what's the point of a rotating webcam though? you'd have to then rotate the whole laptop around to get a shot of yourself, otherwise you could just move the screen back or forward at different angles on a fixed webcam.
-
Rotating camera allows you to record seminars, presentations and even professors when they teach...
-
oooh, professors. good idea.
-
-
if you had to rotate the notebook itself, then what's the point in having a rotating camera
-
Can't wait until M1330 is available in US
-
Some profs don't like you to use recorders in class. At least at the school I went to. So having a rotating camera would be stelthy Smile prof. Looks like a notebook I'm giong to check out.

I only thing stopping me from buying a Dell is the product is the fugly logo...IMO that circle with the words "Dell" in it really pisses me off! But if they ever changed it I'd might consider the M1330.
-
Whats so ugly about the Dell logo? If you're not buying a product just because of the logo, then you are just plain stupid. When the M1330 comes out, it will be one of the best 13" notebooks on the market... hands down.
-
Sony: BIG FAT 'VAIO' written there
HP: Square HP logo there
Asus: Words 'Asus' there
etc
etc
You can always get a nice sticker for it, and slap it on top. -
I dont think its completely ridiculous to care about the way your laptop looks, but just hating it because of one small part of it its just silly. Especially when you over look all the fantastic specs on this machine..
this would be the first dell i've ever even considered getting.. -
-
I feel that why most people dislike the logo of dell is because what dell represents in most of the minds of others, which most people who have no experience in testing laptops will think "Cheap parts, Cheap build, cheap laptop, budget system, cheap" As a result, some will mind what they use in front of people, but some don't (like me, performence, battery life, weight > design).
It's like.. lets say if suddenly Dell have improved their product quality and has won like 129861298461 awards, and shifted to brand or price their laptops like Sony or Asus, I'm pretty sure many will feel otherwise about the logo.
Anyway for the record, i actually find Dell laptops build pretty good, well given i only played around with a xps m1210 & m1710. And the m1330, if price & battery life is right, will still be my next purchase.

Part of it I'm sure, as bravefire mentioned, is that the Dell name + logo has become plain, boring, and a symbol of common-place. It became somewhat synonymous with your plain-jane desktop back in the early 2000's (that's weird to say/write) so I can see why young, hip people might not like it so much.
-
-
I find the XPS branding much more distracting than the Dell logo. If they toned down the XPS logo, the aesthetics would be much better.

This maybe a bit off topic, but i can't wait to try Hellgate:London on the m1330, when both are out i really hope that it can run at least at med setting with sweet fps, do you think the 8400 GS can handle a game like that? i know the req of HG:L are not out, but what do you guys think, base on the screenshots, vids, etc of the game.
It doesn't matter if it can't play at uber high detail as i got a desktop that has 3.0 c2d with 8800gtx which will be the one i use most of the time im home.. and the m1330 will be for lan parties!
Argh... i can't wait for these 2 products -
ok Back to the topic guys. Yesterday Engadget published new piece of info on m1330:
http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/17/dell-confirms-xps-m1330-and-inspiron-laptops-and-22-other-co/
or here the source:

Another info from dell’s rep: Since I expect that the price of m1330 will be out of my range I decided to buy the good "old" m1210. To my surprise when I went to dell's German (it's where I live now) website last friday the g-force graphics was gone and only integrated graphics was available (on thursday both were the option). I checked the US-Site - both were there. I checked other European countries - the g-force was gone. I grabbed the phone and called dell. None from xps-reps was to reach so the nice lady I spoked to promised me that somebody will call me within one hour. Well, it didn't happen. On sunday the situation repeated. Finally today (monday) I've got the call from dell. The guy told me that the m1210 will be sold for the next 2 weeks only and only with the integrated graphics He of course advised me to wait for the m1330. I've tried to get some info on price from him but he said he doesn't know it either.
So it seems that 26th is a very good guess for release of the new models.
My problem is that I need the laptop (at the very latest) in the second week of July and the m1330 will be very likely to expansive for me so I guess I have to find the way to buy the asus w7j

P.S. Very nice Forum. Very informative.
P.S.2 Sorry for my English – it’s not my native language -
-
Yeah, i hope he is right about the 26th being the release date..
the sooner the better ! -
click on my green link in signature.. Dell insiders confirmed today the entire Santa Rosa - Inspiron line and XPS 1330 !
-
Jaymz: did they announce them, or just give confirmation? Your link just goes to the confirmation post....
and as far as I know, date for announcement for all of these notebooks is in 7 days. -
-
Here's a great post in another thread which confirms a lot of info we already know and includes some new info.
It looks like the M1330 will eventually have an option of a slot-loading Blu Ray drive. The M1330 will come standard with a 6-cell battery that sits flush with the system, or an optional 9-cell battery that will stick out at the bottom of the device, similar to HP's high capacity battery.
Oh, and the best news, the weight will be under 4 lbs. -
wow! some nice specs. Dell's finally stepping up the game
-
Some follow up info:
-
-
This laptop have really nice features, and I guess its the best features that you could have for a 13.3 screen laptop.
-
Netflix offers both. -
Oh, wait... weren't they a video store? I can't remember.
-
-
Blockbuster is great! I pay $8.99 for 3 DVDs every month. Beat that Netflix!
-
is that through mail? or can u return it in store and take out of store?
-
I have Total Access which means, I can get 3 DVDs through mail and then IF I decide to return them to the store, I get 3 new DVDs from the store while 3 more movies will come through the mail as the BB store does the shipping for you So all in all, I can get 6 movies in addition to a monthly coupon for a game or another movie. This is a killer deal for $8.99.
-
How did you swing that? I pay $14.95/mo. for two DVDs out at a time.
-
-
-
-
well then stella, how do you get the 14.99 membership for 2 at a time? lol
-
To clarify all this. A year ago, there was a deal where I could get 2 months trial of 3 DVDs with just only $8.99. Of course I jumped on that deal and they have charged me $8.99 ever since
jrmurtaugh:
Your current plan...
BLOCKBUSTER Total Access $8.99 / month (plus taxes)
3 at-a-time, unlimited
+1 FREE bonus Movie or Game Rental E-Coupon / Month
Next Billing Date: July 15,2007
Sirious_GTO: Try this. Signup for BB online for the 3 DVDs @ 17.99. They are offering 2 months of service at 50% off to subscribers who note that they are considering cancellation of their service. Go to "Cancel my account" then choose a reason (such as "Trying to cut my expenses"), and click "Next". And then you will see an option for $8.99 offer for 3 DVDs for 2 months (hit refresh if you don't see it, IT WILL WORK trust me!). Now, I might have just lucked out without BB charging me 17.99 again (knock on wood), but it's worth a try if you ask me. -
Wow! You guys definitely know how to work the system around here . Sirius, I got my plan just from signing up on the main page of Blockbuster's website. Nothing complicated.

Jayayess1190 Waiting on Intel Cannonlake
This notebook is now the second most popular.
-
ckpilot - Thanks a lot. But if you register for the 3 movies at 17.99, can you exchange them in store? thanks
