Huh? I'm asking for a link to the "spyware" software that Microsoft provides to spy on your system, not for Windows or Office itself.

I don't see how that would be "illegal" as you put it.

 

Just got a survey this morning, about network icons. Many are trick questions though hahahaha.

 

holy crap! i wasn't going to install the spyware since i assumed i missed the registration time for the gift... and lo and behold i got this email! i guess it's worth doing now if i get the gift... i do have a PC that i wanted ultimate on.

i got my 1st email from microsoft about this. i signed up sometime in late november i believe. i have not received any survey's but this email looks promising. i'm expecting my free copy of vista sometime in march

Well, that's different and my apologies. But sadly enough, if you didn't sign up way-back-when the 'gift' is no longer available.

But the spyware program still is...somewhere.

 

i signed up and installed the software somewhere in dec and i havent received any email from them yet
spware is still running ......

 

Just to revive this old thread with an update, Even after reformatting my laptop (and reinstalling there spyware) i got this email this morning

We would like to notify you that your PC now sends data on a frequent basis. THANK YOU!



As soon as you complete the 3 months participation term, your free product selection will be sent to the mailing address you submitted at registration. Prior to sending out your product we will be verifying your selection and mailing address.

I got that email as well about a week ago after reformatting. Not sure if I should be concerned it is still on my computer or happy Microsoft is wrong.

 

I have just 1 month and 2 days to go before I'm done. *Keeping fingers crossed*

 

Any updates from anyone? My participation is almost finished, has anyone recieved an email when it's done and they ship out the free gift?

 

I dont remember when I signed up, but I did get an email a while ago confirming that I would be getting it come the 3 month mark.

So March 11th the latest I assume.

 

March 11 is my date. Just 15 days to go.

 

That's probably the date we'll get the email to verify the shipping address, add another 4 weeks to get it in hand. That's about how long it took to get my copy of Vista Business and Office 2007 from their previous offer.

I hope this comes through. My desktop did crash in January, but I did reinstall the software and I did get the email saying my computer is sending frequent updates so I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Hmm I finally installed the spyware on 1/31 after receiving an email from MS... does that mean I have to wait until 4/31? I did originally sign up on 12/11 with everyone else.

Maybe by 4/31 I'll have SP1 already installed when it arrives! lol

I think ill give till the end of next week before I kill their software.

Does the 3 month clock reset when I reinstall the automated feedback tool?

No, we keep your initial registration timestamp for the 3 month period. If we don’t receive data from your PC, we will notify you.

I have not received a survey from you yet. Should I be worried?

You may receive an occasional invitation to participate in a Windows product survey, but if you don’t get invited to a survey it only means we have not had a survey request that matches your areas of interest.

Me too!!! My HDD needs a reformat and I've got 8GB of ram waiting to go to work....

 

which is why you need the 64bit version of Vista, as 32bit will not be able to use it all XD

 

Lucky guys. I haven't recieved an email yet, and I signed up on 12/11/07, and ran it till I formatted today.

 

Ok I just got an email literally 2 minutes ago, at 12:01am, the same as the others confirming my 3 month commitment is finished.

I got my email as well. They also offered:

"We would love to keep you in our program and offer new incentives. If you continue participating in the automated feedback program through March 30, 2008, you will receive a sweepstakes entry for a chance to win USD $5000 cash. "

Unfortunately, one of my RAID drives on my PC is failing so I will have to wipe everything when my replacement drive arrives.

 

You can still continue to participate if you want. I built a new desktop in the middle of the program and continued on.
