Hi,
i hope that someone here can help me out.
I need the Audio Drivers for the Dell 9400, sadly the download link on the Dell Webside do not work.
Maybe one of you has it somewhere on a repair CD and it'd be great if he can up it on the www or mail it to me ([email protected])
Thanks !
Here the spec's:
SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio
Audio: SIGMATEL STAC 92XX C-Major HD Audio, Driver, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Multi Language, Inspiron MP061, v.5.10.0.4823, A03
R114075.EXE -
Shipped! :d
-
killbe: this is from the other forum linked on page 25 here:
"Just got done finishing up doing most of the driver reinstalling, except I couldnt find an audio driver anywhere! 9400 isnt listed on the resource CD and it's not on the driver support site either. I called up Dell tech support, and he didnt know where to get it either He actually seemed surprised that I reformatted my computer. "Let me get this straight...It's a new computer and you reformatted it???"
Then he suggested that I use the restore partition to restore to factory defaults. I told him that if i wanted factory defaults, i wouldnt have reformatted!
So anyways, he ended up finding the audio drivers for it, after a short wait. He said to install the Sigmatel STAC 92XX C-Major HD audio Rev: A02 drivers listed for the MXC051.
That seems to have done the trick and my audio works again now. "

edit:
Sorry, i reread your post ...you already know this. But perhaps you tried wrong link?
edit: Ok i tried a couple of other links...with service unavailable.
So i guess you will just have to wait until tomorrow or email that person on other forum who has already downloaded that driver. -
I'm *really* disappointed they didn't put a full size keyboard on the 9400...
-
the pricing and deals on the 9400 just isn't there yet either....too expensive
-
Id say the price is on par with other laptops in the same 'arena' feature wise. They havent undercut the competition yet pricewise like you expect Dell to do but that doesn't mean the price is horrible.
I will comment that the price dropped for my laptop some $250 since I ordered it, Kind of annoyed by that but thats alright. I just want it to get here! -
Well seems i was right about the deals from awhile ago..they be history.
the new coupons apply only to specific notebook/desktops now.

keep tabs on this (canadian) for futuredeals...
650$ off made the 9400 a awesome deal a couple of weeks ago
as for current prices sans any Dell deals...
just compare price of 9400 to this Acer TravelMate 8204WLMi Core Duo T2500:
http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=009202&cid=896
edit: sorry in cdn dollars for 9400 that would be:

go7800 vs mid range ati 1600
15 inch vs 17 inch
hmm, I didnt notice standard system RAM is only 512mb now on the 9400 spec sheet...so to up it to the 2 gig in the acer...price goes to 2500 (dell charges a fortune for ram!). the acer has a standard good dvd burner --there is another 150.
Hmm, things have definately changed in a couple of weeks. I guess you do have a point. Dell's price is no longer as competative as it was. -
As a side note, my laptop finally shipped! It's in transit from the US and is expected to be here by Friday! Finally! I'm gonna overlock that puppy till it bleeds!!! Lol. I'm glad I went with the 9-cell battery now that we are hearing about power loss due to usb usage. -
" Dell's price is no longer as competative as it was"
meaning, ya..the pricing is about the same now.
Dell was blowing the competition outta the water not so long ago on the 9400.
Prolly the only advantage of buying a laptop before anyone has actually seen how it performs -
For those who are also searching for working audio drivers, you can use this one.

yup ddr3 is standard for dedicated graphic card memory..
won't be long (well in computer terms) before that changes to ddr4 -
ddr3??
Also, if someone can point me in the direction of how to set up dual monitors I would really apreciate it
I would basically like to watch a movie on one monitor, and browse internet/chat on msn on my laptop screen. Is this possible? If so, can someone tell me how to do it?
I would really apreciate it -
Yeah DDR1 is way too slow for graphics memory. I think the fastest I've seen DDR1 at was PC4200 ram?
-
7800 go dell 9400 have ddr3
-
Yeah, flamex, it's possible. I'll have the same setup (hooking up the DVI to my HDTV). You can use the DVI output, VGA output, or SVIDEO output to hook up to another display. Then use the FN+F8 keys to select laptop, laptop+external, or external only. If it doesn't work the way you want right away, you may have to go into the display properties and tell it which screen is your primary screen (movies will only play on the primary screen).

Hey guys if you want a nice virus protection software program, check out nod32. It is very powerful, fast, and uses very little resources. Thats the one i'm going to install on the dell once I uninstall the trial version of Norton.

Also, thanks for the tip on the dual monitor -
OH MY **** IM BEYOND ANGRY!
The delivery man came today, but I wasnt in...my maid works until 12 o clock and I told her SPECIFICALLY to stay an extra ten minutes to sign for the laptop. I come home and find a note on my floor telling me the UPS guy came at 12 and I wasnt available...ASDFASDFASDFH!! -
Sorry to hear that FlameX. Hopefully my roommates will be around when mine arrives.
I have to laugh at Dell, though. They've updated my status to "Shipped on Jan 28", and bumped the "estimated delivery date" from Feb 1 to Jan 27. I know Purolator is fast, but time travel?! -
Now i've posted some pics of my 9400 in my swedish thread.

Nice pictures Fredrik. I'll have to admit, the outside of the laptop is ugly as hell, but thats ok... people will be less likely to steal it or know what it's worth. All the better.

So long as you are connecting to the internet with a router you will be pretty safe as you will have a non-routable IP address. Surfing the internet without a router is asking for it and NOT advised at all.
Ensure Windows Update is enabled and set to automatically install the updates.
If you do the above, you should be pretty safe. You still have to be carefull what you download. Scan the file with AVG before running it if you are not sure of the source (always for best practice) -
Couple questions: Anyone do a SuperPi test to 2m places yet? I'm curious to know how it compares to the Acer W8204 (1m15s). Did anyone here order their 9400 with Media Centre 2005 (with or without remote)? Is there a reason you chose XP Pro over it (which is practically identical to XP Pro anyways, just cheaper, and with extra media goodies)? Also, has anyone seen/heard of the combo audio/video cable for the svideo output? I downloaded the manual and the first 10 pages or so indicate you can hook it up with an optional svideo/spdif or even component/spdif cable. I haven't seen these cables anywhere on the Dell Canada site. Perhaps they're US only, or something?
Just trying to keep myself busy until mine arrives (tomorrow or Wednesday) -

Haven't seen the cables or a PI score yet. 1m15sec is really good!!

Finally I've found somewhere with a decent of information about this thing!!!
I've already got mine on order, but information on it has been hard to come by.
Seeing as the people on here seem to be some of the few that have actually owned/used a 9400, can I ask a few questions?
1) How hot does it get?
2) Does it getting hotter if you use the drivers from tweaksrus.com?
3) Whats the noise like?
4) Whats it like gaming in wide screen? Do games etc appear stretched?
Anyway I'm getting one thats fully kitted with the best spec I could I get (came to just under £2500 but I'm getting about £1500 knocked by ordering through my companies HCI scheme) so when it arrives I'll give some benchmarks if no one else has done the same on a similar spec one by then. -
So after a 2 hour long exhausting phone call last night, Dell revealed to me that my shipment had been marked shipped in their system and then left on their loading dock waiting to be put into a UPS truck for delivery. The dock guys didnt know what to do with it.
Grreeeeat.... Anyway, Ive got my tracking numbers now and its on the way for delivery on Thursday. At least it will be here this week, also Dell is refunding 30% of my costs to me for this bull****. Pay for next day delivery through Dell Small Business and they pull this crap. At least they are willing to make it right. -
Just found this on the other forum...
Seems the guy used desktop drivers 83.40 to overclock his 7800go and got even closer to 6000 in 3DMark05. Looks like you've been beat there Fredrik
Only a matter of time now till we hit 6k!?

i just recieved my laptop today, and I am very unimpressed.
My screen keeps going blue and tells me that "an attempt was made to execute non-executable memory", then my computer restarts. This happens around every 10 minutes and its driving me insane. Ive updated all drivers, Ive got rid of all of the unneccesary programs, Ive ran windows update, I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!?
PLEASE help me someone, I would really apreciate it.
Can someone please tell me how to restore the laptop to the original state, without the use of CD's?

flame X ..Do you have daemon tools installed? if so, uninstall.
another user found that disabling DHCP Client service ended this error.
or failing that, you need to talk to dell tech support and determine whether they put it(your 9400) together wrong.
edit:

I think it might be DEP causing you grief.
edit2: so, if you follow these next instructions...you can see if DEP is on..if it is..turn it off. If your problem goes away then we are closer to the problem.
"End users who are logged on as administrators can manually configure DEP between the OptIn and OptOut policies using the Data Execution Prevention tab inside the System Properties dialog box. The following procedure describes how to manually configure DEP on the computer:
1.
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click System.
2.
Click the Advanced tab. Then, under Performance, click Settings.
3.
Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
4.
Click Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only to select the OptIn policy.
5.
Click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select to select the OptOut policy.
6.
If you selected the OptOut policy, click Add and add the applications that you do not want to use DEP with.
"
also: check your event viewer..it may show the exact problem there. -
thanks alot for your help redstar, but Im afraid that didnt do anything. (Im using media edition btw)
how do i view my event viewer?
I restarted after changing the settings but the problem came back. Can somebody tell me how to restore my pc back to the original settings please? Ive looked around for the online manual and i cant find it. -
control panel/administrative tools/event viewer.
sorry about that.
You can select a restore point for windows and revert back (that covers software)
for the bios...you select factory default (let a dell support guy lead you through that)
What new things have you installed?
edit: from the 9400 manual you can also try this:
Dell Diagnostics
CAUTION: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the safety instructions in the
Product Information Guide.
When to Use the Dell Diagnostics
If you experience a problem with your computer, perform the checks in "Lockups and Software
Problems" on page 100 and run the Dell Diagnostics before you contact Dell for technical assistance.
NOTICE: The Dell Diagnostics works only on Dell computers.
NOTE: The Drivers and Utilities CD is optional and may not ship with your computer.
Start the Dell Diagnostics from either your hard drive or from the Drivers and Utilities CD (also
known as the ResourceCD).
Starting the Dell Diagnostics From Your Hard Drive
The Dell Diagnostics is located on a hidden diagnostic utility partition on your hard drive.
NOTE: If your computer cannot display a screen image, contact Dell. See "Contacting Dell" on page 151.
1 Shut down the computer.
2 Connect the computer to an electrical outlet.
3 Diagnostics can be invoked one of two ways:
a Turn on the computer. When the DELL™ logo appears, press <F12> immediately. Select
Diagnostics from the boot menu and press <Enter>.
NOTE: If you wait too long and the operating system logo appears, continue to wait until you see the
Microsoft® Windows® desktop. Then shut down your computer and try again.
b Press and hold the <Fn> key while powering the system on.
NOTE: If you see a message stating that no diagnostics utility partition has been found, run the Dell
Diagnostics from the Drivers and Utilities CD. -
I installed quake 4, and uninstalled most of the software that came with the laptop.
I also tried pressing CTRL+F11 at the dell screen but nothing happened.
And about event viewer, I see alot of "errors" and the source is MRXSMB...what is that?
Im also getting alot of warnings under MICROSOFT FAX...I wonder how I can stop that. -
First of all, owners manual and service manual can be found here.
To best of my knowledge, "all" Dell computers are delivered with an hidden partition containing all the necessary files for reinstalling and bringing the computer back to square one, so to speak.
*EDIT: Redstar posted the exactly same quote from the manual as me, so I deleted this part of my post*
I suggest you try Dell diagnostics and if no luck, I would imagine the reinstallation files can also be accessed via the mentioned boot-menu? -
