It is not Throttling like crazy using your starting point. I keep finding myself returning to it actually. :)

(I did a little CPU-Z bench to have something to compare to. Not too shabby. )

Hitting some VR Throttling in games was using Metro Exodus in dx11 mode with the sli hack. but i have never gave any mind to limits. might have always been there?

I can speak for myself, having a P775DM3-G with a 8700k and 1080 everything is running great. Just need a bit of undervolt to the cpu and you are good to go. I got a LCD AUO B173HAN03.1 with 144hz and g-sync is working too! I did program the BIOS with a spi programmer since only flashing it, the machine wouldnt post, so i needed a spi programmer for it. Apart from that all is good :)

Yes I'm using dsanke BIOS and isolated the pins in the cpu and he's the gpu needs to be flashed too. It's not a modified vBios. Just an updated one

The hardest part is isolating the cpu pins since they are so small. See my post history and you'll see that I did a mod to the internal metal case over the BIOS (cut a little of the metal for easy access to the BIOS chip to avoid having to take the whole laptop apart)

For the P775DM3-G flashed the stock EC and my version is the latest available from Clevo: 1.06.01 if I'm not mistaken. Make sure you flash your laptop with the correct EC, don't cross flash from other models or you'll end with a hardbrick. And I'm using dsanke bios: P7XXDMX_RTX.rom. Update the vBios in the gpu in case you have a power GPA in a 10x0 or it won't POST

Hi guys. Flashed bios The i7 8700 is installed. Everything works stably, the load keeps 4.3 GHz, but above 4.3 the frequency never rises. Even with a load of 1 core. Is this the norm for this bios, or is something wrong with me?

Thats the max allcore speed of 4300. Turbo mode core1 should be 4,6

That's right where it needs to be for stock, all cores, performance.

Use XTU to fine tune your settings from the desktop and once you find your sweet spot based on personal criteria, set them in BIOS once finished.

If you want enhanced stability, use the suite of software listed in my .sig. You may not soar as high as you'd like, but you'll never have to worry about crashing and burning pretty much regardless of what you run.

that's the thing is that with a load of 1 core, the frequency still remains 4.3 and not 4.6 GHz.

I do not use the XTU, but in the BIOS, the turboboost frequency are default, i.e. 4.6-4.5-4.4-4.3-4.3-4.3

I tried to reset the BIOS settings, or control the multipliers using the throttlestop. Did not help.

If the turbo were disabled, then my processor would not work on 4,3 GHz, wouldn't it?

I think it would run 4,3Ghz all cores if turbo is disabled. Check it in bios

My friggin' SPI Flasher (the black one) finally arrived.
Now I'm not 100% sure if I found the BIOS chip. When clicking on "detect", the software detects a Winbound W25Q80BV chip, but it only says 1MByte/8MBit. Is it the wrong one?

Using the SPI flasher, I was able to revert back to the backup BIOS. Then I tried flashing the modded one, and I got the bootloop again. What am I supposed to do? Try the P870DMx version?

Edit2: It runs now, pretty awesome. Never thought I'd be so happy to see that blue clevo logo along with Dsanke's name. Now I only have to figure out why it doesn't boot from my SSDs, and why it always freezes whenever I save the settings in the UEFI.

    Did you:

    1. Flash Dsanke P870DM (This also updates the EC)
    2. Unit may black screen / loop. If it worked, stop here....yay
    3. If it didn't work, SPI Program Dsanke P870DM
    4. System should boot after X minutes
    5. Flash again with Dsanke to ensure a proper EC update (even though it should be after step 1, but never hurts as once Dsanke is on it, normal flashing procedure(s) will work)

As for flashing 870DMx (ugh), it makes sense the P870DMx would kind of/sort of work, as every version of Dsanke is a modified TM BIOS and the DM and DM1/2 share many similarities, but in the end it really isn't meant for the 870DM. You won't know if it is the wrong BIOS
or a problem with your system / Bad Dsanke flashed BIOS. You could do a clean install and see how it pans out, but personally I would definitely try to get the proper BIOS installed.

I tried flashing the "proper" one again and it worked now. I spent all day reverting to the backup bios using my SPI programmer (the engineers really picked a terrible place for the chip, I had to disassemble the ENTIRE thing).
At first, it booted just the way it should with a nice and crisp Clevo logo (modified by Dsanke), then I fiddled around in Windows to check if everything works and after a few minutes, I got a BSOD. And the next few times too. I guess I need a clean install. And G-Sync doesn't work anymore, which is a bummer. I have no idea why it would affect this, but I can't overclock the screen to 100Hz anymore, the image gets distorted. Now only 90Hz are possible.
Anyway, I changed some settings in the UEFI regarding boot order, and upon hitting "save settings", the whole thing froze (it does every time). I had to pull the plug. After rebooting it, the "high res" clevo logo looked much more pixelated, and the instructions "F2" for settings and "F7" for boot options suddenly showed up on the bottom of the screen. Again, pretty weird, why would that change? And I can't get it to boot from my SSDs anymore, even though they're set up corretly and detected by the UEFI.
Should I just flash the BIOS again?

Welcome to the wonderful world of Dsanke Frankenbios.

It sounds like your system switched out of UEFI mode when you get the larger clevo logo and F2/F7 appear.

I've found switching out of UEFI mode can cause the system to go unstable. I've messed with it numerous times and I can 50/50 get it to a point where I have to
reflash and where it suddenly won't recognize the GPU.

Of course flashing back to stock fixes everything but you lose the ability to run newer processors.

I would remove the cmos battery, main battery and do a power drain reset and then immediately a clean install of Windows 10 from there and see how it performs.

Each system can react different to Dsanke. Some it just won't take to and you have to revert back. Others have more success than others. Sometimes it comes
down to custom EC controls or systems (IE Origin for one).

I said it before and I'll say it again:

This is not @Prema level of work. It gets the job done when it works, but proceed with caution.

Guys, is there a limit on total energy consumption in this bios? I bought a 330 watt power supply. Does the BIOS need to raise the limit from 230 watts to 330?

No, the system will draw what it needs. If you're exceeding the tolerance of your PSU, your PSU will trip and shut down.

I reflashed the Dsanke BIOS just to get it to default settings. When booting for the first time, the settings seem to be fine mostly. I suspect that opening up the settings shows a few "default messed up" things that the computer doesn't actually use until you hit save, which is why last time my P870DM went into BIOS mode instead of UEFI. Am I right here? Is it my job to set up everything the way it should be, because Dsanke didn't optimize everything for every specific device (which would be understandable, of course)? I'm asking because I don't want the BIOS to make any changes to things like voltage and thermal control, etc. that could destroy the machine. And there are a lot of settings I don't know their function of.

I'm sorry, I know I'm super annoying but once I get this running I'll stop bothering you guys...
Inserted the 8700k (runs fine so far), installed a fresh copy of Windows 10. The installation process worked flawlessly.
Now in desktop mode, I keep getting bluescreens. The most frequent one is MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, I also had SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, among others.
I usually boot into desktop mode, the thing runs for about a minute or two, then the sad BSOD face greets me.
I've checked every setting in the BIOS but it's absolutely loaded with functions.
It surely would suck having to revert back to the original BIOS after all the trouble.

I'm not sure how many have tried 8th gen CPUs on this particular BIOS, that's all. Flashing the 8th gen bios that has had lots of 8th gen CPU tested on it might be something worth trying if you run out of other ideas.

    Have you reseated/memtested your ram.

If you put the old cpu back in does it still BSOD? Maybe the CPU is bad...

Not that I've ever heard this making a difference but try a +50mV overvolt to the cache and core from the bios to see if that helps or worsens instability

Does it BSOD sitting there in safe mode.

Took one last shot at this with the recent files and my Origin machine still yields a black screen with the P7xxDMx.bin file. Whatever Origin did for this model of the P7xxDM2G, it seems to be incredibly stubborn. Recovered with the hardware programmer, but I wanted to make a note here in case others try and have similar headaches. This was with all drives removed, battery removed, secure boot disabled. Flashing was verified by the software tool - no errors reported at any stage (other than some note about a GbE region not being available; not sure if that is relevant in any way). GTX 1060 firmware was already updated to the latest version.

Well, it's the VBIOS update that was provided - I just regarded that as firmware (BIOS). In any case, that's been updated.

If the BIOS image is useful, I can provide it. Not sure whether it would be terribly interesting for the broader community, though, in terms of maybe understanding why some systems seem to suffer the black screen.

1.07.26 support both GTX and RTX, 1.05.11 only support GTX ( you can install RTX card but you need inf modify to install driver.)
