star wars icons are included with the latest ui update. u have to configure the icons yourself. set up a profile that kicks in when u launch the game. u will get the hang of it fast.

yeah, you get used to the touchpad placement after a day or two. i had to disable the touch to click function on the pad myself, kept accidentaly dragging folders and stuff... no biggie.

I should be receiving my Blade in a few hrs! Woohoo!

Has anyone received their Orochis yet? Is it a good gaming mouse?

So far, so good. Setup was a breeze and downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia's website. I loaded up SWTOR and set it to high settings, got poor FPS at 10. When I switched it to low, I was getting 30 plus. How can I make sure that when SWTOR, it is using the Nvidia card and not the integrated graphics (When I start SWTOR, I right click on the icon and make sure I select the Nvidia card, but just wanted to make sure there wasn't anything else I should be doing, as I expected better FPS at the higher setting.) Thanks!

You might want to check that the swtor.exe is using the nvidia card, not just the launcher on your desktop.

Also, install this since it isn't installed by default, gave me a huge FPS boost on my laptop that didn't have it: swtor.com/community/showthread.php?t=253603

Does anyone find the keyboard a little hard to type on? Seems like I have to hit the keys at just the right angle sometimes for it to register a keystroke.

I find the keyboard to be pretty good, at least as far as a chicklet keyboard can be. Wanted to ask you other owners though if your "1" key is mushy, doesn't click the same as the others? mine doesn't respond as well as the other keys. May be a hardware issue with mine. Also wanted to ask you how you left side fan sounded when running light programs in the background? Just trying to compare with fellow Blade owners.

When playing SWTOR, I did find the ability had mapped to the 1 key a little less responsive than the others, but not game breaking. As far as the fan noise goes, especially on the left side, the Blade is much louder than my Macbook Pro.

How loud are your machines? While idle my cooling fans are off. But when doing simple tasks (not gaming) I can noticeably hear the left fan spin up in a whining sound. Does anyone else's fans have a slight whine to them?

Quad, my machine is relatively loud, I wouldn't describe it as a whining sound, but I can definitely hear the fan working pretty hard!

Thanks FLCarguy...I think a screw on the fan is no tightened all the way or something. Because when I press down on the blank surface just above the keyboard and to the left of the power button, it gets quiter and not as "whiny"

So how is everyone liking there Blade?? Anyone having any problems or complaints??? I have but one complaint and its a small one but for some reason I dont press hard enough for the 'd' key register and the numpad on the ui does not work all that well, needs a update I believe....Other than that loving the whole Blade running all my games at max settings with no problem, now of course I dont set the shadows to high but who needs too anyways. I even saw the Blade playing GW2 beta and seems it will run that just fine too and thats all I care about anyways.... I am a proud Blade owner and glad I made the purchase!!!

Oh Btw I got my mouse today too, looks sharp with my Blade, oh and just a note I got well over 5 hours on the battery watching youtube vids with the ui set 20% and the screen set all the way down and the keyboard lights off....Dont know exactly how long it went but I bet 6 hours is not out of the question turning the ui all the way down, and just surfing the internet

i have a shaggymac microfiber cloth that i keep b/w the lcd and the palmrest (17"). that i also use to wipe down the blade after use. Hope Razer will maybe sell a black one with the razer logo. Also been asking if they will sell a custom notebook case or backpack.

what are you guys using for carrying cases? i'm using an incase backpack for the macbook 15/17. Its light and thin, and has a plush microfiber interior. The Blade barely fits in there though. Don't want to buy a giant carrying bag for such a thin notebook, sort of defeats the purpose. Hope Razer comes out with a sweet case in the near future.

As for games, if you read my review, I play all of mine at 1080p and dial down certain settings as necessary. ambient occlusion and tesselation are things I don't really care about anyway, and the GFX card takes a performance hit with those features enabled. The card handles high res textures really well (crysis 2 and skyrim texture packs).

I am in the market right now for a backpack, not sure what to get yet...Took it to Best Buy and had all the employees coming to check out the Blade, even after telling them the price they did not even bat an eye and said they are going to buy it. Not one of them even knew what it was until I told them, all in all this is a great laptop and I love everything about it.

Skyrim definitely plays better indoors, about the same outdoors. high res texture pack, gfx at ultra, shadows at high (not ultra), 1080p.

the geek squad at best buy geeked out over my blade as well. i was trying to take side by side photos of it next to a macbook pro 17 and an asus g73 for size comparisons for my review, but wasn't able to take the photos. best buy wouldn't allow it.

Again, really like the Incase Backpack. with the Blade. Snug fit, but is light, comfortable, and keeps a small profile.

Loving my Blade, getting 60 plus FPS in most areas of SWTOR at High settings (but with AA and Shadows at low) Now if I could just figure out how to get the Switchblade UI to load with SWTOR...

This may already been addressed but if you were to purchase the Blade using a VISA card, wouldn't VISA automatically give you an extra year warranty? Not sure how this would work with a laptop though, my parents once got a free fix out of Sears because they bought their oven on a VISA card.

I purchased with AMEX, so not sure about their Warranty policy on computers, but I need to follow up with Razer to see if the extended warranty is available yet.

Best of luck to you on getting your Blade order through today! I agree, that was nice that they sent the email the day before this time (even though I already have my Blade, I still got the notifcation email yesterday.)

So, as I mentioned in a previous post, the fan noise on my Blade seem a little louder than most laptops (I previously owned an M17x-R3).

So for comparison I made a quick video using my iphone 4s. Do you other Blade owners mind listening to the video and tell me if my fan noise seems abnormally loud?

Hey, mine was loud too, so I took apart my razer, and applied TP on the heatsink and the fan spins up less now. I also sprayed some grease onto the bearings and it's a lot more quiet. Warning though, it appears razer affixed a marking to tell if you opened the chassis. Which is fine with me since my Amex Centurion provides me with extra warranty (insurance vs. company).

That sucks....I hope no one opened their systems, as that means their warranty is void, which is not going to be good if something does occur.

Off topic but everyone in here seems to be very knowledgeable on computers. I'm looking to buy a high end gaming rig. I've always wanted to get an Alienware, but I'm looking at some other manufacturers now and wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them : Falcon Northwest, Cyberpower PC, Dog House Systems, Maingear...any others that I am missing? I know I could build it for much cheaper, but I'm more into the convenience of having someone put it together rather than the price.

Also, will getting two 3 MB Graphic Cards (thinking Nvidia GTX90) really improve my performance, or will it just create compatibility/driver issues.

    Thanks!

AMEX should give you an extra year as well. I was able to order one last night. But they were available for about an hour and a half, kind of suspicious. If they send out cancellations I hope they honor the orders in the order they were received. I ordered mine right away. Still no email confirmation or shipping info. Fingers crossed.

As for this fan noise, it cant possibly be louder than my jasper chip xbox right? If not then Im fine with the noise factor.

That is a question for the Ages. There is no real answer.

Maingear, Falcon, Sager.. All of these are built on the Clevo Frames with custom selection of parts. In a lot of ways, they are all the same.

Alienware, MSI and Asus have their own unique frames and set of options. This Razer is a whole new frame and is the lightest and thinnest.

If you want SLI/XFire, you have few options.

If you want 580/6990 Power, you have a LOT of options in 15-18".

If you only need 540/550/560 power.. Darn near every OEM has something for you in just about any form factor.

Congrats on ordering one! I remember the anticipation when I ordered mine of whether or not my order went through because I never got a confirmation email. As long as you have an order number, I think you should be fine. Just go into your account on razerzone.com and look at order history.

I purchase one yesterday when they became available at 3pm pst. I have not gotten any email confirmation yet, but my account does say order submitted. According to the website it mentioned shipping would start today the 29th. My question is will they email you shipping confirmation/tracking or do i have to constantly be checking my account status? Question is for people who have purchased and received the laptop.

I second this. If you'd still rather have someone build one for you then Origin, Digital Storm and iBuyPower might also be up your alley. I don't have any experience with them as I've always built my own desktop computers.
