Nice review, though its not different enough to not just buy an older model.

I bought this Asus Netbook at NewEgg. I needed it for a programming class, but when it came, it was DOA. It didn't connect to networks, and then after trying to reinstall factory conditions, it turns out the harddrive was bad. Newegg takes three weeks with it, trying to fix it, and I have to cancel my class. I get it back, sign up for the next class, and then... turns out the keyboard is broken on this other model. The backspace key jumped off the keyboard, and has since refused to go back on. Now, Newegg refuses to take it back at all, even if I let them take their "20% fee for restocking and selling broken merchandise." Then, I find out that Toshiba has netbooks that are twice as cheap and twice as fast. So, I'm stuck with a broken netbook, that has never worked, and I ran out of the "thirty-days return limit" because everything they replaced it, it was replaced with something broken. Avoid Newegg. If Walmart has more sophisticated technical service (take it from a computer technician), then Newegg is worthless.
I tried posting a message, several times, where my review indicated the poor condition that my netbook has been given to me. But, Newegg has deleted my comments. Googling this, it turns out that the Wall Street Journal covered this, and found that Newegg deletes all negative comments! [ http://online.wsj.com/public/articl...jwTvTplbvV6uhXfyBc_20060803,00.html?mod=blogs ] But I work at a university, and after talking to several other technicians and my manager, they all told me that Newegg has deleted all of their negative comments, as well. Then I keep doing more research, and I find out that Newegg is actually PAYING PEOPLE to write good reviews, at sixty-five cents per review! And these reviews are floating all over the web, on all the review sites! See it here: [ http://www.crunchgear.com/2009/01/17/belkin-paying-65-cents-for-good-reviews-on-newegg-and-amazon/ ]
Lies, lies, and more lies. That's the only thing that can maintain a distributor of faulty merchandise. And that's all I've gotten out of them. -
Thanks for warning us though. Appreciate it. +1 reputation for you. -
Hey guys I can pick up one of these with 2gb RAM and a 320HDD for $230. Should I pull the trigger? Is there a smaller battery available to reduce the weight?
