oh really? My mistake then. I was recalling from recent memory when I was pricing a Sager that the screen upgrade was only $250 or something, but that one is actually a 3840 x 2160 screen non-touch.
I think Dell also has a similar screen upgrade for the XPS for $400 but they also upgraded the graphic card, cpu and ram as well.

What type of benchmarks are you seeing on games like Starcraft II, Battlefield 4, Far Cry 4, and Shadow of Mordor?

Trying to decide between the Razer, the MSI
Ghost Pro, the Clevo P650 and the Clevo P750zm and while the Clevo units are more powerful (and thus also bigger), the portability of the Razer is appealing since I already have a nice SLI Desktop unit for demanding games and the fact that the Blade scales down to 900p nicely due to the stock panel resolution seemed like a good way to extend the life of the machine.

Quick update: Received my replacement today. No dead pixels, but it has the same yellow-left pink-right tint to the screen that the first unit had.
After doing some Googling it seems that this is actually a fairly common issue for iPads and Macbook Airs too. It must have something to do with the screen manufacturing process for hi-DPI displays.
Despite that, I'm not yet sure if I want to keep the new unit. I do a lot of graphics work and consistent color temperature is important. It wouldn't be too bad if the entire panel was strong in a single color, but the fact that it shifts from yellow to pink makes it nearly impossible to calibrate.
Anyone else run in to this issue? It's most visible on totally white screens, like a maximized Google homepage.

I'm pretty touchy when it comes to color reproduction and I've used 4 different blades (2014 and 2015 models) and none exhibit the issues you are experiencing.

I just got the Razer Blade 2015 with a 256GB SSD, installed my favorite software. When I attempted to install the latest nvidia 245.20 drivers and they did not recognize the GTX 970M. The current version is the 344.77 driver. Anyone else have any success upgrading the drivers?

Hey, I just received my RB 2015 last night and got to play with it little bit. I am impressed with the build quality but is anyone else disappointed with the bezel size of the screen? I am coming from a HP Envy Spectre 14 and so the RB should blow it away but the bezel size is kind of bothering me.
Also, I installed windows updates and after it restarted, I can't open windows updates again. I did a refresh of the computer and after installing the windows updates again, again it won't open windows update. Not sure what is going on. Maybe I need to do a full recovery. Besides the Nvidia drivers, anything else we need to install?
Lastly, how do you guys deal with the scaling issues. I kept it on 3K but the buttons for controlling a video on youtube for example were too small. Do I just change the screen resolution to 1900 x 1080?
    Thanks!

I have the RB 2014, which I guess handles scaling the same way; the screen resolution is set to 3K, and I moved scaling to 125% on Windows. Inside IE I use 175% zoom.

    Hi Gents
UK Blade owner here. I've had my 2015 blade for a week or so now and Ive noticed one of the fans has a clicking noise that comes and goes.

Any advice on fixing it? I've taken the back off and there doesn't seem to be any visible cause of it.

Alright so this is my first time gaming in a while. I decided to buy a game to try out on my new razerblade. Decided to buy borderlands 2 on steam. I bought a 4 pack deal thinking it was a DLC package or something instead it was 4 games of borderlands 2...... (really? buying 4 of the same game) sigh...... anyway I emailed steam to get a refund but if I can't get one (most likely the case) I am giving away 3 free borderlands 2 game on steam. If anyone is interested let me know

lol alright. Just message me your steam account and I will send it as a gift. But I will wait until tomorrow to see what they say. Most likely they will give me steam credit, if that's the case I will just give out the game. So dumb who the hell buys 4 of the same game (I guess my fault for not reading correctly)

Funny thing is both of mine (2014 and 2015 models) had the same thing but ONLY when you held the laptop at an angle. If it was flat there was no problems. Both times it was the CPU fan.

@acabal I received my third unit today. I've got yet another dead pixel/stuck pixel near the center. This one I might able to fix it since it looks like it get stuck at green. However, I see the pink to yellow shift that you are talking about. But I have pink on the left side and become yellow on the right side. It's very noticeable on a white background. Sigh... Let's see if this will go away when I run the un-stuck pixel video...

I notice this shift but it only happens in very unrealistic angles so it's not a problem to me. Another display with dead pixel? I'm starting to wonder if I know how to spot a dead pixel at this point.

I don't know the exact temperatures but it's too hot to put on your lap when playing intensive games. But again, I don't think you can play intensive games on any thin and light system with it being comfortable on your lap.

Well I guess I am just unlucky. But it doesn't appear that I am the only one in this forum. Another thing I noticed was the sticker/seal was already broken on the outer box on this unit. Makes me wonder if I am just getting someone's returned machine.

I believe they open them because of the whole signature program besides I'm not sure they would have a lot of verified refurbished items so soon after launch.

oh i have a cooling pad. i'd really like to know the actual temps, and if it'll be uncomfortable after an hour or so of gaming. like i've heard that the aluminum gets unsafe to touch at that point. i use a gamepad while playing in bed, and i usually rest my hands by the trackpad sides, so i'm worried that i won't be able to do this.

well, I don't recall the seal/sticker were broken from the previous two that I received. I think the whole signature program is just mean they don't put bloatware in the machine.

    After Firestrike
    upload_2015-2-26_22-34-52.png
    After 14 minutes of XTU

In case you can't see. The Max for the CPU after Firestrike was 98 and the GPU max was 77.
The average for the CPU during the 15 minutes XTU stress test was 85. There was 0% throttling. The reason why the PC hits such high temps is because the cooling is very passive but when the fans quick in, the CPU stays in the mid 80s. Granted it is loud but 85 for CPU and 77 for GPU look good to me.

thank you for those. can you comment on the aluminum casing's temps also? on my post above, i mentioned that i rest my hands by the trackpad while using a gamepad. will it be too hot to do that? are there still areas (like what others reviewed for the 2014 version and the power button area) where it will burn you if accidentally touched?

The areas where you touch the case are usually cool. They're not even warm in some games. The area around the power button certainly gets hot but the only game that I have tested where it gets uncomfortably hot is Crysis 3. But that's if you leave your finger in the area for like 5-10s. Trackpad definitely remains cool, never gets uncomfortably hot.

thank you. that relieves some concern. i will mostly play the Mass Effect trilogy, Skyrim with a couple of mods (hopefully at max settings), Final Fantasy 14, and Witcher 3 (this is the one that will worry me). and since my only option here in my small NYC apt is to game on my bed with a cooling pad, you can see why i'm super concerned about the heat.

    appreciate the responses!

You have the lowest temp RB2015 that exists apparently. No one else can get max around 85c on a regular basis. It's normally around 95-97c stock.

Hey this might be a dumb question (sorry not that good with computers). But I am playing borderlands 2 and I want bring down the resolution to 1920x1080p (I suppose it runs better than 3200x1800). My question is do I bring my whole screen resolution down to 1920x1080 (through windows) or can i just bring the resolution down in the game settings? is that the same thing? sorry sounds like a stupid question lol.

Should be able to use the in-game settings. There was a problem with this in the past but I believe the newest Intel drivers fixed it. At least I used to have an issue with it in Assassin's Creed IV and when I fired that up recently it worked. But AC4 was the only game i saw the issue in, so...

I should also state I haven't been running 3200x1800 in a long time.

Outside of benchmark testing, are people generally happy with the gaming performance of the 2015 blade and not experiencing throttling during gaming?

I play a lot of RTS strategy games and battlefield 4, so I was a bit worried how those more CPU dependent games would perform. Otherwise, i will be playing a lot of WoW, Everquest and FF XIV (and LoL and HoTS) which I assume would be okay temp wise.

Is there a way to manually ramp up the fans (I tend to wear noise cancelling headphones anyway).

Trying to choose between this, the Ghost Pro 064 and then P650SG (with the 980m card)
