@ carnifex2005: did yours actually ship? Mine got canceled 4 times so far, with the last cancellation happening ~July 31st. My salesperson claims Dell's trying to make the original EDD, which means mine should ship Monday, but I really don't believe it.

Just wondering if us up North will be getting any love from Dell anytime soon...

Mine shipped out on July 31st. Purolator has it on their truck and it's in Calgary now. I should get it Tues or Weds. I did order mine about 2 hours after it got posted on the Dell Canada website so that may be why I'm getting it.

I'm the other way around. Temporary sounds are ok by me, but I of course turn of terminal bells and the system beeps, etc, if I can, but constant droning sounds bug me.

My current laptop runs the fan 75-80% of the time, and it's getting noisier as it's getting older. It's also not at all as powerful as modern systems (it's maybe 2 - 2.5 years old), so I think it's time to upgrade.

    Weird.
Ordered on July 28. Production date was July 28, and ship date was August 1.
However, my expected delivery date is September 3.
I'm using the online tracking thing from Dell.

For those of you receiving your laptops...Can u please post your order date and Shipping date? Also it might be good to include choice of Display or Lid color which might affect the amount of time to ship. I ordered July 29th. Im in Build stage and I am just curious when I will receive it. The estimation is September 6th...but that seems to far to be true. Thanks.

I think there's a pretty decent chance you'll receive it much sooner as you got the CCFL backlit display.

Check out the Dell section of the forums - there are plenty of threads there. :) You may want to consider the Sony SZ6 series.

Hi, im from australia. I ordered my XPSM1330 last month, and was supose to be delivered to me TODAY 13th August.

Then 2 days ago, customer service of Dell e-mailed me and said that "they are out of parts, and will not come in until the 23rd August.

Which means they will ONLY start building my laptop on that day, meaning I will get it by mid September. That is 2 months!!!!
    This is BULLSH#T!

Anyone planning to complain to Dell? I'll join you if you do.

I got XP working like a charm! This forum (website below) has everything you ever need to know about installing XP on the M1330. (Right now I have mine dual booting Vista and XP, works perfectly after getting through a couple kinks.)

    Here's the site:

    http://www.dellcommunity.com/suppor...hread.id=253132&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

Then I used this site to do the dual boot Vista and XP stuff:

    http://www.pro-networks.org/forum/about88231.html

Kudos to the guy that wrote that first thread, he really knows his stuff. Hope this helps anyone wanting to install XP on their machines.

i saw that site too. its very useful. but what i want to do is dual boot using the buttons, like, boot vista with the normal power button, and when i press the mediadirect, it instead boots windows xp. i REALLY want to do that.

also, regarding the review and whatnot, i got bluetooth and wireless n. when i turn on the wifi thing on the side, will it also turn on bluetooth? if so, how can i turn off bluetooth in windows?

you can change what that switch turn's on and off, you can turn bluetooth of in windows by right clicking the bluetooth icon in the system tray and select turn of bluetooth. oh and the media direct partition is only about 4 gig, but you could make it bigger if you wanted to install XP on it

Well it may not be possible. I assume the button is coded in the BIOS to boot to a selected partition when you press it. So your only option might be to mess with your hard drive partitions. See what makes the Media Direct partition special and make windows look like that.

Personally I do not think it is worth the hassle. You just have to select it from a boot selection list, it only takes a second.

you can put the instal disk in and when it asks you were you want to instal it at select the media direct partition. (it's like 01000mediadirect), but it's only 4 gig so you will have to resize the partition.

Do you believe the recent reports that Dell will soon release a 15" version, the XPS M1530? Allegedly it will be lighter than the M1330, despite the larger screen.

Sure, I think it's fairly likely (there's a gaping hole in the "mobile" 15" segment in Dell's lineup), but I'm not sure where you get the info that it'll be lighter. I don't think it's even theoretically possible - the LED display that the M1330 has is already about as light as they can get, and adding 2" will definitely be higher. The rumours I heard were in the low 2.xx kg range, or approx 4lbs WITHOUT a battery.
