sorry, been very busy today. preached a funeral, working on my sermon for tomorrow. also need to do tests and take photos for review. Carrying my laptop around, BTW. At the gym typing away on my sermon, with Blade sitting very comfortably on my lap.

little hard to see WIE scores, but wanted you to see the switchblade below to confirm yes, this is a Blade, and yes, that's my user name in the sticky note.

    Processor: 7.1
    Memory: 7.5
    GFX: 7.0
    Gaming GFX:7.0
    Hard disk: 7.7

Note the original WIE score was 6.9, I overclocked it to get to 7.0, then reverted back to stock. When running the re-assessment at stock now, though, graphics scores stay at 7.0.

were you asking about the WIE score and me actually showing a pic with the laptop visible b/c of a certain website claiming the WIE score was only 6.0? I saw that. Not sure if I believe them.

It's very possible that the overall score is 6.0 because of the Windows Aero performance and Optimus. I can't get WEI Aero to work for my GT 550M on Ideapad Y470. I get 6.8 score for Gaming Graphics and just 5.6 for Aero. Sometimes it only defaults to the integrated card and WEI fails to test it with the dedicated GPU. I suspect all of the other scores should be very similar to yours in their review. WEI score is really meaningless to be honest.

I agree. My WEI score is 5.7 due to Aero using Intel HD Graphics rather than my GT540m.

They had for the graphics portion of it was 5.9 and 6.0 which I knew something was way off. Plus they were bashing it justifying it with those score.

No one uses WEI to justify performance. Anyone who does that doesn't deserve to be trusted as a reviewer.

Yes. The gaming gfx was almost a whole point lower than mine. And again, they didn't actually show a photo of the blade, just a screen. Then they challenge razerzone to send them a demo unit to disprove it....

I've been following this page for a week or so now and have tried to find all the info I can on this laptop, as I'm pretty committed to buying one. I know they say it's US only, but does anyone now if I could order one in Australia through razerzone US? If so, will try my hardest to get one in the next batch.

I think you can't order in the US.

Another person tried to order from Canada but it ended up being cancelled.

You will have to find someone to ship it abroad for you.

modern warfare 3 runs great, 1920x1080 all settings maxed out, including filtering, getting 45fps avg, never goes under 39fps, many sections running 55-60fps (single player, 1st level of campaign)
battlefield 3 obviously more intensive than mw3, but i still prefer mw3 gameplay.

John, will you be posting your review today? I am seriously considering getting the Blade today (if it goes on sale) but it has been difficult to find reviews of this laptop. I understand the performance doesn't really match the price point (although I priced out a similar Origin laptop and it seems competitive.) I think the design and switchblade interface looks amazing. I have a four year old 17" Macbook pro that suits my needs fine, however, I started playing Star Wars the Old Republic on my Imac (bootcamp) which runs rather slow, so I haven't even attempted to run it on my MacBook Pro. I think the Blade will be able to handle SWTOR, but just wanted to validate it with feedback from your review. Thanks!

Hey fellow Floridian the blade will play swtor @high settings with decent fps.

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk

Also, Blade owners and future ones might want to read the FAQ:

    @Johnnobts
Did you see any kind of sticker or something that would tip Razer off that you opened the back of the laptop?
Have you given League of Legends a shot yet?

(make sure to not delete that partition, or you guys may be SOL).

Thanks for the reply, have you played SWTOR on the Blade? If so, how is it playing with the Switchblade UI (that's the main reason I am buying this laptop versus an Alienware or Origin...yes, I know, I'm paying a premium for the brand names :)

I do not own a Blade, I have my M17x-R2 in my Sig below, but every review that I have read on the blade says it will play SWTOR @ high settings with Decent FPS( I am assuming they mean 30+) If you can't get a Blade this time around Go for an M18x! :) I have heard Razer is planning on selling it's UI in a separate standalone package for use with people that want it, but have an existing laptop.( I really want the Switchblade UI as well)

I actually just priced out a M17x , nice system! I prefer the weight of that versus the M18 as I travel occasionally and this won't be my main gaming computer.

The M17x R3 with a 580m or a 6990m is a pretty beastly laptop. You can get upto 5 or 6 hours on Battery life(not gaming), and when you need to game either one of those cards are almost as good as both of my 5870's. Nice buy if you can't get the Blade. I am waiting for them to sell the Switchblade UI separately. I may just cough up 250 bucks for the SWTOR keyboard with the Switchblade UI.

I really wish they Razer SWTOR keyboard had the extra thumb buttons like the Anansi keyboard has. I just ordered the Anansi but will probably get the SWTOR keyboard as well to have the Switchblade interface for my desktop.

That indeed would be awesome! They should have added them to the Blade IMO, or they should have included a version of one of their gaming keyboards into it like the Blackwidow or Anansi. Now that I think about it though, the Blade's KB is almost like the SWTOR keyboard.

Back on topic though. I am really looking forward to John's review. :)

I hope he posts it soon, I spoke to a Razer rep today (and just got an email) that they may release more tonight on the website, they said check the site between 9 and 12 PST...my purchase could hinge on his review...no pressure :)

On a side note, I ask the Razer rep about buying an extended warranty (1 year on top of the existing year, it doesn't cover the battery.) They said the final details aren't out on the extended warranty yet, but users would be able to purchase it after their blade purchase up to 90 days.
