Forget about 320 gap you should looking at the price with extra guarantee, that 2519 bucks comes with a year guarantee right in US? Buying it with a year guarantee like playing with the fire or playing Russian roulette, I mean regardless Razer, on any gaming laptops.
Honest opinion: get 3070 so I’ve friend for searching right vbios :biglaugh:

If you don’t buy a warranty then you’ll have 1 year warranty from Razer. That’s standard practice in the USA. Even if you don’t buy a warranty you’ll get one from the product maker.

There was chinese review about 3080 Oled i9 one, but I don’t understand it and somehow Timespy is worse than my 14 3070, maybe running on balance mode or so, it should be better actually.

Not sure what he’s doing lol, but I just got mine two days ago and already hit 12k overall in Timespy.

Will be doing all my mods this weekend, and still looking for a way to flash the bios since it looks to be using a different style chip this generation

For 105watt default tgp 12k Timespy is great. Can you upload the result, curious what bumps that 12K, the cpu or gpu?

    GFX score around 11.7-12k
    +210 core, +300 mem locked at .900mv
CPU score 10k, after tuning -.80 core, -.50 cache

I’m interested in flashing a higher TGP vbios, maybe 115w or 125w+5

    Will upload some results tonight

edit: also already LM’ed, so temps are a bit better..

To do list: better RAM, new nvme, thermal pads, unlocked BIOS

Nice to know finally it’s undervolted able on 11 gen, considering 10th couldn’t. Hopefully there’s vbios that matches the ID, here only 3060 variant could, I couldn’t yet find any vbios or nvflash that matches 3070 variant. It’s expected that 15 should be able beat counter part gpu on 14 due better cooling room, I’m still curious about 5900HX performance since I saw also other brands are capable doing 10K on Timespy cpu score. It should be something I missed, only got around 9,5K.

Btw is storage driver is really a matter on performance? That I heard first time, yes ram density, cooling, bios moding, i know it would. Maybe I’ll take a look on bios moding (cpu), not touch it yet.

So for anyone that has a Valve Index and wants to know if this machine can run it. . .short answer. Yes. Long answer, make sure to buy a usb-c to display port adapter. And make sure in device manager to turn off the feature for windows to turn off the usb port to save power check box. Otherwise the headset will connect and disconnect over and over. And I forgot to turn on custom settings in synapse so I was using the default auto profile and was able to play high fidelity in Half Life Alyx without any issues. Impressive for a 14" machine to be sure.

That’s great game, like it. Unfortunately it’s impossible to me having VR set, not enough room space, it’s on balcony though but I don’t want to fall down from 4th floors :swoon:, or maybe neighbors call police reporting a weird man try to break my house :biglaugh:

Yeah I moved my setup because I've full on punched my wall playing Gorn. Plus I don't want to be punching my terrarium. Don't need my pet lizard running free in my home.

Smallest room I've used was 8' x 10' with a desk. Smacked my knuckles off the wall too many times to count. I have no idea how my controllers still work. Got it hooked up in the living room now. So far no wall punches. Just almost tripped over my coffee table because I walked too far.

Is this a Joke? Update: Razer has informed us that the reduced SSD speed is due to PSPP (PCIe Speed Power Policy) set by AMD and is not controllable by OEMs like Razer. The policy is meant to increase battery life by reducing SSD performance. Something similar to what is happening with the CPU and GPU.

Thanks - they've cleared everything up and added new options in the last day. Super glad to see it. With the 10% discount + cheaper tax (for some reason) + more affordable (and arguably better) warranties, I was able to snag the 3070 configuration WITH a 4-year warranty for $50 LESS than just the laptop through Amazon. Heck of a deal and feel really good about it.

I was very, very tempted to splurge on the 3080 considering all the cost-savings; but it would have still been about another $400. I'm still debating, but I just don't think the extra, what, maybe 5-10 FPS in most games will be worth it. But then again, already spending all this $$$...

Yeah it’s really suck on battery performance and even ac adapter power unless you’re m1 fans that happy ever after getting 30 to 50 FPS playing windows games. It transforms to 200 bucks chrome book an office laptop using battery power according 3DMark, you’d better playing on Apple or Razer book on battery power.

    Razer book battery-Blade14 battery-blade 14 65 watt (Razer book ac adapter)-blade 14 230 watt ac adapter max power (175+core/400+memory)
Extra FPS is always welcome  worth it or not depends your wallet, for me not even at 400 bucks. Same position, dunno what to do like for 2 weeks ended up canceling the 3080 :frown:, anyway in my case it was another €700 bucks.

I saw that after I placed the order for the 3080 version. The 3070 version didn’t appear on the website unless I specially searched for “Razer laptop.” If I just sorted laptops by brand it just showed the 3080 one.

It just got delivered but I’m at office. Can’t wait to test it later.

So you’re working on office daily and going to college like on afternoon (from MS Student discount) :D, how tough guy you’re… :eek:wait that means when we chatted back then in 2017 with old blade 14, you were still in high school :chatterbox:

Got the new Blade 14 w/ RTX 3080 up and running. Thanks to @Joikansai for putting me in touch with a useful Razer rep regarding return of my original laptop that developed a bright pressure spot behind the LCD on day 14 of the 14 day return policy. Dealt with 5+ different reps but ultimately they are going to process the return which is great. That said, bought this 3080 version from Microsoft...not re-ordering the 3060 version from Razer as much as I love it.

Here is my Time Spy result with a +130 core offset and memory offset that I forget, but running at 6500mhz. Scored 10,125 overall and 10,443 graphics which is pretty good all things considered.

    http://www.3dmark.com/spy/21439124.

Ended up with the 3080 version since I didn't see the 3070 version on MS site when I ordered. I have to get used to 1440p on a 14" screen, didn't think I'd be a fan but so far scaling at 125% makes things very comfortable.

Yeah I’ve 165Hz 15inch 1080p portable monitor and it’s one of the best color on this category out there but compared to this 14inch 1440p it’s hard to use it anymore. I smell anytime soon first 11K Timespy Blade 14
Yes I heard MS store has also great protection plan and yes maybe there’re too many Razer CS who can’t hold their horses handling a case so they fight each other to handle one case :biglaugh:

I doubt I’ll make much more progress haha. Can’t find a vbios that works, will keep my eyes open! People have gotten 16gb vbios to work on 8gb 3080 laptop cards but I think it’s just Asus and maybe MSI.

Hopefully the MS warranty will cover battery bloat if it ever happens to mine.

The PCIe ASPM setting is still there it’s just in a different place. Looks like my Asus G14 bios screen. It’s there under a folder called “demo” for some reason. Even so, I don’t think we can flash modded bios now, I’ll of course keep looking into it to see. I think our 5900HX is being held back a little?

Yes most top 100 5900HX could score 10K plus maybe it’s due cooling limitation that Razer set, basically like on cinebench this unlock ryzen 9 can steadily running on 80ish watt but heat as trade off. Maybe with proper repasting, unlock that power limit it can achieve 10K. The difference with HS variant imo too small.

Here is where the GPU settings are located. I am able to mod the setting but can't flash the bios. It gives me mismatch / secure rom errors. On the 2016 and 2017 Blade I was able to disable ASPM which boosted the GPU performance.

    Capture.JPG

Not yet. The 3060 version seems to be the unicorn. I'd have ordered it again if I could've gotten it from someone other than Razer direct.

Nice, hopefully we can find a way to flash. I don't think it'll work. I also tried using another utility using a bootable USB stick and FreeDOS, it wouldn't even boot.

    This little monster lmao.

Spoiler it beats 3080 g15, and it’s only with 3070 can compate also with huge legion pro. Imagine if they put mux and let the vbios and bios easier to mode. The heck those bios option no give opportunity to unlockable overclocking tab at all.

I like how he says the G14 is impossible to get and yet it’s never gone out of stock at bestbuy in my area. Asus has been really having trouble keeping their machines in stock during the pandemic.

As far I know Razer had prepared this launch since a long time ago as secret project, I remember when first Azor and Min teasing the product. So from stocking I think they have no problem, it’s on stock every where here as well Amazon and retailers. G14 maybe due recent sales and maybe they prepare something also to answer Razer blade 14. As always with more budget friendly pricing and flowx13/ stealth class starter 3050/3050ti GPUs :D

The G14 went up in price too. Not so sure they can do that with Razer basically having the better choice. But oh well. The Flow x13 would be interesting if they had the 3050 model with the egpu bundle.

Since effective product support has been outsourced to the user community at this point, I figured I'd ask around as much as possible.

    1) Because I had a decent discount code I bought a the 3080 version of the Blade 14. It arrived Friday. Flawless model upon inspection and I used it moderately (hooked up to USB-C on a cooling pad, disabled/limited Turbo and cut the wattage in Ryzen Controller).

    2) Everything was fine until I had some updates pushed to the thing on Sunday. I noticed that among what was installed, the identifiable bits included the AMD chipset and GPU panels/drivers. I realize this is inexact and unscientific sounding but it is what it is. Immediately after reboot, the Nvidia GPU started throwing Code 43 errors in Device Manager and USB-C stopped video output, and it's been this way ever since.

    3) I tried DDU, reinstalls, uninstalled/reinstalling Synapse. Resetting Windows several times and going through Setup offline. Still no change. When I finally got ahold of Razer support I jumped through their hoops and performed the same steps again, although I got a factory image from them that I threw on a flash drive. Still no change, even blew away the recovery partition and reinstalled it from the one I downloaded.

Case has been sitting "escalated" on Razer's end for over a day with no response. I know I'm likely screwed here but considering this thing is now only fourth days old, do you think if I pressed them for a refund they'd honor it or force me to RMA and wait weeks for a replacement?

I'm out of ideas (well, maybe I could reflash the stock vbios but I don't know where I could find it for this model and I'm a bit leery of doing this with an open support case). This is a fairly awful experience and the only reason I am even giving this machine a try is my previous attempt at a newer-gen laptop in 2021 involved three different Zephyrus G15s with operational or display defects (I should have really loved with those dead pixels I guess).

So tell me, how screwed am I and does anyone have any tips on how to get Razer to maybe not screw me here?

    Thanks in advance.

Assuming you bought from Razer directly, you're still within the 14-day return period. Take advantage of it, ask for an RMA, and get your money back.

Sounds you maybe messed up with ryzen controller, I wanted to try also that but apparently it’s not optimized for latest ryzen CPUs.
Did you buy from retailer or Razer btw? If you want to reflash vbios there’re some users here have that model you can PM them, did you also try to cross flash it?

Hrrrrngh. Seriously? I used it with the G15 all the time (yeah I know it's not the HX model, but still). Was just trying to invoke a temperature limit on this thing and in fact it did work fine from a perf/temp perspective until those other AMD bits showed up.

No, I haven't cross flashed vbios and was trying to avoid doing so as I'm not real confident about the thermal headroom on this thing and additionally was happy with using USB-C out for video.

But yeah, I'll bite. Does anyone have the stock Blade 14 3080 VBIOS they'd be willing to toss my way?

    Thanks for the tips.

I am at work but can PM you the stock 3080 vbios when I get home. Send me a PM with your email if you'd like. I've been running the Blade 14 3080 daily since last Friday with all updates, no issues here. The issue can't be Ryzen Controller software if you've wiped the drive and reinstalled Windows, can it? Just to prepare, you should download Nvflash version 5.692 as that version recognizes the dGPU.

I would start the RMA + return process NOW. I bought the 3060 model from Razer direct and on day 14 it developed a bright pressure spot behind the LCD. The website wouldn't let me request a return because it said I was beyond the 14 day return window. So I emailed CS and with some help from @Joikansai they replied pretty quickly and authorized a return for refund. Fast forward to today, they've been radio silent since early Friday morning last week when they said "they'd pass the case along to the team who handles return + refund process."

I ordered the 3080 model from Microsoft last Wednesday with the $300 student discount. Arrived Friday morning, lightning fast. No way am I re-ordering or doing an exchange through Razer direct.
