Hey guys, finally pulled the trigger and bought a 256gb qhd version of the 2015 Razer blade. Made sure to buy it from the Microsoft store and got the 2 year warranty with it, haha.

    Couple questions though.
    1. What kind of benchmarks do you guys recommend me for stress-testing? I want to see if there any kinks in the system sooner than later. I'm thinking of doing PCMark, 3Dmark, but other than that I'm not sure what else (never really stress tested a system before).
    2. Does the blade come with the latest Intel drivers? I read somewhere in this forum that the latest Intel drives fix some scaling issues.
    3. Anyone have memory problems? I got a memory error while playing Dying Light earlier, no idea where it came from
    4. Anyone know if it's normal for the laptop to shutdown after a period of time in sleep mode? I had it on sleep mode before I went to bed, and woke up to it being turned off fully. Not sure if this is normal because this is the first Windows 8.1 laptop I've used (maybe new settings?)
    5. How does 1080 resolution look for everyone? Mine currently makes all the icons HUGE, when switching from native to 1080. (actually it just came to me to reduce the icon scaling down from 195%.
    6. And lastly - this one can skip over if you wish, as I assume theres already loads of topics out there on this subject - but I was just wondering what people's recommendations would be for native vs 1080 vs 900 resolutions for full time use. I noticed that Revit, Photoshop and other programs don't scale very well in such a high resolution.

By the way, I want to thanks everyone in this sub-forum for their help/information/answers to questions about the system, really helped me to decide on buying this bad boy. If anyone else has any questions or want some game benchmarks then I'll see what I can do in the future (time is kind of limited for the next couple weeks, but I'll see what I can do)..

I don't suppose you still have the third one to give away? If so, I would definitely be interested!

Can anyone who owns a RB2015 confirm the lower USB power issue on the port closest to the headphone port that is apparently present on the 2014-13 models?

By the way, one could test this by hooking up their phones to all ports and seeing if there's a difference. For me, when I hook up my phone to the USB closest to the headphone jack, the system keeps connecting/disconnecting. However, if the laptop is in sleep mode, it remains connected solidly. The two other ports works perfectly fine when the laptop is turned on, but won't work as all when the laptop is in sleep mode.

Got my QHD 256 version today from MS store. Build quality and looks are great, feels like rock. Though, its kind of heavy and the fan noise from 3 level is kind of silly and annoying, completely satisfied with the laptop.

@.PoNeH just tested all the usb ports by plugging my xperia z1 and no issues at all. Works fine and normal.

But I am having a problem with key board, key board stops working or lags for 1 or 2 sec while typing. Came to know about this just now,, while typing this reply. I remember other guy has mentioned about this few days ago. If any one has this problem and found a solution please share here.

And will warranty get extended if I register my Blade lately through Synapse? (I purchased on 03/01/2015) if I register my product after a month I,e 04/01/2015 will warranty start from 04/01/2015 or 03/1/2015?

No it will not since they still require proof of purchase when having your machine serviced. They will go by the date on your receipt. I would, hence, recommend that you match the purchase date to your order date to avoid any confusion.

well guys.. count me in as an owner. just ordered the maxed out config.. went from considering the 1080p only, but going through the MS education store saved me quite a bit on the 512gb version. dunnno why i never considered the MS store before. does their signature edition differ than what Razer ships out directly? i thought Razer claimed they don't ship any bloatware also?

Yeah, if you can get the student discount, there is no reason not to order from MS, unless you really really want the matte screen. Too bad that MS don't carry the 128gb version, otherwise that would be the most economical way to go. Also, MS has the 30 days free return policy, and a cheap accidental warranty to offer.
The signature edition is just no bloatware I think. But since Razer is already doing that, I don't see any difference.

Personally, I have to go through 4 machines to finally get the machine with no dead pixel and pink tint issue (maybe I have bad luck, but I think Razer's quality control is really lacking here, or Sharp's display has horrible yield).

Anyway, the first two returns I brought back to the store for an exchange but they ran out of stock, so I just refund and re-order online with no issue. They were sorry about the what happen even though it's not really their fault. The third time, I decided to exchange online instead of the store, but their "exchange" process is really just a refund and then re-order again. But while on the phone with MS, I complained about the string of bad luck that I have with the screen and they said they'll escalate the issue. Afterward, they have one guy from the escalation team and one guy from the refund team called/email me to make sure I will get my refund once they receive the machine.

Now on my 4th machine that I received last night, I noticed a Microsoft signature edition sticker was sealing the box instead of the usual transparent sticker. My first though was why would MS sent me a refurnished/open-boxed machine? But after inspecting the screen (which is perfect with no dead pixel/pint tint/light bleed), I begin to wonder if MS actually have someone inspected the machine before sending it out, or I am just luck to get a machine with good screen (and someone decided to return it?)

Overall, my return/exchange experience with MS store has been excellent.

Did you create the usb drive through window's recovery? I am not sure that include all of the Razer software and drivers. I think you should email Razer and ask them to send you a recovery usb driver from Razer (just search the forum and you'll see the thread).

@wawawa I think windows recovery just copies the recovery partition as a bootable disk.. So, that should include all the softwares and drivers which we got out of box? if that is not the case, can some one confirm it.

Did any one get Razer Surround application with their laptop. Because Pcmag mentioned there is a razer surround application along with synapse in Razer Blade. But I cannt find Razer Surround application in my MS signature edition.

Oddly enough, I got my Surround Sound serial key when registering my Orochi, not my Razer Blade. Perhaps shoot them up an e-mail.

I'm also interested in a Razer USB flash key if there is one. I want to install Windows 10, but can't do it the upgrade route because of the recovery partition. A USB flash key should resolve this

I've been using cloing/image software, so not sure how it works anymore with Windows recovery, but you could be correct.
But why not just try to restore your machine now with the usb drive before you delete the recovery partition. Worst case scenario is your usb driver doesn't restore everything, and you can still recovery your machine with the partition.

Guys I have a doubt, I formatted all my partitions and installed Windows 10. After few min Razer Synapse popped up asking to install. So, how is that even possible. I have deleted all the disks and formated and then Installed WIn 10? From where did synapse came?

Lol it recognised your Razer device. If you look at your keyboard and trackpad Windows actually sees them as USB devices for some reason so it's as if you plugged them in when you boot up, I guess.

yes a fresh install.. deleted all the partitions including recovery, but except EFI partition.
Then, made a flashable USB drive With Win10 using RUFUS for ISO to USB.

Just ordered one from the Canadian MS store. Does anyone here know if MS messed up the price in their Canadian store? It's the same as in the US store which makes me wonder if they forgot the currency conversion. ie 256 QHD model is 2399 dollars on in both CAD and USD and the same model is 3199 CAD in the Razer webstore. Anyhow, I bought 256 model with the student discount which makes it cheaper than a MBP.

Some people have noted the absence of displayport. Excuse my ignorance as I'm new to high end gaming notebooks, but why is this a problem? Is it because of the latency bottleneck of HDMI? I shouldn't have a problem gaming with my 21 inch HD monitor though, right?

You will have no issues with your display.

I don't know the details of why some want Display Port or a Thunderbolt instead. I think It may have to do with 4k resolutions, and throughput.

It looks great and feels like this is the display the 2013 version should have had. Currently I am VERY happy with this purchase.

I do not see any bleed, which was something I looked for as soon as it came. I do not do any photo work but the colors IMO are great.

I have an LP140WF3-SPD1 LG display.

Hehe, we all know each others' stuff! Ledzepp is right. When you get yours (Today or tomorrow I think you said, right, right? ;) ) you can check the same way I did and verify it. I have been wondering the same thing since I saw others posting their panel model a different way than I was used to looking up.
