvidia inspector :)

New XTU profile, 42x4, no throttling, max temp during XTU Benchmark = 86C / Max temp during wPRIME stability test = 82C / Max Temps during 3DMark11 = 70C

Setting the VCORE to adaptive but with a -150mV offset made a night and day difference as opposed to the static 1.166V I had set before where temps would reach up to 98C.

    Using CLEVO BIOS v1.05.02

    Download 42x4 XTU Profile

The 6700k runs at a base of 4ghz right? Without touching OCing?

it fluctuates between 4 GHz and 3980 MHz. which was bothering me as I don't want to think of this machine as anything other than a pure 4GHz. So now running at 42x4 I never see that ugly 3.xxxGHz speed under any situation while my temps are super cool thanks to undervolting my -150mV offset

Haha I don't mind the fluctuating.. But it runs that speed on all cores stock? Or just 1-2 then drops if all 4 are being used?

I have always had this bios and it throttles once the gpu's get involved. The only diff is I don't have the prema ec that you do.

So an official new bios/firmware is out? The "Cleve" files are for the "Sager" model? I know Eurocom has their own.

Sorry for the basic question, kinda new to the Clevo based systems and the different suppliers etc.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but can anyone give safe, cool overclocking template for the i-7 6820HK? Seriously not interested in pushing the limits and dealing with stability/heat/life-of-hardware issues, but I think this processor can be safely pushed significantly beyond stock.

Might be the wrong thread for this processor since its not even available in the P870dm, If you do have the processor and want to see what it can do download XTU (Intel(R) Extreme Tuning Utility) and lets get busy. If you are willing to do things over teamviewer we can check it out. :) otherwise you will want to report how many multipliers are unlocked and if it will hold clocks at each multiplier to see where it falls off in power or temp.

You should start browsing through the manufacture threads ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/#notebook-manufacturers.1002) to ensure you are posting in the correct section.

Here is the latest BIOS (1.05.02) for the CLEVO P870DM and DM-G: http://repo.palkeo.com/clevo-mirror/P870DMG/

You need to disable UEFI and boot into a WIN 98 Flash Disk, offcourse you have to place the extracted zip file there, then run MESET.EXE, that will reboot your system, then immediately boot back into the USB Flash disk and run flashme.bat

Curious ... This is a new bios but not EC? Does this new bios fix anything? Especially related to voltage and timings that is the issues as of now?

What sucks about this laptop the most bro is, you know when you have an Alienware or any other laptop, once a new BIOS is released, everyone can have it through the official channels. With this laptop, it's like you have to know someone to get it, it sucks big time. Like I am dying to get the Mythlogic BIOS now but cannot find any way to get it. I gave up on PREMA BIOS since it hasn't even been officially released as a final to EUROCOM, so getting it to the public is gonna take ages, I would probably have upgraded to another laptop by the time it is released. So at the end, we are all stuck at the mercy of the stock CLEVO EC and BIOS preventing us of unleashing the full potential of this laptop.

I understand the frustration for sure but I know Prema will follow through soon. From his point of view he has to be sure that what's released doesn't negatively impact anyone's system as it's his name on the line. Just like anything, no matter how good the product is it only takes one bad thing to be visible and that's what will be remembered which sucks.

I like to look at the glass half full, it's hard but it makes things easier in the long haul.

OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CALM DOWN MAN! Your laptop works perfectly fine and run's everything great! Tbh all my benches with the Clevo P771ZM and even AW M17x R4 had stock BIOS and did fine! You even have the throttling sorted with that EC! BE PATIENT!

That is exactly the right way to look at it. Imagine if it was rushed out to everyone with bugs and problems and started bricking machines that effectively had their warranty voided. That would be pretty cute. NOT! Good stuff takes time and it needs to be as close to perfection as it can be before it is available to the masses.

Plus, that's an apples to oranges comparison, too. Prema Mod is not a "Clevo" system BIOS. Some Clevo vendors have their own BIOS that brands their machine rather than using a generic Clevo "white box" system BIOS. Prema's firmware is an aftermarket mod that might void your warranty unless you have a Prema Mod Partner supporting it with their own boutique warranty.

Dell does not sell "white box" Alienware systems to resellers to rebrand as their own boutique product, and Dell doesn't distribute SLV7's unlocked system BIOS for the M17xR3, M17xR4, M18xR1 or M18xR2. On top of all that, they intentionally BLOCKED US from having an unlocked BIOS on the Alienware 17 and 18. And, the BIOS they provide isn't unlocked, so you're forever stuck with stock short of learning to hex edit and do SMD soldering to circumvent their evilness. I think this might even qualify as an apples to meatloaf comparison.

I totally understand why Brother @Matrix Leader is frustrated. I would be, too. But, yeah, even with the stock firmware, this model is the best the industry has to offer. It's spanks the life out of an Alienware 18, and other than the Panther, nothing else can touch this bad boy. So, what's not to love about owning the best of the best? Nothing is perfect. It might get really close with @Prema magic, but never 100% pure perfection.

“I am careful not to confuse excellence with perfection.
Excellence, I can reach for; perfection is God’s business.”

Prema's mods are great but sometimes people loose sight of the goal of the machine, out of the box the gaming is going to be good, then a little down the road as titles really push it you can get more out of it.

Oh yeah no doubt out of the box it is untouchable and games like a beast. Any new major release like this will take a little time and should be expected when buying into a whole new design and platform. I am just happy to known there will be a Prema bios for the machine at some point and support from him and the manufacturer/resellers.

I don't use XTU, all overclocking done through BIOS. I posted that XTU benchmark on my older P870DM-G which didn't have the PREMA BIOS so I had no other choice than to use XTU. Now I have a Eurocom Sky X9 which has the Prema BIOS

Customs duties and so did their job and I'm forced to use unfortunately XTU

    I bought a machine with reseller CEG-Hardcorecustom.
I got the original Clevo P870DM-G with the BIOS Clevo 1.05.03
as I wrote earlier today 1.05.02
I would go back only to the newer version 1.5.03 but it is nowhere

Otherwise you will have to spend on the BIOS 05/01/02 + XTU

As for Prema Bios to pay considerable money to have it :)

    Rather use Throttlestop. Try it.

why don't you just contact CEG to give you the 1.05.03 BIOS?
