There's no issue when playing at a lower resolutions than 3K. With Crysis 3 maxed out at 900p, I get 50-60 FPS.

so for gaming, 1600x900 looks really good on that screen? I get mine today so I haven't been able to test this yet.

I'm I using the desktop at 900p. Blame Unity. Looks great. Desktop definitely looks better at 1800p, no question there, but gaming looks fantastic.

Check my other thread in here too. It has some tips for avoiding the most painful (max) fan speed. You'll have to do something to address it, otherwise I can't imagine anyone would consider it acceptable. If you have used gaming laptops in the past and are expecting to hear the fans, the fan speed of the razer blade that is one below max really is fine. You'll certainly hear it -- you wouldn't be comfortable running it like that in a library, but it won't kill you at home.

The TLDR is: plan on keeping the ambient cool, elevating the laptop, using a cooling pad, or lowering your multipliers and using "good bang for the buck" game settings (IE: FXAA instead of 16xMSAA) and avoiding tessellation, tressFx, etc. or other GPU/CPU intensive features. You'll be happy with it.

Just received the blade in the mail. The qhd screen looks amazing and I have not noticed any issues mentioned in other threads. Laptop benches great and looks too good to be true to have those specs . So far , very happy

Still, you might want to go to Intel's site and grab the latest 4600HD drivers.

I believe it did fix that issue..

I was having the issue with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, I think some newer Intel drivers fixed it.

I overclocked the gpu with the new vidia drivers to +135/+300 , saw no rise in temps . No voltage jump so was hoping the frequency didn't change anything . Max temps in crysis 3 is 83c

Oh alright, I usually sit under the 80s but with the overclock I get to the mid 80s for the GPU. The limit with the stock vBIOS is 135 mhz anyway. It really takes away the appeal of the bigger machines. You either flash your own vBIOS or you waste all your cooling potential.

Hey guys, is there a difference in quality between the QHD screen and HD screen? As in, colors and blacks and stuff? Also, do we know how much of the Adobe RGB scale it achieves for the QHD?

There probably is a huge difference when you simply consider one is touchscreen with a reflective finish while the other is non-touch with a matte finish. Simply that should be a huge difference between the two in terms of appearance.

True. But has anyone been able to compare them side by side? It's really important to me that I get as accurate color reproduction as possible.

Also why aren't they offering 1080/16 GB? Why only have two options?

Cost likely as they solder the 16GB on. and I wold not be surprised if the QHD and FHD use different display connectors so different boards. Why support 4 boards when you can get away with 3?

Uhh I don't know... with that kind of logic couldn't I argue that they should just allow you to install your own ram though normal dimms and then move over to support 2 boards instead of 3?

dimm slots would make the notebook thicker. Soldering the actual memory chips on motherboard itself eliminates that. Cost is also a factor; its cheaper to solder everything onto one board than have it all separate( MXM slots, cpu socket, dimm slots). That would be my guess. Alienware did the same with the new 15 and 17, removed 2 slots so that they could thin the chassis out.

Dynamic core voltage is at -80mv
    Cache voltage is at -20mv

Every CPU is different so I lucked out with one that would run stable at this low of a voltage. Im betting razer cherry picked these from Intel.

yes, black brushed aluminum. I don't really like the other pattern.
Also I think the skin doesn't fit on the bezel part of the screen, but I am not planing to put the skin around the screen anyway.
I am also a little hesitate to put it on the bottom of the machine as well since it does get quite warm down there between the 2 fans. I think I will just cut out the area between the fans to avoid heating issue.

They are cut outs, if you don't want to show the logo, you could place the decal for the touch pad over the decal, and then place the top chasis decal over that. You will still see the outline where the top decal has the cutout, but it should work if you really want to hide it.

There is another thread where someone bought this same decal and posted pictures.

I put the decal on the bottom of mine after some hesitation, and I do think it gets a little warmer, but I am also not convinced that I am just imagining that. Without a doubt, the hottest part of the laptop is the strip above the keyboard where the power button is. I would definitely not put the sticker over that part.

I just pulled the trigger on the Razer 14 QHD from the Microsoft store and that skin from Amazon. I've had 5 laptops in my life and I've never bought one without meeting it first, so hopefully I'm not making a mistake here. :p I'm coming from the Sony Vaio SVZ, a super light, powerful, and beautiful laptop (with a perfect screen), so hopefully Razer's weight and screen quality don't make me regret my decision.

Also, does anyone have any idea on what Razer might do for their next edition of this laptop next year? Or can we just assume it'll basically be the same thing again? Looking at past trends it seems they just upgrade things rather than redo the laptop itself.

Im very OCD and picky with my gaming laptops. I went through 3 of them just recently (alienware 17, MSI GS70, Asus G751), and the razer blade 2015 has met my expectations and then some. You wont regret it. The only thing I see them changing next year is the 17 inch pro. They may match the more powerful GPU's that the 14 has. Cause really, it makes no sense for the larger model to be less powerful. Other then that, maybe new ports like a display port. Seems like they are following Apples trend, keep the chassis close to the same and just update the specs. The CEO is in love with Apple so expect this to continue. Congratz on the laptop!

The thing is I don't even game. The last game I played on a computer was Star Wars Phantom Menace in 1999. XD But I do a lot of video editing and Photoshop, so hopefully I'm getting the right laptop here. Should arrive in less than a week, so we'll see. :D I'm worried the weight difference going from a 2.5 lb Sony Vaio SVZ to this thing will be hard to get used to, not to mention the QHD screen and Windows 8, so we'll seeeee. I really think Sony made the best laptops and that myself and other Sony owners were spoiled by them.

Oh I actually need the smaller one since I run around a lot. I've always had small laptops. I'm just worried about the QHD. 1080 I can handle. 4x smaller than that, if the problem doesn't scale...

the way i fixed all scaling was to set the resolution to 2048x1152 in the Intel graphic options, and then click scale full resolution in the options. This will only appear when you set the resolution below the 3200x1800 resolution. The apps I use allow me to set resolution to 3200x1800 when i need it. I've played games from 1600x900 to 3200x1800 and they all look amazing on this screen, you should enjoy it!

    all,

overclocked the 970m a little more on the memory, im at +135/+400, now scoring about 8515 on the gpu in firestrike. If i had a custom vbios, i bet i could take this thing to 980m levels with a good notebook cooler.

Do you guys use the nvidia (GeForce experience) recommended option for optimizing a game? So I am playing borderlands 2 and it recommends I put everything on ultra or high even with max resolution. Do you think it is too much for the laptop (even though its a 3 year old game)? I normally scale the resolution to 1920x1080 when playing and sometimes I still get dropped frames (into the 20's to 30's). Should I just use optimized settings when playing the game? (it does make the graphics look so much better lol). Also, I have been monitoring my laptop temperature when playing games and with a laptop cooler I get around 70 - 80 degrees C. Is that a good temperature? thank you

Those temps are fine. I don't use Geforce Experience , I always customize it myself and adjust depending on the frame rates.
