Two 8700GT's isn't bad... Should provide 3dmark05 scores of over 10,000. It probably will not do as well as dual 7800, 7900 or 7950GTX cards, but thats still quite a bit of power in a notebook.

Seriously Dell WHERE THE HELL IS IT?!
-
Where did the "27th-Aug" date come from?
Bah! -
I think it was some italian or french site which is known for always leaking the dell lineups so people gave them the benefit of the doubt. It was posted on numerous sites such as Engadget as well. Is it available in France yet?
-
its a lie!
-
This is from the Sales dept, so probably take this with a pinch of salt.
To my surprise, after previous denials that such a model existed, the person on the phone checked if I was referring to the 1730.
Well...at least Dell says it's a real model.
"Release date in the UK won't be for another month at least or another two months. Not before October"
However, for the US, he did mention "27th August"
More or less confirmed what's on the internet about the specs...range of processors, max 2.6Ghz, basic 8600 all the way to dual 8700M. Worse thing is that the pictures on the internet are apparently real and that's what it will look like
"Smoky black...with red bits on the side..different but similar to the 1710"
And they will continue selling the 1710, it's the longest 17" model they've been selling and best so far for portable gaming. Graphics card on the 1710 can be upgraded to 8700 but at the cost of my warranty. (I didn't even know it was possible to do it manually)
Oh and delivery for the 1710 is 7-10 days if I get the highest processor (sales ploy?), 21 days if I only get the 2.16...just thought I'd mention that as I read a thread asking about delivery dates on the 1710. -
The guy on Live chat told me that didn't recieve it yet LMAO. Nobody knows anything these days. Yeah I posted the pic of the working model it is a real design.

Good lord what else is new with these damn Dell XPS PCs.

-

-

-
I'm guessing thats late around 12am, I'm praying its not too expensive.
-
yeah 12am-ish
hopefully its in the 1500-2500 range with the warranty... otherwise I'm getting the 1720 .. eventually.
I just want to play Bioshock and use photoshop without crashing my old one -
Now there are rumors of it coming with an 8800, man this is an XPS it starts at like 2499 when it launches LOL.

Gah! Possibilies...8800?!?!
Here's the thread you were referring to incase people still check this thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2393520#post2393520
And the pic thread: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=2394184&posted=1#post2394184
Ouch....feels like it's going to cost an arm and a leg. But I'm glad I didn't get the 1710 so soon. I can't wait for the official stats. If the 8800 is available for it, I'm gonna want this -
Yeah I just hope the 8800s come at launch or close to launch because I can't wait all the way to December or something like that.
-
talked to dell customer service they gave a date of sept 15th
-
On a Saturday?
-
New pictures. Still not good-looking. Just not as ew-worthy
-
No, its still pretty hideous, although putting a skin on it will make it better.
I like the dual 8700GTs, it makes up a bit for the ugliness. I still never would buy one, I would get the Sager NP5790 instead, or the Alienware M9750 if I really needed SLI. Both are much sleeker and better looking, and probably better built as well. -
I love how the 27th of August now = 15th September.
-
Have they ever launched a system on a Saturday I mean that doesn't even seem right LOL.
-
Probably that was just bad information. Launching a system on a Saturday is not common.
-
well i hate these companies when you have to wait
New Dell XPS M1730 on the way?
