Yes, you would have to pay duties. There are several Canadian resellers on this board that you should look into to compare your options. There's a sager reseller sticky on this forum. It's unlikely they can beat malibal on price, but the shipping + import tax may push it over.

Ahh ok, yeah I have had some bad experiences in the past with UPS and their fees so that is why I asked. Thanks so much for the clarification. I will PM you once I am ready to go! -
I ordered from Malibal - to - Canada (BC) too. I paid exchange rate + expedited shipping (which covers brokerage) + taxes when it arrives. Send a personal message to Malibal to find out about shipping discounts.
Edit: Oops a little late typing.... -
-
You can get quote from different resellers (in Canada and US) and compare the total cost. -
Just read through all of the posts in the thread, after doing some searching on companies that I'd like to do business with. I'm looking to buy a gaming laptop, so I can game while on the road for business, but also still game when at home w/ the wife & kids. With a desktop, I normally have it hooked up to the big screen, but I never get to use the big screen, ha.
One question that I have though, I know MALIBAL has a Military discount. What about a State Police discount? Thanks guys. -
Hi i am probably purchasing notebook in January, since my father is going to visit my grandmother in FL, and we live in Norway. So i've been looking for a computer to buy, and i saw that Malibal now has a promotion where you get a 100$ discount if you configure a pc for more than 1500$. I was wondering how long this promotion will last since my father isn't going there until the middle of January.
Thanks -

Where does Malibal ship from?
-
Las Vegas, Nevada and New York
as far as i've been able to discern. -
-
Can you post how long did it take for you guys to ship your laptop? What happened when there were delays?
-
Yeah I'm also wondering how long it'd take me to receive my laptop from order date.
I'm in NJ so would it take more than a week or around a week? -
Hi, orders ship out in 5-7 business days on average. We also have RUSH Service available, which is 1-3 business days.
-
Placed my order on rush. Let's see how long it takes.
-
The wait is killing me! -

I was part of the black friday order. Laptop arrived unfortunately with a defective GPU before christmas, and more thermal paste on the circuit board than between the heatsink and chip ($40 upgrade for ic9 ... understandable if twas a simple rushed mistake getting orders done for X-Mas).
Soonest they could get a replacement out was to ship today, with an upgrade to Overnight shipping so it will come tomorrow. Cool cool.
But on a side note i've been offering and asking since Dec 5th if i could upgrade my order, always being discouraged in one way or another by their reps ... and 4 days ago again i asked if i could upgrade the GPU from 6970 to 6990 (offering to pay of course). Sent another message asking about an upgrade 2 days later. No response. Ugh.... Well as long as the thing gets out at this point I'll be happy in the end
I know they've certainly lost money on these blackfriday orders and i feel for them, but overall quite a dissatisfying first ordering experience.
Awesome laptops though. Truly enjoyed my time with the first arrival before the discovery of the defective gpu. Everything was just as sleek and sexy as you dare to hope. -
Beast of a machine. Just simply a beast. Absolutely love it. Thank you so much Malibal!
-
What was Malibal's offer during Black Friday? -
Basically, Malibal is the best notebook retailer period.
-
another post to send a PM
-
Placed rush order on 26th (which was a holiday).
Payment processed on 28th.
Laptop shipped out on 30th.
Shipment due to arrive on Jan 3rd. -
[statement withdrawn, apologies all. order was A-OK]
-
Looks like your in the same boat as me.. UPS will not bring mine till the 3rd also due to holidays. -
Mine is 3+ days delayed... for last few days Malibal keeps telling me that it's in "testing" mode...
Ordered: 12/15/11
They took 2 days break for holidays and will take another day off for New Year. Then there's very low possibility of shipping on 1/3/12...or maybe still TESTING!
Stuff like this really pisses me off.
I don't even trust Malibal saying that I will get it next week. Only way they can compensate is to upgrade shipping. I can get it in 2-3 days in ground shipping anyways. He said that's the only way they can compensate this delay.
When I was chatting on Wednesday, he said that it will ship Thursday or Friday at latest. Saying that they are testing my laptop parts. And today is Friday and he said the same thing to me, and they aren't even sorry for their delay. Don't you think I deserve to know more as a customer on my product that I PAID for?
To future customers:
5 - 7 days is not always true, they told me later that, "It's average build time, not always".
So make sure you chose 1 - 4 days, so you will get more customer service + faster build. -
Well I ordered my Satori p170HM during the black friday craze, so order date was the 27th of November and it shipped December 20.
My most up to date computer I have is an E-machines hand me down... Needless to say anxious wasn't quite cutting it.
Well it finally arrives and I have seen nothing but BSODs all week, often intermittent, and on occasions multiple times a day. This machine is a monster in its own right, and customer service has been nothing but good to me with quick response times and the works. Lets just hope these kinks get worked out if not, my first major hardware purchase is not shaping out quite like I expected. -
[statement withdrawn, apologies all. order was A-OK]

Also, as we stated - we called yesterday and spent 35 minutes on the phone with UPS in order to try and get them to upgrade the package to Overnight with Saturday Delivery. It wasn't easy, but we finally managed to get a supervisor to locate the package and make this adjustment. Call UPS again and give them your tracking number and ask them if they see the note on the shipment where it was upgraded to Overnight with Saturday Delivery by Larry.
Also, we called UPS today and asked them why the package wasn't being delivered on Saturday as promised, and they said it was mistakenly put in a batch of packages being delivered on Tuesday, so they are going to refund the shipping costs, since they failed to delivery on time. This will also be indicated on your tracking number in the near future, so you can see that what we are saying is the truth.
UPS won't issue a refund unless the package isn't delivered by a guaranteed date. If we had shipped it Overnight on Friday as you indicated... then delivery on Tuesday would be on time, since that is one business day - which means they wouldn't issue a refund. However, they are issuing a refund - because delivery on Tuesday will be two business days since it shipped on Thursday. -
[statement withdrawn, apologies all. order was A-OK]
-
If you receive a message that your shipment has experienced an exception, then check the Shipment or Package Progress section in Tracking or Quantum View® Manage for details about changes in delivery schedule. An exception occurs when a package or shipment encounters an unforeseen event, which could result in a change to the expected delivery day. Examples of exception include: address unknown, damage to shipment, or signature not received.
As I stated, if we shipped it Overnight on Friday, then Tuesday would be the expected delivery date. However, since the original delivery date was Friday... UPS will issue a refund since they failed to deliver on time.
Also, it says right on the tracking number that the delivery date has been updated.

So... I've read through every page on this thread, and every post on http://www.resellerratings.com/store/view/MALIBAL as well and I guess I have come to the conclusion that-
1) Customer service can be very bad, as there is one bad rep in there.
2) GPU's may be defective [causes: shipping damage; its just being 'bad'].
3) Malibal does not check its devices or test it for damage before shipping.
4) Wrong parts can be given pre sales, or even if laptop is sent in for repairs under warranty.
So, is it still a good brand to buy from? The reason I am actually wanting to buy from Malibal is because it offers
1) Customizable GPU's
2) Really good prices
3) Somewhat decent customer service
Am I right? Please let me know whoever owns a Malibal laptop. So far, my experience has been good, and customer care has been fabulous, but what are your current opinions? I really need to know as I do not want to buy a bad laptop, and also because the resellers in India are pretty bad [and dumb]... Please let me know with your feedback. Thanks in advance. -
1) No, our customer service is never bad. We have 0 complaints with the BBB in 7 years... that is the indicator of how well we take care of our customers. A one star review doesn't mean anything, when people are allowed to make vague, unsubstantiated claims. If anyone ever had a real complaint against us - they could take it to the BBB, but as you can see - we've never had a real complaint filed against us.
Also, Resellerratings.com is a horrible company, and I encourage everyone to boycott them. We stopped using their paid services a couple months ago and look at what it has turned into. We have tried to leave a review about our experience with them, but they have blocked their own site from being reviewed: Resellerratings.com Reviews - resellerratings.com Ratings at ResellerRatings
2) Any part can be defective on a laptop, that's why there is a warranty - and as I have stated, we have ZERO complaints with the BBB, which means that no customer has ever complained about not getting the warranty they paid for.
3) All systems are fully tested before shipment. However, sometimes - unfortunately - damage can occur in shipping. But our customers do not have to worry - because if this ever happens, we have a 100% Quality Assurance Guarantee (outlined in my sig) which means that they will get a Brand New replacement at no extra cost.
4) In the past 5 months, there have been a couple mistakes made on parts that were corrected at no cost to the customer and since then, we have implemented another layer of verification in production to ensure that these mistakes do not ever happen again. -
Hello from a first time poster!
I'm looking into the P151HM1 and was hoping to get a couple questions answered as it seems your customer center is closed today.
Firstly, are there any free shipping promotions currently ongoing? And do you have any sort of student discounts available? Having read through a ton of reviews and discussions about these clevo notebooks, I'm definitely leaning towards going with Malibal as opposed to xoticpc.
Thanks! -
Hi Chrishifu, after you have 5 posts - you can send us a PM and we'll discuss our discounts with you. Thanks.

After reading through some of the recent comments in the Resellerratings page, I was very taken aback. The experience that those users had reported is vastly different than the one I had with Malibal. Resellerratings is reliable to an extent. However, past a certain point, you have to take their reviews with a grain of salt. There is no way to verify that those people have purchased a notebook from Malibal, and have met with the malicious customer service that they claim to have met with.
I know what bad customer service is, as I was formerly a customer of PC Microworks (now out of business), and I can assure you that Malibal is much different. To claim that they "sell defective GPUs, dont check their devices, give out bad parts" based of the resellerrating reviews is outlandish. 95% of customers here on NBR are satisfied with their purchase here, and the 5% aren't mostly because of shipping/order time (which is understandable to an extent).
As a customer who has enjoyed doing business with them, I feel like it is my duty to stand up for them in lieu of the aforementioned accusations. -

2) Again, there's a certain percentage of GPU's that will be defective no matter who you go to.
3) I've read multiple times that there's some in-house testing of the machines before they go out.
4) This can happen with anyone.
I may write a review of my laptop since I don't see one with a 95% matte screen with Linux. So far, it has been a month and I've had no problems with the laptop. It's running very smoothly. -
Big thanks to all those who replied
It really cleared my doubts
anyways, i just had one last question- what is the difference between Satori P170HM and Lotus P150HM. On the comparison, I was only able to find one difference, and that was the difference in 'Express Chipsets', which I really cannot understand, and would be much appreciative if explained. Please correct me if I am wrong, but
1) does the Satori have a metal body, and the Lotus have a rubber body,
2) and does the Lotus have better cooling, whereas the Satori does not, as its rear is slightly risen? [at least that's what I can gather from the pictures of it on Malibal's website.] -

I have absolutely no complaints about the laptop or the company as a whole. While my machine may have issues, Customer service has been with me every step of the way, giving me different tools to utilize to try and correct the issues. I am still unsure as to the cause of the issue (BSOD), it appears to be driver related or perhaps my network card being interfered with by another driver or program but this laptop is a monster sporting an upgraded I7 processor, 16 gb 1337mhz ram, and the radeon 6970m gpu, I have never seen or at the very least touched something this powerful. Once these kinks are resolved I intend to give a full review. I would just like to give Malibal my thanks for everything done so far.

That's good to hear. Customer service is huge with this type of purchase, which is why i'm leaning towards Malibal. Still haven't concreted that yet, but leaning that way. Will be going either Malibal or Xotic, now I just have to figure out which system, which is the fun part!

P170HM:
17" screen size
2 hard drive bays + optical drive
HM67 chipset (with XTU support and overclocking)
Aluminum palm rest finish
Possible 3D Screen upgrade
P150HM
15" screen
1 hard drive bay +optical drive
HM65 chipset (no XTU or overclocking available)
Rubberized finish
95% screen upgrade option
The cooling on the P170HM is better, but mainly owing to the increase in the size of the chassis. -
I bought NP8130 ( P151HM1) from Malibal on December 9th 2011. I ordered on Thanksgiving, chatted with them live and took 1 day to process my credit card.
VERY nice customer service. Got the laptop and was very nicely packaged. Everything works well. However i have a problem with hard drive clicking noise with a beep noise often. This happened after a week of use after I got my laptop
Everything else is perfect tho there was ONE stuck pixel/dead pixel. I dont know which one but you can't even see it. Good thing.
I loved their chat live. Answered every questions very well.
Sorry i was late on my review. I'll update after i can get my pics from my phone. Thanks for the laptop -

[the original post contained a message from Malibal on chat which was removed by respected Moderator, in which Malibal told me to buy from another brand]

thanks for the rude reply though... -
It was slightly rude. However, I might have said the same thing.
